is it the religion where it is cheap and easy to harm another because you just dislike them or unhappy with their progress that you are recommending we embrace? A religion that would very well accept human and blood sacrifices to attain certain goals or desires that seem far from reach? analyze it logically and see if such a religion is good to practice

And practicing Christianity and Islam where you can loot billions of dollars, drop bombs from the sky and slaughter millions of people, and then “pray for forgiveness” to erase your atrocities is what you recommend instead?

Before Christianity we built our houses without fences, gates, and barbed wire.

Even without front doors.

Because the idea of someone entering your house to steal was UNHEARD OF.

If you don’t know this, go to your village and ask your elders.

Today with your ‘Jesus’, there’s crime, corruption and kidnapping everywhere.

WHY WOULDN’T THERE BE?

You can commit any atrocity and simply ‘accept Jesus’ or whatever rubbish you people say, and all is forgiven.

African religion does not do ‘forgiveness’.

If you loot, you must pay. If you kill, you must pay. If you steal, you must pay.

UNTIL WE RETURN TO BEING AFRICANS AGAIN, we will keep having multiple problems.

And equating African religion with human sacrifice is the height of ignorance and stupidity. Brazil has millions of practitioners of Yoruba religion. Do you think they do human sacrifices?

Those in Cuba and other places?

You are colonially brainwashed and don’t know anything about African religion, or you would know that what anyone does under it is the responsibility of the person, NOT the religion.

Now you are here saying the nurse “might” be at fault for not seeking consent before praying? What is the “might” there?

We’re you dropped as a child or is your stupidity hereditary?

Nurse thought she was in Nigeria where praying for patient is met with gratitude well well.

Again, the problem with Nigerians japaing is that they take no time to find out about the culture of the country they go to.

The UK, ladies and gentlemen, is a post religious society. That means a large percentage of the population is either atheist or agnostic. They don't do prayers. As a Christian, your job is to pray for them in the privacy of your house. Not to place your hands on them.

But Nigerians are so focused on the money that they do nt focus on the things like culture and so forth. UK ,people ,no be Nigeria.

Am sure she will come home and give testimonies about how she was persecuted for her faith. She was not..she was just plain unwise.

Next time, pray in private. If you must pray directly seek consent first. UK is not a Christian country. Has not been since the colonial times self.
is not the same British bring Christian religion

Yes best practice is to let the spiritual care department handle it.

But you can pray with a patient who requested it and share the same faith as you. There’s nothing against that in nursing care.

You’re not going to ask them to pray for them. You are to ask them if they want a spiritual consult. If yes, Place the consult. But if they then ask you specifically to pray with them, you can say yes or of course say no if you’re not interested

I don’t know why this is an argument.

@bolded shows we are in agreement with 'Best practice'. smiley

The rest of your comment is a bit of a grey area....very risky. cool

In a situation that patient tells the nurse to pray for him/her nko? Will she still be sacked?

Well, Nigerians and our religious obsession, una don see am nau
All hospitals are affiliated to all religion and denominations. Also care homes.
In a patient's folder, if she needs the service of her religious organisation representative, they will be informed and they will come and do the needful.
Re: Nigerian Nurse Sacked & Deported From The UK For Praying For Patient by Pclemenza: 8:59pm On Nov 30, 2023
You don’t know the patience’s religious stance but you assume you are still in Nigeria where prayer is the only glimpse of hope of most of her citizens. The disciplinary action was harsh but I hope other can learn. Leave Nigeria and it’s belief when u set out to Europe and the America.

If she is not a citizen or has the right to remain, she goes back to her country. When you don't know how a system works, do not jump on the band wagon.

She should have asked first.
She has no right to ask. That is not within her duty as a nurse. If the patient tell her she needs prayer, she should hand the information to her manager.
This is a very big offense in uk. Every year, black nurses keep on getting into this kind of trouble yet they don't listen.
It's just like becoming intimate with your patient after discharge. It's like a taboo. Once a patient, always remain one. You are caught, you may lose your pin.

NMC is not smiling at all.

That lady make up stories.

Balderdash.

All hospitals in the UK have spiritual councillors, pastors and chapels to pray with 24/7 access.

They can also request a priest/Rev/pastor at all times. That wasn't her role, not unless the patient requested it directly from her.

The disiplinary method within the NHS is long. She would have been called for 3 supervisions, verbal warnings, written warnings. This most likely would have been going on for a long time despite being warned.

She probably got sacked due to several complaints from patients who didn't want to be prayed for or weren't interested.
You know the drill.
We don't listen.

Prayers and sex are not the same thing please 🙄.

Whenever I’m admitting a patient, it’s part of the admission questionnaire. You Ask them about their faith or lack of. And ask them if they’re interested in prayers or spiritual affirmations.

If they respond no, document it so that it will be in their file and no one will come giving them unsolicited spiritual guidance/support.

If a patient shares your faith or if they request prayers, you can pray with them if you’d like. Or place a spiritual consult to the chaplain and have someone from the chaplaincy come see them.

We do it all the time. Speaking as someone who has worked in different hospitals across different coasts. It’s the same everywhere.

It’s only unsolicited prayer/preaching that is unethical.
Every country is different.
In uk, even if its the same faith, you as a medical personnel have no right to offer prayers.
Never. There is a department for that. Forward the request to the right source.

It's drummed into the ears of nursing students in the first few weeks of nursing. Also it in the nursing bible.
