Ikaeniyan0: so where is Wike from and how did Wike an igbo man become the governor of Rivers State. Another Igbo man is also the governor of Delta state which already has 2 seaports and also close to the atlantic.. you are very ignorant and you're accusing me of ignorance. you have a mental problem |

Irony1: You are the one trying to gaslight and emotional blackmail non-igbos and foreigners into believing that igbos are marginalized when they are no where near been marginalized. everyone is represented in the Federal Civil Service.. what do you want tribes that don't have states to themselves to say.. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

codemaniacs:Did you go through my comment or you're just so shallow to understand my comment?? You said Ikwerres are close to the atlantic ocean and I said NO, Ikwerres are not close to the Atlantic ocean. An urhobo man is the governor of Delta state and where the delta port is located is in warri, and warri is not part of Igbo land. Delta have just one seaport. And Ikwerres are not Igbo. Wike made it clear. 1 Like 1 Share |

Was it neglect that made ibos plan the ibo coup of Jan 1966 that plunged Nigeria into a needless civil war? Ibos should be allowed to govern themselves. Give them their biafra. Gerrard59: Why do Igbos fail to blackmail other Nigerians for the civil war atrocities, in the same way that Jews do for Holocaust and Rwandan Tutsis do for the 1994 genocide? What makes them not focus their efforts on this |
Re: Santiago Stocker Makes Case For Seaport & Infrastructures In South East by SmartyPants(m): 5:50am On Dec 11, 2023 |
Irony1: Well, I don't know too much about the 60s but the reality is that as of today the Lagos - Ibadan axis is probably by far the largest population centre in Nigeria today, and with good spending power! Is this a bad thing? It is not as though it was designed this way to spite the Igbos. In fact, the Igbos have taken advantage of this to establish large trading networks. So I think, really, there is no marginalization in the sense that everyone enjoys the fruit of Lagos - Ibadan commercial viability. Was there any marginalisation involved in how this viability came about? I don't think so at all. Historically, Lagos has always been a nerve centre because of its strategic location, leading both the Portuguese and the British, and even the Benins before them to make Lagos their central port and for the British, their Nigerian colonial capital. Lagos then developed naturally as a capital city, the same way Abuja is doing. None of this was done to spite anybody. So when you look at the situation of Lagos as a major population centre you should understand that it was already a major hub long before independence, with considerable colonial resources already devoted to it. Naturally, those Nigerians seeking to make a success of themselves gravitated towards the colonial centre, which then became the first national capital. What that meant was that the best and brightest of Nigerians were drawn to Lagos leading to further innovation and development such as in the growth of the indigenous financial sector. Similarly, before you talk about establishing a seaport in the East, you have to first ensure that it will be economically viable either for import or for export. If it is for import as is done in Lagos, then the question is, where is the population? Secondly, what will be the economic impact of situating a seaport in Igboland as of today, when Igboland is already a hub of manufacturing but still in its growth phase? The significance of Igbo industries being in a growth phase is that: 1. If you say you want to increase imports without first increasing population, then you're saying you want to drown those growing industries 2. If you say you want to increase exports, then you are saying you want to compete in a global market that you are not yet ready for. The conditions for a seaport are simply not there - not economically, not geographically, and even in terms of security. We are focusing on the wrong things as a nation out of greed and rivalry. As I've said so many times, what we should be doing is harnessing our respective competitive advantages, not competing. Igbos are good at manufacturing and trade - why not manufacture and distribute to the rest of Nigeria? A seaport will not give you any advantages at this time, and not having one is not evidence of marginalization! 1 Like 1 Share |

pansophist: I really want to understand why Igbos feel marginalized. The Igbos fought in 1967 because they were being killed not because they were being marginalised - in fact, at that time, the Igbos dominated the civil service and officer corps of the army. So there seems to be a disconnect in your reasoning. 1 Like 1 Share |

While the neglect part is true, they have no one to blame but their own leaders. Can someone answer the following questions? Did SE get their share of allocations from the Federal Govt year in year out? Which year or years were they denied allocations? Do they feel the funds they got were less than what they should be getting? Did the Federal Govt refuse or fail to do any projects in the SE while at the same time did it in other regions? I have friends from South East, and even they agree that their Govs and Elders have drained their region. Look for the wealthiest past Govs with houses abroad for children...you will find them. They want the biggest houses everywhere at the expense of their own people. When we scream marginalization, we are made to believe its US against THEM when it is actually THEM against THEM. There was a time the Govt spoke about concession of the port...they didnt really want that. Under Buhari, they got the Niger Bridge 2...arguably the largest project during Buhari's regime. The Govt wanted to do more...but for insecurity...caused by who? them vs them. Please I refuse to bring the coolaid. White men do not have special brains or knowledge. Read and LEARN. You can think too. By the way, someone needs to tell them the truth...they are wrong, and their leaders and elders teach them to blame and hate the Govt, so they wont focus on their own lootings. After all, he never spoke about the injustice being metted to other Nigerians like the Fulanis, Ijaws, Gwaris, Hausas, Tivs, Itshekiris, Kanuris.
