I see Transcorp plc owning at least a little bit above 40% of the total shares of Transcorp Power. Both company stocks will crash significantly in the coming weeks but I see them quickly recovering. Transcorp power surely will be the darling of investors.
Transcorp power won't crash.

Una dey play with Cowboys
Cowboys everywhere. It just takes me to a news item I ready this morning.

Before its commissioning, The owners of the new power plant in Abia state wrote the new state government informing them that the state through the immediate past regime, purchased some stake(shares) in the new plant.

That letter was never made public, only for the new Governor himself and the same owners of the power plant to come out upon commissioning to claim that the state has no stake/share in the plant.

They want to "shift" the abia people's stake in the new plant and move it to private hands.

Little wonder Kiyosaki never advocates share investment except you want to buy controlling interest.
If you no dey in control, sorry is your name.

Tony and Wale are the worst of the modern day Capitalists in Nigeria. Tony, Mr White , The Celebrity Billionaire.

Everything Otedola said about Tony is true. Good and honest people don't play the way he plays. How do we attract foreign investors if we keep playing this dirty. The saddest part is , he will get away with this nonsense cos Na President friend

I don't blame people that avoid NSE like a plague.

I found that investing in US stocks is far more profitable in the short term than NGN stocks. In just two months the US stock i was experimenting with have more than doubled in value and this in not counting the dollar rate i bought it at N1200 which is now about 1500.

Oga better for them to allot shares for shareholders as they did in ucap and Afriprud than Transcorp to own 51% of the power. How much dividend do you think shareholders will get in their 51% holding considering the huge os?
51% ,Tony and his group will still embezzle as admin expenses.

I want to believe that current shareholders of transcorp will benefit by way of price appreciation in the share price considering the close to 2 trillion naira market capitalisation of the new transcorp power.
Dividend might not be attractive but that is the way of the billionaire on NSE.

Recall the post above?
Apparently, item No 3 has been cut off from the equation, thus changing the dynamics of items No 4, 5 and 6.
Perhaps the part in bold may well play out.

Here's what you should know;

The absence of a share allotment amidst an unbundling/spin-off of the power arm should it materialize, defies the basic logic of equity investing.
...it's like asserting that what was clearly a SUBSET to a SUPERSET can become a DISJOINT SET or even the superset itself without an established process of dissolution.

TRANSCORP POWER was a subset of TRANSCORP PLC and not a disjoint set or a superset of the latter.
Well, so we thought!

Perhaps the plan is to have you settle for what could well be a small part of the ACCRUALS (accrued earnings) from TRANSCORP POWER post listing. ...and if that is the case, then you do not need a soothsayer to tell you that Mr. ToE would want to have a complete grip of the proposed power arm (possibly 80--90% or at the very least 2/3 of total OS) to control or "maneuver" those future accruals.

Nigeria is indeed a funny place!

My projection;

• Attention may well shift to TRANSCORP POWER in the near term. (value accretive potential in view)

• For good reason, TRANSCORP PLC remains a hold in the short term as "there just might be some available juice to sip from it".
But am not so sure if that "juice" can last for so long. "The pack could be emptied at some point"... specially when you remember that energy revenue (from transcorp power) contributes a substantial proportion of TRANSCORP PLC's AsQ/Y, CGPR, CROIC, ROCE, and EM.

Should I buy, sell or hold TRANSCORP PLC?
Again, a lot depends on ones investment personality, with special emphasis on whether they're a trader, investor or both.
It's imperative to note that my initial recommendation of TRANSCORP PLC was at N1.14 and subsequently at below N2.

TRANSCORP PLC? ...I'll search for reward having a traders mindset.
TRANSCORP POWER? ...I'll look out for value having an investors mindset.

@ ToE & co may have shortchanged minority investors, but at this point I care less about that. ...it's now strictly business for us!
But that's just me so you might also want to follow your instinct.

