GT: 45.85

Imagine picking Elephant @27 and selling @43 in less than 2 or 3 weeks!
I wonder the type of stock that can deliver that to you in 6-12 months as a dividend.......not plenty on the Exchange 😁
The big question is what is behind fbn rise.Is it possible the result coming or manipulation by otedola and Co.I don't want to see fbn fall back to #20 plus if thr is no serious FA backing this result
I am so tempted to japa from fbn then something else Is saying wait and see result/dividend declared

Wow! Never even knew this. That means IEI is a big cashcow for the next two years. It ended on full bid today anyway. We watch and see what happens tomorrow. I am well loaded in it. If it can get to just even N3 then I may just take the loot and go to rest in my village to return next year January. grin

Likewise USD vs NAIRA

And Inflation @31.7%?

Even with the rate hike. Most successful fixed rate offers has been revolving btw 19- 20 %.It is not a big deal because I once did 18% during gej government when economy was far better
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 5:06pm On Mar 19
You echoed my view on fixed instruments (the bolded). Though I also use them.
As a matter of fact, I recently used some funds for fixed instruments late last year.
If I had done JIJO with those funds during the recent bull, I know what I would have gotten.
Whoever is more comfortable with the LESS RISKY might be inclined to go for such... grin

Why do you think Tony and family bought back into transcorp last year. Whatever they sold at the time that post was made must have been bought between the time Otedola almost did a hostile takeover and when customs street told us here that some large purchases will be made at about 6-7 naira all within last year.

Searching further Ote$ was even in Transcorp from the beginnings.
Looks like the company passed through various phases of uncertainty.
Tony over time took control and bought in more and more (perhaps codedly). And returned strongly recently (perhaps over the last 10 years and even more over the last two years when Ote$ attempted a late repositioning).

I was searching for the name of the other Tony (younger than Tony Elumelu) that at one time led Trasnsorp. And there seem to be no trace of his name on the web. Please does anyone remember the full name of this other Tony.

I am wondering too what is happening in FBNH. My suspicion is it is not about results beyond what has already been released as unaudited 2023 FY. That unaudited result indicated a book Value of N47, EPS of N 8.56 and Comprehensive Income per Share of N 20. Ideally the EPS should be repeatable year in and year out going forward with increments sef. While the Comprehensive per share suggest a mark of N12 per share from forex gains (Realized & Unrealized) at (perhaps exchange rate of +/-N850) Hence Ote$ or another major investor see's the bank as grossly undervalued and is taking his or her position and in the process bringing out the correct valuation in the market.

With this figures. Do you think fbn could surprise the market with dividend of like #3.00. Since ote is now the chairman and knows how to share the money

N2 to 4 looks doable. I will not be surprised if N3 is paid. I will only be surgrised if less than N1.5 is paid.

I have been looking at the 52 weeks high/low of the various stocks, Ikejahotel and Multiverse stand out for me. They both did about to 10x. I am wondering was there any chart, indicator, anything that gave an indication that something like that was about to happen? It will be nice to know.

If someone had invested 2 million when they were selling at the 52 weeks low and sold at the 52 weeks high, he would have made 20 million, now that sounds crazy.

Osidinma, did your python scripts catch it at the time?

yMcy56:

Well done bros/sis! cool
I actually believed this is very possible in a year.....even more than this........ especially with the situation of NGX market in the past one year.
* One of the key words "TEMPERAMENT"......and, timing as well as ability to cut your losses and move on as a trader.

Let's look at one or two instances:
* In a year ago, around this time, CHAMS for instance is trading at 0.22/0.25 range
* With 500k, you can conveniently pick 2M units
* CHAMS as at yesterday closed above N2! Even went as high as above N3 in the course of the year.
** N2 x 2M units will give N4M; while N3 x 2M will give N6M!!
** This is all still within a year! What about JP, CWG, Mansard, etc?
So, turning such amount to X10 was possible.
Even if you consider FA sound stock b/4 someone chip it in, go and check the price of NAHCO, SUGAR, SALT, Conoiil, MRS, TRANSCORP, Transco Hotels, IKEJA HOTELS, the Banks, etc in a year ago.

* It is well. smiley

Even when you are number one on the queue on daily basis, it would take you up to 2 weeks to sell off your multiverse. You can get trapped if you operated with huge fund. It's not so liquid on your way down. Some days you have just 2k units sold and some about 14k in the past 2 weeks.

