This is very very unfortunate & nerve wrecking. However, Lagos will never be a "shadow of itself" because of this & other demolitions currently ongoing & probably not stopping anytime soon.

For every one person who gets angry over this demolition & decides to carry their investment out of Lagos, there are already 3-4 others waiting in line to bring in their own investments, so, no Sir: the indices (by all standards) don't point to a slump in Lagos' fortunes rather, it's stock will only continue to go higher by the day.

Oga keep quiet..

Lagos won't shake because of the ongoing demolitions..

Alex Otti demolished over 700 houses in Abia state
Chukwuma Soludo demolished hundreds of houses in Anambra state

Why are you shedding tears over demolitions by Lagos Government?

All tribes are affected in the demolitions so anyone that wants to move out should move.. more serious people will come in and fill the space.

This Beautiful Mansion Has Been Marked For Demolition By The Lagos State Government.
They been given just 2 hours to pack their belongings. Is this not bad? I seriously feel sad seeing what this people in government houses are doing to people they never supported in anyway.
Source: Tobi Akinbo J.

I don't know who is more dumb, the owner of the building or the person who posted the above content online? Either way both of them are lacking in sense.

Such decisions aren't based on how fine a building is. There is no reason to feel bad about someone who broke the law and pay day came. The building owner always knew he built on a time bomb.
There is no way only 2-hour notice was also given. Many notices over many months would have been given, but the owner and some officials have been spending money to try and bribe out of the situation, just as they did when constructing the building.
Nigerians are inherently corrupt. The property owner used money to bribe at construction stage. Govt officials are collecting money promising him the building will remain. Poster is corrupt cooking lies they got 2 hour notice.

it's like na charge and bail lawyer you use. Correct lawyer will guide you on all the documents you need and where to get them and how to check the land for any encumbrance attached to it. If new government wants to use the land for something else, it will compensate the legitimate owners.

Like I said.. You haven't dealt in land issue before.... So calm down.
Is it the Nigerian government that has no regard for rule of law?
Like I said again, a land might be approved by one government and an opposition comes in and said no to it... Find one language tell the press that the other government gave the land to cronies and party members without following due process.

Or you want to tell me that the owner did not now verify before injecting over 150m in such place? This is Nigeria bro. Everything happens and no rule of law and government officials do partner and sell land to people and when u do all verification from the ministry and new set of people comes into power they throw those people out and start theirs

How did someone build such a massive structure without doing due investigation and verification?

If verifications were done and owner has legitimate papers to back up case, then owner needs to sue the Lagos state government.

The Omo-onile that sold those lands would have absconded now.

Quite sad.

This is done against Igbos and it all stems from the elections. What goes around comes around. This is tribal wickedness!

Doesn't the government demolish houses in the East? Are they also anti-Igbo?

Instead of focusing on root cause of demolition, you here talking about tribalism!

You're trying to cause division. Which tribe is SS?

What makes you think these lands were not acquired properly?
RecentHistory:
Igbos are actually very foolish.

Let me tell you something. In Lagos, you take a SS person to a land, he will call a Surveyor to come chart it. Then, he will go to Surveyor General to check again if the land is truly free. Thereafter, he will call lawyer to do Deed. All these before paying. An Igbo man will see this and call the SS person a coward.

An Igbo man will just pay cash. Even if you tell him the land is under government acquisition, he won't worry. He will tell you that shebi it is money they will collect.

This particular place, it is Omonile that scammed land buyers. They took government to court and lost. But they won't tell buyers.

That place belongs to the federal government.

And for those idiots whipping up tribal sentiments. Yoruba houses were also demolished.

I know nairaland is the headquarter of tribalism. But one day the tortoise will catch up with the rabbit wonder Lai Mohammed said, they should clamp down on those useless people posting hate speeches.

People need to be guided. FHA ( Federal Housing Authority) is in charge of FESTAC Town and FESTAC Extension, if due diligence was carried out by the buyer of landed property they would have being informed of impending danger. As a Surveyor, I worked for some of our Igbo brothers and advice them appropriately. Some listened and some believed with money nothing can happen. Please and please, this has nothing to do with Lagos State Government rather, a non challant attitude and "Nigeria factor".

Stop arguing like an idiot.

That land was commited by the FHA for building FESTAC Phase 2, right from 1977. Where were you in 1977.

These people who decided to buy this land were foolish. When FHA was warning them, did they listen?

The land was not just acquired, it was a committed land. You don't know anything about real estate, you are just talking rubbish about. Must be one of those half-educated agents all around the place.

Bullshit.

Instead of playing tribal sentiment, they should have asked why their building is being demolished. Also, I'm sure LASG would have told them the reason the building is being demolished.

The way we use tribal and ethic sentiment in this country is something else.