DISCLOSURE: This post was made to guide all, particularly those who sent mails and messages asking for my view on the proposed listing of TRANSCORP POWER.
...it is however NOT an investment advice.

CAVEAT: The need for due diligence should still take higher precedence ahead of this post.

Regards

I've done some inquest-based analysis and estimates on this TRANSCORP PLC and TRANSCORP POWER brouhaha, and I believe I have an idea of what would likely play out.

When supersets become subsets, it's only a matter of time before they become disjoint sets.
Nigeria is truly a funny place.
...indeed there was a country!

For those still sending me mails and messages, I already said that TRANSCORP PLC remains a hold despite what appears to be a play of some sought of financial engineering shenanigan.
It's important to understand the illustration I gave on "sipping from the juice" while it last.
Again, a lot would depend on ones investment personality and goals.

Going forward, I already said I'll prefer to search for reward having a traders mindset for TRANSCORP PLC and look out for value having an investors mindset for TRANSCORP POWER.

But then again, this is still NOT an investment advice.
Due diligence still applies as always.

I am done talking about TRANSCORP PLC/POWER.
Last I checked, there are nearly a 100 quoted companies on the NGX.

Another way of looking at this Transcorp issue...

Should an investor who rode Transcorp from 1, 2 or even 3 naira all the way to 14 naira complain too much, considering how much return on investment within such a short period?

They can complain but not too much. All they need do is pray for opportunity to run with their profit if they so choose on Monday morning.

Away from transcorp. I once said the market will not crash because politics is now at play in nse.The spokes person for the government has already announced 100k ASi as part of this government success which they will put on thr score card
The president had meetings with the billionaires not long. Then Tony fired the first shot. The next is alhaji to fire his own via listing of the food and subsequently other companies. The third may be wale, likely hood of not delisting oando. This 3 big entities can push ASi to 150k by end of the year.Remember the government wants all the dollars it can get to stabilise the naira. Asi at 150k will attract FPI into the country....this is me thinking aloud .

There will be panic sell on Monday but before you sell, I will advice you wait and see how the listing will be done.
All eyes on Tony now.
He has to keep Transcorp price afloat because of criticisms and court cases which will arise as a result of this power listing

At least with the listing of the power subsidiary, market will welcome the stock with a week bull and Asi will move back to 104k.

My champion will be on a daily 10% all through the week.I was in a dream last night.i don't know if it is malaria oooo, Heineken sealed the exit deal at #17 and champion brew was on a steady rise up to #15 in that my dream last night.

Uncle Tee!!! Is this how Berkshire built his portfolio size? Honestly, I was hoping Transcorp will morph into something like that, but has instead continue to run Transcorp as a creche and nursery department. grin

Or is it the Omaha way? grin

If he wanted to be fair, he should have reconstruct the outstanding shares and reduce to 10billion units and relist the stock at #60 then the stock will find it's way to #500 level to the benefit of him and his shareholders.

Well bargain hunters this KENNY ROGERS GAMBLERS song is for your listening pleasure

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImAO-I1cJnE?si=MbH8b5frjbjeGADb

On a warm summer's evening
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler
We were both too tired to sleep
So we took turns a-starin'
Out the window at the darkness
The boredom overtook us
And he began to speak
He said, "Son, I've made a life
Out of readin' people's faces
Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don't mind my sayin'
I can see you're out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
I'll give you some advice"
So I handed him my bottle
And he drank down my last swallow
Then he bummed a cigarette
And asked me for a light
And the night got deathly quiet
And his face lost all expression
Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
Every gambler knows
That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for
Is to die in your sleep"
And when he'd finished speakin'
He turned back toward the window
Crushed out his cigarette
Faded off to sleep
And somewhere in the darkness
The gambler he broke even
But in his final words
I found an ace that I could keep
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
You've got to know when to hold 'em (when to hold 'em)
Know when to fold 'em (when to fold 'em)
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
