I never said I was.
I only mailed you so we could communicate cos I felt you're enlightened and smart minded.
Our ideologies may differ but it shouldn't barricade us from communicating via mail
I actually needed your insight on something vital that's why I reached out

Certainly, share your questions here . Someone else may benefit from the answers, you never know.

Full disclosure: I ll be putting a feminist, liberal ,humanist slant on any answers I give you, though.

Beyonce is a feminist?

I am surprised cheesy

I guess President Tinubu is a Muslim.

Of course she is. Perhaps you've been living under a rock. She once performed in front of a screen with the word FEMINIST written in giant fonts. One of her singles, "Flawless” conveys a feminist message in its own right and samples the TED talk by Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie that calls for gender equality. During an interview, this is also what she had to say about the concept:

"I’m not really sure people know or understand what a feminist is, but it’s very simple. It’s someone who believes in equal rights for men and women. If you are a man who believes your daughter should have the same opportunities and rights as your son, you’re a feminist. We need men and women to understand the double standards that still exist in the world, and we need to have a real conversation so we can begin to make changes. Ask anyone, man or woman, “Do you want your daughter to have 75 cents when she deserves $1?” What do you think the answer would be? When we talk about equal rights, there are issues that face women disproportionately…. Working to make those inequalities go away is being a feminist, but more importantly, it makes me a humanist. I don’t like or embrace any label. I don’t want calling myself a feminist to make it feel like that’s my one priority, over racism or sexism or anything else. I’m just exhausted by labels and tired of being boxed in. If you believe in equal rights, the same way society allows a man to express his darkness, to express his pain, to express his sexuality, to express his opinion—I feel that women have the same rights".

She also has two little girls now, so it makes sense that she would be an advocate for girls and women's rights.

Need any more proof that she's a feminist, or is it clear now?

Did you read what YOU posted or you are so desperate to drag people into your feminist camp?

It is you feminists desperate to drag people into your camp that are living under a rock.

Beyonce's real life actions has constantly contradicted her songs.

I guess you believe Chris Brown is a lover boy or Davido would be faithful to Chioma because he sang 'Assurance' for her.

And feminists do not want equal opportunities; they want equal outcomes. And who has equal rights on this earth? Do I have the right to use my company's private jet? Does that mean I am discriminated against? If my CEO can't participate in a trivia to win N100k, does it mean she is 'inferior' to me? undecided

The place where girls really need equal opportunities (e.g. same common clearance cut off mark) like Northern Nigeria, you’ll are interestingly missing there.

No, I actually closed my eyes while writing all that, smdh. I guess I just developed a new skill, wow, wow, wow!!! I should be asking if YOU read what I wrote because you're all over the place without saying anything concrete.

Which real life actions of hers contradict her songs? She supports the FreedomForGirls campaign, donated $250,000 from her foundation last year, most of which went to women, as well as gave $10,000 grants to small businesses last year to businesses impacted by economic inequalities, most of which also went to women. I've given real-life examples in my previous post and and in this, but you're yet to give any as proof of what you're saying and just talking out of thin air.

I haven't been in the thread for some days now and you quoted me telling me I'm dragging people into my camp. Who quoted whom? And what has Chris Brown and Davido got to do with the discussion? Can Nigerians not argue without digressing unecessarily?

Idk why I'm even wasting my time replying someone in Nigeria living in one village with no light talking about what they've no idea about.

D

If you posted a direct quote of a woman who said she doesn't want to be called a feminist because she doesn't want labels then proceeds to call herself a humanist and yet you insist she is a feminist, I can't help you and I can understand why my post flies over your head.

Beyonce is not a feminist; the way she conducts herself & family has shown over time that she is not a Feminist. She will tell you women that girls run the world & men are irreplaceable yet need her younger sister to beat her man when he is cheating. Then whine in a song, go ahead to sleep with him, birth twins then top it off with an interview of how she wants to stop the scourge of broken families in her lineage. If this is not an act from the standard Nigerian women playbook, I don't know what else is.

1S.haron has said it and I would re-echo it; support for women & women advocacy does not equal feminism. People (men & women) have been doing women advocacy for ages without the politics of feminism; same with religious institutions.

Is advocating for women's right a bad thing...?

Even you were marveled at her passion and zeal.

Allow her... As long as her passion isn't a toxic one.

Most people have taken feminism to a toxic level but the original ideas of feminism is female education and equal opportunities in education, work and politics. She’s in Nigeria and nigerian feminism is toxic

I don't see that as a bad thing!

what do you guys even think a feminist is? that at the mention of it ,it seems like they've stolen your mandate. So a young girl who knows from an early age no to accept less than she deserves is worrying? and you say she just wrote jamb, so you want her to get to uni and fall into the trap of these small boys sweet talks instead of focusing on why she went to school and make something of her future which would attract the right crowd? I advice you to draw your sister closer and help her achieve her ambition since she still confides in you.You should be happy you have a focused young girl who wouldn't play with her future
joemag:
I recently went home to check on my parents. It happens that our lastborn who is in a boarding school also was around for a week break they were given at school.

