Price of food isn't just going to drop and this is not about Tinubu.
Naira started dropping like a month ago.

Seller aggressively stocked up their warehouses when Naira climb to N1700-1800 thinking it will climb further, so wait for sometime, some of these people already have 3months worth of items stocked up and they will always sell at the price they bought

So After the 3months when they have Finished selling the Items Stocked in their Shops,

Are you sure Prices will come down?๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜•

Everytime I go out to buy my baby stuff the price must increase. Bought NaN 5,700 last 2 weeks, went back last week to buy it at 6,800.

Cerealac @ 3,200, but now 4,000. Diapers jumbo size @ 6,800, now 8,000.

Let's see what happens from this new week since there's a significant naira gain this period.

While this should be the norm, which I agree with 100%, however some sellers are and were intentionally raising the prices or kept it high.
I had 2 experiences, one when the dollar was high and another just yesterday.
When dollar to naira was high, I went to a pharmacy to get antimalarial drug, which was supposed to be 1,300, the pharmacy said its 1,500, I couldn't argue with him cos of the urgency so I paid.
I had need for another one and decided that I would not buy from there but went further ahead, on getting there that one said 1,800 undecided undecided undecided I was like who send me, I should have bought from 1,500 own, I couldn't even tell the pharmacy guy that it's actually 1,300, I immediately told him its 1,500, he said it has increased shocked I said how, when, he said few weeks ago, I said habaaa, that it's 1,500 and I was about leaving he said I should come and pay 1,500... he actually intentionally increased it from 1,300 to 1,800, but cos I needed it I had to pay 1,500 again. After like 2 days, i went to my normal pharmacy where I now got for 1,300 as backup incase of next time.

Just yesterday I went to a small supermarket to get bread, a lady was standing in for the lady thats always there so she seems not to kmow prices of some items, a man came there to buy detergent which he claims to be 250 before now and that it shouldn't exceed 300, a woman who was there who probably has her own shop too said its 400, they were dragging it, so the lady tried putting a call across to the owner of the shop but couldn't, the owner of the shop's younger brother came there and said its 300, the woman couldn't say pim, I was like na these kind women dem dey cause problem for people......so some of these price increase is kind of artificial

Thatโ€™s right.

The few times Iโ€™ve challenged the sales people, they reduced the price.

Itโ€™s a game. See how much you can make by making arbitrary price increases.

It canโ€™t last forever

Nope it's not about dollar rather it is just the Nigerian factor. When I was telling people the hike in price has nothing to do with dollar some fools were arguing silly like they understood what is at play, oya dollar dey trade about 1200 something oya make price come down na.

It doesn't work that way

Okay, thank you.
1. Like hospitals don't write drugs for people to go and buy at the pharmacy.
2. The drugs were meant for different people perhaps you thought it was used by same person, no one will use same antimalarial drugs just immediately after completing one.
3. Why license pharmacy if we shouldn't get drugs from them.

It is both... but government is the main corporate.

Some traders raise prices after judging customer's appearance, while some sales boys/girls add something to pocket later... If you like wear rag to the store, if you look healthy, they will give you rich man price (because it takes a lot of money to eat until your body is fresh).

Today I bought coke 300 when it has been selling for 350 for over a month and some places have been selling it for 400... It did NOT come down in price, that particular store owner hasn't gotten the info that coke is 400 in town.

Indomie instant noodles and only due to boycott (people figured out it was cheaper to buy proper food).

Long ago I lamented that if I could boycott our traders, i would, but I can't do without some essentials.

The tip is patronize people that start new and don't have customers (or those hawking under the sun). Even the smallest stores are millionaires, they can afford to play price games (but the other guys, are hungry for customers).

On my way from church today, drove to get Freshly baked bread from Shopright as usual, but this time around, one sold for โ‚ฆ1499 compared to the last time I bought for โ‚ฆ1399 (within a month difference).

Dollar is going down on paper but price of commodities rising.

What kind of economics is this?

At least, every two days, I buy 3loafs of bread at different malls in Lagos depending on proximity when I'm going home at night, and I stated the price, it doesn't mean I don't believe someone else that got it for higher amount.
