There are millions out there in Nigeria and many here on nairaland who still do not know or understand how to use tech to their advantage, so why does it seem hard to believe the woman may not even alerts configured for her account?

Plumber. woman I buy fruit from. maiguard. If I don't pay some of them on time they start blowing up my phone because they have not seen the alert.

The business discussed here is one with a high money turnover and I guarantee some customers would prefer to do transfer.

You may also not realize it, but the proliferation of cheap Android phones means literally everyone has an Android phone. Okada riders have them and watch and stream videos on them. I can understand some backwards thinking Nigerians advocating embracing difficulty, but I can't understand why you would do the same.

This entire story would not have taken place if this woman had simple sms alerts or banking app

Correct. I always advise both spouse not to allow their other spouse have access to their account. Imagine someone with 4.5m staying in her spouse parents house and allowing her spouse access to her account! Both spouse are to blame.

Most stupid move I always see in people. Too busy to go to an ATM or POS, but once they see an unexpected deduction are not too busy to come to the bank for refund which would likely not happen as they compromised their account willingly.
