Comot there. I assure you that the average Yoruba does not understand more than 50 % of the Yoruba dialect spoken less than 200 miles away in same Yoruba land. Is Ogun for example a distinct word to Bini?
At least you will still know it is Yoruba that is spoken, Bini has a different structure, it is as different from Yoruba as Igbo is to her, unless you are one of those that has never left Oshogbo, it will certainly sound like Swahili to you when you hear it. I bet you will not understand anything

The Oba is not disputing Oranmiyan is his ancestor but he has correctly affirm that this Oranmiyan is a descendant of Izoduwa which later became Oduduwa, go and read his father’s. The same very palace made the correction, are you saying they are lying?

You dey smoke igbo. There is contemporary Yoruba grammar which is understood by most Yoruba. There are also the dialects which may in some places be so different that even other Yoruba people may not consider them Yoruba. The Akoko people for example are Yoruba and bear Yoruba names in the same manner as Bini people, but their dialect is not understood by 99.9% of other Yoruba. There are such places in Kogi state too that consider themselves Yoruba but don't speak contemporary Yoruba.

Easy my brother…wetin gan self, una wahala too much here o……na sin for Edo man to be hailed in language he understands pass.

I have seen a Yoruba man wey sabi Igbo language than Yoruba language. He was born and raised in Onitsha in Anambra and mind you his parents are Yoruba not that his mother is Igbo.

My immediate brother children don’t even know how to communicate in Yoruba language but Bini cuz they spent most of their time with their maternal grandmother who is from Edo State.

I have cousins who are Yoruba but can’t communicate in the language cuz they are brought up in the northern states and only way you can enjoy communicating with them is Hausa language.

Go to Ilorin and ask for Agaka and Edun area, you will be marveled to see Igbo boys speaking in real Ilorin dialect which everybody knows as (FA)

Victor Osimhen is Edo by parents but Lagos by birth so expect him to be versed in Yoruba, recently I saw him singing APALA music which most Yoruba indomie generation cannot sing.

has been treated here above again and again that there is no Yoruba spoken in Edo state.

Evboesi has treated above that Akoko Edo are not Yorubas. They are Edos living around the Akoko area of the Yorubas, only if you read some of the post above, Akoko Edo speak Yoruba but not as a first language, a first language defines intuitively who a person is, when you study the groups in the Akoko Edo local government, you will know the Akoko Edo tag as the Name of the Local government is just a pointer that there are some Edos living around the Akoko area of the Yorubas.

Now what are these groups, you have Ososo, Okpe, Uneme, Okpamheri, Akuku, Igarra, etc, all are Edo groups save for Igarra, all these languages has been studied and seen not to be remotely close to Yoruba . It isAkin to Benin, Esan, Etsako, Urhobo, Isoko, Owan who are in the same language family. Go and read comparative Edoid by Ben Elugbe.

Bini people don’t bear Yoruba names except those ones whose ancestors expressly migrated from Yoruba land and settled on the Fringes of Edo land and did not fully naturalize, it is not the proper thing for an Edo man to bear Yoruba name. And they are at most just about 5% percent of the general population.

There is no literature known to man that classified Bini as a Yoruba dialect, i mean Bini has been studied far and wide linguistically, if you can produce one, i will give you fifty thousand

Do you even know the meaning of distinct, distinct means something that is not indigenous, do you even know the meaning of distinct. Ogun is a Yoruba God and was borrowed from Bini’s Yoruba surrounding neighbors hence it is a distinct practice. It came from outside.

Nothing is disproven, he only can be regarded as an Edo by ancestry, that man cannot speak his Edo language, he is a full Yoruba by naturalization. Let Osimhen’s father try it if he is wealthy enough with his Edo surname and see if they will not boo him

Do you even know what naturalized in that sense means, Osimhen does not have a single Yoruba name, how then is he a naturalized Yoruba? Osimhen just happens to grow up in Lagos just the way Brainjotter or Genevieve grew up in Lagos and can speak the language. That does not make them naturalized Yoruba. You lots should go to school! I switched it to his father because he is not yet 35

Aganga is already in his third generation and he is 68 already, what does that portends? His father migrated to Yoruba land when Nigeria was not even a thing.all his names are Yoruba names, he does not know how to speak Edo and he might not even know the road to his father’s village.

Oh, I see!

One is not "naturalised" until one both has a local name in their names AND is over 35 years old?

That is the definition of "naturalised" in your school, that you are teaching us that did not go to school?

So Gilbert Ramez Chagoury is not a naturalised Nigerian, right? He just happened to grow up in Nigeria?

You are not an historian, according to history, when you are talking of naturalization, you are talking of a man that has stripped off his old culture and become a part of the new stock even though they were not originally a member of that stock. Nigeria constitution does not recognize naturalization within itself, it only recognizes state of origin, not state of residence, no matter how much you stayed within a foreign land,(foreign land means any of the tribe within Nigeria that is not your own tribe)you are almost always referred back to your homeland when political issues arises, i believe that is why he said Olusegun Aganga parents already migrated to Yorubaland before the foundation of Nigeria. His immediate parents were even born there.

In every tribe, there are the original stock, and there are others who migrated to join them,in most cases they are swallowed up, residuals of their former cultures and language are being stripped off them those are the naturalized stock. Take for example, the Obaseki family today migrated to Beni. Originally from Igboland, but today do not bear Igbo names m, do not speak it and has totally worn the apparel of the prevalent culture they met on ground in terms of the language and the culture.

Many families in Lagos state today Obanikoro, Eletu Odibo, etc were originally Edos historically, but they have naturalized today wearing totally the apparel of the prevalent group they met on ground

It was not even still easy for Aganga who has naturalized totally into the Yoruba fold and whose family has spent over a hundred years in Yoruba land let alone an Osimhen Or a Genevieve Nnaji or a Brainjotter who have no business with Yoruba aside been born there and can speak the language

Stop the laughing emoji, it passes you off as a clown, only if you know how to read, it is so simple to understand. Osimhen, Brainjotter and Genevieve Nnaji were born after 1960, their ethnic group has already been defined, aside the fact that they were born there and can speak the language, they do not identify as such. Their old culture is not stripped off them, i believe they still know the way to their father’s village.
