So with what you've just said, does it make sense that she didn't buy the most expensive and most essential thing like the bed you mentioned but instead bought the much cheaper and less essential duvet?

Before releasing money for any necessity next time, tell her to make a list of things she'll need and prices.


Vet the list, take out the unwanted, then she has to buy exactly what's on the list.
Then you'll be sure that anything that's missing, she'll have to replace it.

I blame you to a large extent. During my first baby, i bought 90% myself and gradually both online and offline. My wife only bought those things she felt the baby. I believe no matter how busy u re , u can always order online or even if don't know what to buy, u have ur mother, sisters or even female colleagues. Get involved

No one must do beyond their earning capacity. Davido would give 100 million naira but that doesn't mean you should too. Another person might not be able to afford 200k and they will still get result by prioritising the most initial basic needs.

they just need money to solve another problem definitely not for the baby and her mother is the master planner(,anytime they requested for another payment ask for list of things bought and proper account and be ready for war

You should go to where they sell Baby items in the market yourself. You'll find a guide who would tell you all you need to buy. That should help

Things the child will need as least for the next three months. Maybe they see the guy as a Maga and they decide to bill him.

It is very painful that they put him through such expenses.

Secondly, you could have told her to write down all that will be needed. U should have started about 3 months ago to start buying them one after the other. By now, u would have bought the most tangible ones and then given her some cash to buy the little ones. That was what I did. And it worked.

Why not take time and seat with your wife and write list and prioritize things that most important and take her for shopping so that you will realize that the cost of baby stuff that is 100% imported with $$$ is expensive.

I think they are playing a fast one on you . Her mother is advising her wrongly

The mistake your made was giving her the money to buy them without both of you coming to am agreement on what and what to buy .

In my own case we wrote down a list together and decide on what to buy and what to leave out .

Sorry to ask what of your own mum? You should have talk sense to your wife head she will be the one to tell her mother 400k in buying most of the things you have at home how much will they now ask from you for naming of the child I hate nonsense and to tell you the true people will still give the baby some gifts too

Whether private or public hospital there is always a baby delivery list ..


Ask the nurses or matron to give u the list ..there are lots of mothrr and child shops around u can breeze in and get the items ..

if the mama can't stand to care for the baby, then she isn't ready yet to have a child. Parenting involves serious alot of sacrifice. Most people can't even afford an orthopedic bed, you want the baby to feel neck and body pain baa.

after spending 400k on baby things, nothing else is coming later, except the medical bills. Even pampers for the first 1 months is covered.

Some of those things she won't even use, the baby cot I bought was a waste, most children want to stay close to their mom's. If na so she be, you would have gone to do the shopping with her instead of your MIL. Truth be told, things are very expensive now but she won't use most of those things she bought.
