Her conduct is unethical. I work in the NHS. Every Trust has Chaplaincy department with many clergymen working under them.
The proper thing to do is to inform her Seniors about such request. They will make proper referral for faith support.
Different people have different wishes in their last days. Very few of them put religion as top priority. We respect their wishes and don’t assume for them.

Don't mind them.

Nigerians are used to day-to-day lawlessness in Nigeria, hence their truancy in another man's land.

That lady make up stories.

Balderdash.

All hospitals in the UK have spiritual councillors, pastors and chapels to pray with 24/7 access.

They can also request a priest/Rev/pastor at all times. That wasn't her role, not unless the patient requested it directly from her.

The disiplinary method within the NHS is long. She would have been called for 3 supervisions, verbal warnings, written warnings. This most likely would have been going on for a long time despite being warned.

She probably got sacked due to several complaints from patients who didn't want to be prayed for or weren't interested.

It is still unethical even if the patient asked.

Are you saying that if a patient asked for sex she would give him and the medical authorities wouldn't even raise an eyebrow?

Prayers and sex are not the same thing please 🙄.

Whenever I’m admitting a patient, it’s part of the admission questionnaire. You Ask them about their faith or lack of. And ask them if they’re interested in prayers or spiritual affirmations.

If they respond no, document it so that it will be in their file and no one will come giving them unsolicited spiritual guidance/support.

If a patient shares your faith or if they request prayers, you can pray with them if you’d like. Or place a spiritual consult to the chaplain and have someone from the chaplaincy come see them.

We do it all the time. Speaking as someone who has worked in different hospitals across different coasts. It’s the same everywhere.

It’s only unsolicited prayer/preaching that is unethical.

Nigerians and religious scams. My baby was in the hospital and an overzealous religious scammer put his hand on her head. I cautioned him immediately. Because they are soliciting for money want to violate ones right by praying unsolicited. It's wrong and absolutely wrong. I serve the living and true God and expect that if you want to pray for anyone, do it in your heart unless asked to.

LMAO! grin grin

I don’t think, she had a room to seek consent, the story said she was praying for a dying patient.
I guess, camera captured her, shouting blood of Jesus, blood of Jesus.... instead of doing basic life support, or administering a drug . And it was at that moment the patient kicked off.
I’m sure, it was out of fear she started praying, not really because she wanted to pray for the patient.

This is ridiculous, there's nothing to fear about a dying patient.

This is not a Christian view. The "as Christian, we should" is either delusional or deceitful.

Deported or not, she served God by praying for the sick. And I hope she doesn't stop.

Knowing the right thing (before God & the law of the land) to do and not doing it is arrogance & disobedience, not "service".

Arrogance & disobedience are the same sins Satan committed in the beginning of times.

Christian Nigerian nurse no doubt. The stupidity that was allowed to weaken every fabric of our nation can NEVER! be accommodated anywhere else.
Government officials would steal money meant for developmental purpose and share with pastors in the name of tithes and donation so that pastors would keep telling mumu followers at the receiving end of their criminality that they should be praying both day and night for miracle that would never happen.

I highly doubt the story. If the person was working for agency, they person wouldn't be deported but only sacked for going against company policy and this is not a safeguarding issue and so will not have any effect on her dbs. The story cooked up, or it may have happened, but them bloggers have added theirs to sweeten the gist.

All the same, prayers doesn't work, never did and never will. There is no God, if there's one, she hates Nigeria.

Look at this certified m0ron. You kept insisting the earth was flat, when I realized I am dealing with another brain dead Nigerian. I sarcastically humored you to be rid of you so I will be left in peace. You are now saying you schooled me? Someone whose tourism revenue master plan is for government to collect N500 at yankari and Oluomo rock that no tourist will go to because the roads are bad and the country in insecure?

Now you are here saying the nurse “might” be at fault for not seeking consent before praying? What is the “might” there?

We’re you dropped as a child or is your stupidity hereditary?

@bolded would be 'Best practice' and NOT pray with your patient as it's not within the remit of nursing.

The job of a nurse is to CARE. Remember the 6 C's, the professional values of a nurse. cool
