Who remembers Mr momodu and Mr popoola?
The two strange friends.popoola being very tall and slim while momodu was very short and fat

A very funny pair.the illustrator had a strong sense of humor.cos I still have the picture in my head.

It was funny that while in primary school we could cram all the stories in the Macmillan reader 1 - 6, without knowing how to read. We would joyfully jump out whenever our "aunty" (we had more of aunties than sirs) asked us to read, but could not point out any word when asked.

oxford book 5 and 6....mr bako and his family's travel round Nigeria.....that was my best taught me a lot about Nigeria right from my desk....learnt the word terminus there......

As for literature...chike and the river (smog tins), ifeanyi and obi, an african nights tale (abu), the slave boy(shettima so loved this book), without a silver spoon (should hold the record for my most read).........

I practically read everthing that had a story in it even books my aunt and uncle used (one with jemima loses her temper).......

Tea without sugar (think his name was ali)......my earliest encounter with a yahoo guy
