As usual you can't see the ramifications of their 'hypothesis' which was proven wrong. I would not mind getting funded to research on whether the sky is blue |

Budaatum. Climate change. Elon Musk is hated by the left. But can't fix stupid. The left pushes for climate change. JB WhiteHouse will mandate rental EVs or rail for all government travel. Elon Musk laughs ball the way to the bank and the way they hate him. Maybe he should now buy Disney and get rid of woke box office flops.😆😆 But on a serious note climate scam is about govt micromanaging it's subjects. Under climate change bans on gas stoves, pizza fried using coal, vehicle limits are becoming normalized. You might think it's crazy but One day Everyone will get a digital ID able to track travel carbon footprint, limiting your annual flights. Human breath can now " breathe a sigh of relief" as research uncovered otherwise.

basilico: I don't expect you to comprehend the complexity of collective choice, since basic data alludes you, but is it gas guzzler loving magas that are buying carbon footprint reduced Musk cars and not the woke left? Is Left Biden not giving tax credit so Musk cars are made in USA and not bought from China? Some hate Musk and drive Musk cars, and some are stupid idiots. basilico:Let us for one tiny moment, just assume climate change is a scam, basilico, can you not see how banning polluters can be beneficial? Just think that the more gases guzzlers produce, the more their intake by humans increases, or do you think cutting trees and breathing gas will not harm the human race if it doesn't do anything to the climate and the world? I don't think climate change is a scam, because I am aware that some will hear climate change and at least think about their own environment, which might help oil spills get eliminated in Delta and reduce the polluting gases that made si run away from Portharcourt. Breath is currently free, but this climate you insist on misregarding like it's infinite will be digital id with a meter attached to your nostril so your oxygen consumption can be charged per breathe direct to your credit card. |

Nigeria is importing old cars that are banned for polluting without realising we are depopulating ourselves with the banned fumes as if our own lifes and existence are worth less in the world.

Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by basilico: 6:08pm On Dec 16, 2023 |
budaatum: I'll make it clear. Environmental pollution and climate change are not exactly the same. Climate change is a scam because the gas being targeted is CO2. An increase in CO2 results in an increase in vegetation, the world is more greener when there is more CO2. Greenhouses esp large ones pump CO2 to increase crop production. Environmental poliution by reducing smog and gases like Carbon Monoxide is fine with me. Climate change was previously global warming, was previously global cooling and God knows what else Computer models are the ones that predict changes, their predictions have all been wrong over the years. Climate change consensus is quoted, yet those who ask for the data are never provided. I also joked some years ago here that those big fuel American guzzlers will cost pennies by 2030 in Nigeria after they "all" switch to EV. Some people screaming hoarse think power comes from the socket outlets. Finally this week.. Reality in the form of 4000 dealers writing President Biden to tell him they can’t sell or give away the EVs infesting their lots, so perhaps it would be a good idea to please reign in those mandates. EVs are not selling enough ( $50k and over ) though JB has $7.6B to setup chargers every 50 or so km along interstate highways There are ways to ensure cleaner internal combustion engine for health purposes, an outright ban on fossils is madness. There is no science that proves CO2 causes global warming. If they can't predict snow amount How can they predict that 1.5°C is the tipping point P/S. I also think oil is formed mostly from natural processes and not from dead organisms. All that oil found all over several kilometers underground , how did that stuff get buried? Was there such abundant life before humans could write. |

budaatum: Nigerians don't import cars from the Uk. I don't know why you put up London matter here. A way they use to charge car owners more proving exactly what basilico is saying. In California, they have gas tax - extortion |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by budaatum: 10:01pm On Dec 16, 2023 |
bemeruca: Years old polluting cars banned from any country Nigeria imports from stupid. Or does 10 year old Camry not pollute you enough? And what owners do you mean by "charge car owners more"? The ones being extorted in gas tax on top of $45000+ plus huge parking fees and maintenance to drive electric and pollute themselves less, or the Nigerian buying cheap 10 year old second hand filled cars with petrol that's illegal in Texas and that shortens life? |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by bemeruca: 11:43pm On Dec 16, 2023 |
budaatum: Old cars are not illegal in Texas. However, depending on their age and location, they may be subject to additional regulations. In certain counties that are designated by the Texas Department of Public Safety, vehicles have to undergo mandatory annual emissions testing in addition to the regular safety inspections. Vehicles that are 25 years or older do not need to go through emissions testing, but they still require annual safety inspections. Vehicles registered as antiques or classics do not require either emissions testing or safety inspections. However, these vehicles have restrictions on how much they can be driven per year. So in summary - older cars can still be driven in Texas as long as they pass inspections and comply with usage limits for antique/classic registered vehicles. Texas does not completely ban older vehicles but does impose regulatory requirements on them. 1 Like |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by basilico: 6:40am On Dec 17, 2023 |
bemeruca: There are countries in Eastern and Central Africa that didn't have limits on vehicle year of manufacture. As such you would easily find gas guzzling 25 year olds belching on the roads They realized they could reduce the fuel import bills mainly because of dollar demand by restricting car age to 5-7 years These are more fuel efficient. The main purpose was really not pollution or climate change but to stabilize dollar reserves. A country spending a billion dollars a month on importing fuel leaves other import sectors starved of foreign currency, leading to local currencies losing against the dollar. |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by bemeruca: 7:09am On Dec 17, 2023 |
basilico:You make some good points about how countries in Eastern and Central Africa have historically not restricted the age of imported vehicles. This resulted in very old, inefficient cars on the roads - 25 year old "gas guzzlers" as you described them. The economic and environmental impacts of this were clearly unsustainable. As you noted, a major motivation for recently imposing restrictions on imported car age (to 5-7 years old) was reducing spending on imported fossil fuels. When a country is spending billions of dollars yearly importing gasoline and diesel, it drains foreign currency reserves, contributes to inflation, and reduces budgets for other critical needs likes healthcare and education. While climate considerations may not have been the original policy driver, the shift to importing more fuel efficient vehicles will have environmental benefits too. Especially in crowded urban centers, reducing air pollution from old, smoky vehicles has major public health advantages. As with any policy change, there are some disadvantages and open questions. The higher sticker price of newer used cars could strain some buyers. Maintenance issues can also crop up when people accustomed to older vehicles switch to late models. And it remains to be seen exactly how much fuel import demand will fall. However, on balance, setting reasonable restrictions on vehicle age seems a sensible course. It allows people to still access affordable transportation while steering countries away from economically and environmentally reckless outcomes. Setting accompanying policies like investments in public transit would also help balance mobility for all income levels. 1 Like |
