Dealing With Misogyny (Anti-Women Posts) On Nairaland by Seun(m): 9:28pm On Jan 07
Hello Everyone,

There have been numerous complaints about anti-women, anti-feminist and misogynistic content on Nairaland, especially in this section.

This is not unrelated to the rising popularity of people like Sola, who are trying to fight back against the perceived excesses of woke western feminism. But it has brewed too much toxicity.

It has driven too many women out of the Romance section and out of Nairaland. They feel that they are always being attacked by male Nairalanders who seem to hate and despise them.

How can we make women feel welcome in the Romance section and on Nairaland? What rules should we put in place to bring women back and make them very happy?

Cheers.

First, you have to understand that people will always have opinion. Just that some people are not mild when they want to express themselves.

Second, anti this and uncle that comments really depends on what side of the extremity you are. So if you want to pick a side, what will the anti-men comments hater say?

Third, I am disappointed that you mentioned a twitter person when you could have used someone from nairaland.com for your illustration.

Four, I really don't think they hate women here. Just a sprinkle of them who want things there way and don't get it always scream to high heaven.

Five, it's a forum. If you don't like a thread. Can't you just skip.

Six, accept that what you are trying to achieve is counterintuitive. The biggest thread on this board is a so-called women hating thread but it gets a comment almost everyday.

Seven, now you want to fight for the women, who will speak for men, you inclusive!

Real men don't hate women—they just don't want disrespect and dragging of duties as assigned by their forefathers.

Men (husband and boyfriends) just want faithfulness, submissiveness and respect.

Women feel offering these 3 things = slavery. (All thanks to Western media).

There is only one solution and that is: women should obey those three things I listed above. When they do, no sensible man will ever say bad things about them.

Failure to do this, African men won't keep quiet to avoid being emasculated like American men.

A faithful, submissive (not slave) and respectful woman is the most beautiful flower on Earth.

No solution until tradition is restored. Or, deactivate every male account on Nairaland so that women can be the only ones to create posts and comment while the men watch like voiceless and powerless SIMPs.

This will even help more men focus on money and self-improvement than creating threads on NL day and night.

Straight women roam around where there are men—be it toxic male or not. If all the men leave or get silenced, these women you want to fight for will get bored and also leave. The Romance Section will collapse. #Fact.

Oga seun, leave all this plenty talk. As long as your mods respond to reports quickly, people will be encouraged to use the report button. That covers just about everything.

Have mods that are working and visible In the section . If I know a mod is around and responds to comments in posts then I'll feel careful. At a time all the mods last seen was 3 or 4 months ago on the day I checked.

Also if mods respond to when people report posts then I feel they will be more encouraged. E.g when ai report some abusive posts, all I know is they are removed from my view but I dont know If anything is done.

By improving Moderating activities on this section.

Moderators presence in this forum is almost non-existent. This is why so many anti female posts are left untouched.

1) The unwillingness or inability to admit that women are mistreated both on this forum and in real life is in itself an offense. I’d start from there.

2) Sometimes threads that present the case of a murdered or missing woman/girl are met with disgusting comments from men. Look into that.

3) let the MODs actually enforce the rules against people that trivialize domestic violence and rape. What’s the point of rules if they are not enforced

The problem I have with the so called feminist is simple, they want others to fight their battle, like Seun doing right now. They also want same men to subscribe their phone, feed them, clothes them and the only job they want is dancing half naked on social media.

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Amina Mohammed, Uche Ekwunife, Ngozi Chimamanda Adichie, Alakija, Agbani Derego, Rita Dominic, and other leading African women who have achieved something meaningful and productive in life, do not consider home duty as slavery, but Precious with carryover in school, urgent 2k begging, won't allow someone to hear word.

Most of them don't even know the etymology of feminism, how it started, the tenets of feminism, the goals and objectives, talk more of womanism. They just jump on movement without comprehending the nitty gritty or intellectual compass of such theory.

How many happy feminist do you know? Come on online to rant and mislead the gullible young girls, then cry miserably because of loneliness at home.

Women attacking men, the man who is the referee too gave the man red card, the other man who is just passing by jumped on the man and started slapping him, shouting" you dey beat woman" , You don't put emotions in business, ban those who promote rape, not men, be logical men are rape victim also, so apply the rule to both gender if you want to promote gender equality, don't throw men under the bus.

So the first order of business is to hire new moderators, particularly women, who can enforce the existing rules against harassment, derailment, etc.

Not necessarily women, but people who are ready to sanitize this section.

The current mods are all women. Yet their impact is hardly felt. So the solution wouldn't be to limit your search to just women. Rather look for people who are ready to moderate without being biased. And you can be assured that they won't take sides when punishing an offender.

You have two eyes for a reason stop using one, a woman just cash out millions in real life just posting she wakes up to cook for her husband

If men aint showing love or sensitivity are the ladies doing any better undecided

are ladies here saying cool and nices things to the guys or its just an entitlement mentality men must pamper women

Injustice & Maltreatment knows no gender, in real world only a woman will have no job or hustle but drive in big cars & live in mansion

We all are victims here ... no gree for anybody