On one of the evenings as I was talking to her and her dreams and aspirations this 16 old girl told me she wanted to become a Feminist. I was shocked but remained calm and gently asked her what she meant by being a Feminist.
She told me that by that she aims to become an advocate of women's right. She started narrating how men are domesticating women and whole lots.
I was marvelled at her passion and zeal and how convincing she was .
Deep down I knew that I have a problem to solve and I needs pragmatic steps in order not to cause more harms.

This girl has written her JAMB with nice scores and will soon be in the varsity.

Please, is there anyone with concrete approach on how I will go about this?

exactly these NL Redpillers has flooded them with misinformation about feminism and preach hate for women all day probably because of the hand life has dealt them but the damage is ignorant ones like this OP swallow everything without actually fact checking and seeing through their hatred for women

A good one

Tell her stories of African women that flourished with no man holding them back, even before western education. Queen Amina,Efunroye Tinubu,Efunsetan and many more achieved greatness
Life is not fair, but let her look up women that fought side by side with men to achieve our independence
Re: Help! Our Last Born Wants To Be A Feminist by Swaelyf(f): 3:58pm On May 14
Better ignore this person. Tell your sis you will support her to get to the life she wants for herself and her future family. Help her hv her own wallet to provide for her family if need be and not be a liability to anyone in life. thats the best you can do for her bcs you dont know wht life would be in 10yrs, you may not even be there to protect her
Princewill1:
Western Education is the breeding ground of Feminism. Some percentage of women dont need to be educated.

Tell her to desist from Woke Mentality if she want to succeed in life as an african. That there is something called 'gender role' in the family.

The masculine male role in the family is to provide and protect while the feminine female role is in homemaking, caregiving and in nurturing. And that a girl embracing her natural Godgiven role of homemaking is not domestication or slavery.

Tell her that world reknown African Woman like Ngozi Okonjo Iwuala is excelling in life, she is not a feminist and she is happily married with kids.

Ask her the reasons why NOI with all her exposures, experience and accomplishments is not interested in feminism and the socalled liberation of women... because there is nothing there to liberate.

She should flee from wokeness else she will turn to a bitter and frustrated single broke mother in years to come.

Oga go and dit down. Has feminism destroyed Chimamanda Adichie and other self acclaimed feminists? Was it Feminism that killed that famous red piller that died like a dog on top of a prostitute after all his hypocritical red pill teachings? Worry more about how your bitter red pill is turning more and more men into toxic lunatics. At least the feminists are not running around the Internet like mad dogs rummaging for stories (whether real or fake) to bring men down. Are the feminists digging out old stories to run men down? The most bitter Feminist is better than the "sweetest" alfa male.
Interesting submissions here.

I'm curious here though.

2. That's another kettle of fish. I am a 'what people do more than they say' person. Irrespective of what Nigerian men say and Nigerian women claim, both parties are extremely promiscuous and 'sexually liberal'. Sadly, the married folks are not left out. And contrary to their chants here; Nigerian men are marrying 'promiscuous' Nigerian women; coded and explicit.

Oh yes! All of us go marry ashawo. The belief that Nigerian men would suddenly marry virgins after they have accustomed their women to different sexual styles is misplaced. Even so-called Facebook preaching "Christian" brothers and sisters have sex, how much more those who don't pontificate? I have written here how my female classmates frolicked with various men and are married today with children.

My issues with Nigerians are the lies and hypocrises.

Whenever you’re asked to respond intelligently on what your measure of a woman’s happiness is, y’all dumbly without fail revert to the most asinine response ever which is “oh but they don’t have a man”.

As if that’s the only thing needed in a woman’s life in order for her to be happy. I know you desperately want to believe that.

Let the men avoid them like plagues if they want, that’s not a measure of misery, happiness or success for a woman. You guys are deathly afraid of ending up alone and you often project that onto women

Though not common, this is something I once encountered while searching for accommodation in Nairobi some years ago. grin
The landlord agreed to accommodate me because, using his words, "Unatoka barabara ya upande huu...". This loosely translates to, "The road to your home village is this direction..." This he said while pointing to a certain direction and I knew for sure he had no plans to accommodate the tribe(s) from the other direction(s). grin

So what if someone now lies about his tribe to get accommodation? grin

Mehnnn. It is prevalent in Nigeria. You'd see posts like "No Igbo tenant" or "Yoruba preferred tribe".

Like I said, it's not the common thing. Still, it wouldn't be practical to lie anyway because somewhere down the line a copy of your national ID card would be required to sign a rental lease agreement.

Our ID cards usually indicate our full names (even if you have 4), date of birth, place of birth, place issued, and county/sub-county of origin (this is basically where your village people reside and it's the part stupïd bigots rush to see first). Unless you walk around with a fake ID here it will be difficult to lie about your tribe.

"No Igbo tenant", "Yoruba preferred". Chai! Your own is too undiluted. grin