My average for FBNH before I started selling small small was N5
Due to devaluation, the so called high prices of banks is not real. As the prices are better underpinned by book values and EPS unlike previous peaks. So there are probalilities for further upsides if impairment charges do not create much damage. Also if all these examinations do not turn up something bad. https://moneycentral.com.ng/exclusive/article/panic-in-banks-as-cbn-sends-special-examiners-over-n20trn-owner-related-loans/

Never in the history of Nigeria has everything skyrocketed in price as we presently have. Everything is increasing in price, yet some people are complaining high price of stock market. Our market capitalisation is still below Egypt and South Africa market capitalisation. Una tink sey 1 trillion market capitalisation na child's play.

If you are looking for another interest rates hike, you will be disappointed. There is cycle in everything. I think it has peaked.

I think there may be a rate hike albeit marginal. Just my opinion.

A rate hike for the ffg reasons:

1. Inflation figures released for Feb 2024 shows that inflation rate rose to 31.70%, up from 29.90% in January 2024, marking an increase of 1.80%. Also, month-on-month headline inflation rate in February 2024 reached 3.12%, an increase of 0.48% from January 2024’s rate of 2.64%. The inflation demon is still on its heightened mission.

2. The CBN Governor has made his stand known that achieving monetary and price stability is a major priority of his regime. Though, inflation figure is not the only yardstick used by the MPC committee to make MPR decision. There are several other factors.

3. Furthermore, while delivering his keynote address on Nov 24, 2023 at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) 58th Annual
Bankers’ Dinner, the CBN Governor stated this - "the CBN is confident that with continued tightening measures for the next two quarters, we will be able to effectively manage inflation." In essence, we are yet to see the last of the rate hike if we are to go by this statement. These two quarters being referred to here are the 1st two quarters in 2024 (Jan to Jun, 2024).

4. Infact, when the last MPC meeting was conducted, Cardoso himself voted for the MPR rate to be hiked by 425-basis-points to 23 percent. However, the 12-member committee instead settled for a 400-basis-points hike to 22.75 percent. Cardoso’s rate target was the biggest after Aloysius Ordu, who voted for an increase of 450 basis points, confirming him as one of the most hawkish members of the MPC.

Source: https://businessday.ng/business-economy/article/for-cardoso-nigerias-jumbo-rate-hike-was-not-big-enough/

5. Furthermore, despite the outcry on rate hike, this is not the highest rate hike in the history of Nigeria. In 2001 when we experienced similar situation, the MPC committee did a 650 basis point hike, jacked up 1year TBills to around 22% from 15%, increased CRR drastically, etc. Same orthodox methods being used back then is being used now. Cardoso is of that era, time and age so he knows what he is doing. Its deliberate.

There are some other reasons that I can give that points to a further rate or why it should be increased but make I stop here.

6. On flipside, the worst case scenario is to keep the rate flat as Cardoso and Aloysius Ordu are not the only members of the MPC committee. Other majority members may vote flat. But lets wait and see as the next MPC meeting is now scheduled to hold on Monday and Tuesday next week (March 25 and 26, 2024).

These are just my hypothesis.

Good to read from you.How is this hike going to really help bring down inflation. The main thing driving inflation is dollars exchange rate to naira. Even without the increasse to 20% plus for government fixed securities. It will still be overscribe .So why is the government borrowing at this high rate when it can still achieve the same at lower rate.I can't just understand this book logic they are applying for naija economy .
How do they intend to pay at maturity beside printing more naira they are trying to withdraw

Hmmmmm,

At this stage I can only encourage those in the seat to sit tight

Banks are preparing to increase their capital base so that they can participate in big ticket transaction, GT wants to explore equity option, others might explore merger and acquisition, others too will explore debt options.....

All in all the banks have to look really good for their respective brides therefore they have to carry the market along

I fear financial engineering as a retail investor especially in Nigeria

I see the current events in the market as a black swan event ( hitting 800%-2000%) profit by just sitting tight for 4 years....

Many businesses out there are not making money, their increased revenue stems from inflationary pressures and the country is just stemming the tides

The dust will probably settle in a year or 2 years time by which businesses can now plan and execute their plans confidently

Good morning,
You can get others at those prices but the bolded has done it's bonanza some days ago.
The core investor bought at 1.60.I think IEI will rise above 1.60 and hang around 1.85 to 2 till Q1 result is officially out. Expect 100 to 200% returns from IEI in a space of 12 -24months.

I think there is another 10% full bid today.
Take advantage when the elders are in charge.
