Let Moyes earn one first before you people start campaigning for him.

n his latest blog, Juan Mata looks back on Sunday's Manchester derby clash at the Etihad Stadium...

Today I’m writing to you from home after a defeat that is not easy to take.

A derby is always special and the one in Manchester is really intense, you can feel it in the streets during the week. That’s why it’s hard to accept that we have lost and, despite not being able to help my team-mates on the pitch, I can tell you that the whole team is very upset.

Playing away against City is always challenging because they have big offensive potential, as it was shown, but having one player sent off in the first half just makes things more complicated. This is the fifth time this season that one of us has got a red card, so unfortunately we already know what it means to have one player less. But even though Sergio Aguero scored and we were down to 10 men, our team showed pride and almost tied the game, although this time it was not possible.

To be honest, right now, rather than looking at the table we have to focus on our path in order to improve and to win games.

Obviously this situation is not what we wanted, but in this moment the team must stick together and keep on going. I’m sure we will do it.

We were all kinda impressed how we played when we went a goal down even with the man down.

Why we don't play like that when we are complete still baffles me. We seem contented passing safe balls btw the defenders. We shud be doing more incisive passes.

Watch Real, Barca and Bayern, they don't pass the ball unnecessarily amongst themselves. 2-3 passes most times and someone is attempting to score.

I want the media to point out the same mistakes moyes was criticized for - some of which LVG seems to be making..
That's one of the benefits of having a good pedigree

-this isn't LVG's first big appointment. It was moyes' first
-this isn't the first time LVG is trying to rebuild a squad. He has tried it before, he has had bad starts and he has overcome them.

So u can forgive anyone who has chosen to give LVG the benefit of the doubt.

The journalists too have reputations
They know the likelihood of LVG coming out successful is high
They too are seeing the positive signs

They don't want it to be a feast of eaten words at the end of the day.
Can't say the same for moyes.

Should LVG continue to struggle for a period longer than necessary, and it begins to seem as if he won't make it, then he will feel the wrath of the media.

I'm sure the Chelsea side that finished third last season had an average age that was higher than United's.

The average age might look youthful but legs might be tired already (old at heart). E.g Distin vs Ferdinand. You may have to reason why Gaal overhauled the team.

And Man United age was not balanced at all. Some players were too old while others were too young. Those coming to replace the aged ones were just too young and inexperienced. Cahil, Azpilicueta and Ivanovic were a good replacement for players like Alex, Bosigwa, Cole. While in United Buttner, Smalling, Jones had to replace Ferdi, Vidic and Evra.

• januzaj and di Maria in a central midfield pivot ( at different times sha) grin

• Jesse lingard ( an out and out striker) was converted to a RWB

...Yet we keep on blaming injuries undecided

We are talking of age here since the allegation was that we had an aging squad.

The United squad that won the league comfortably and was knocked out by Real in 2012/13 was old according to you.
The same side Moyes inherited and took to the depths of 7th.
I don't see any correlation between the two scenarios.

I don't buy that age thing. Not for one second.

I think our players should go and watch what they did in the last 20 minutes and try to play like that every day. The way McNair took the ball at his feet forward to midfielders was great. Then the midfield to the final third play was also great. Carrick made the ball retention at the back looked so comfortable, then Valencia and McNair took it forward with ease.

I see great hope. We are going to be like Madrid or Bayern soon.

Seriously? U expecting them to buy cheap players with their biggest club in the world mentality. I don't think they can and possibly won't, they think that big money defenders will solve their problems. I just hope it turns out well for them, because it would be a real shame if after buying big names like Hummels, Strootman, Alves and maybe Khedira they are still in deep shi.t.

are u kidding me?
what's bizzare about 352
He excelled at the world cup with it
Juve destroys everyone in the seria a with it
The loss to mk dons was as a result of the selected players and nothing to do with the formation.

So what other option was left for him as regards the rooney issue giving the situation on ground
Push him forward to be RVP's partner when we were a man down?

And the 'suicidal Highline' was the reason we lost? Right?

Charisma and Pedigree? What Charisma does Van Gaal have? He sits down scribbling notes all game. Then he comes out and says "Judge me after 3 months". Then he comes out and says "It was very stu pid to say three months because then the media are only talking about three months.". And how has his pedigree improved your team's fortunes?
so until a manager begins to stand up and be overly dramatic like Jose before u can conclude that he has charisma?
Watch his Body language throughout games and compare it with that of moyes and tell me u can see a huge difference
Don't even get me started on their press conferences.

Van Gaal famously never gets on with his players and staff anyway, so I'm surprised you're talking about man-management. Man Management? Hahahaha. Everywhere he has gone he has left on bad terms with coaching staff, players, board and even the fans. Someone who was once described as a football hitler by one of his own players, is the one you're given props for man management.
and you will still find a lot of his ex players 'worshipping' him and the influence he had in their careers
Every team huh?
I bet the dutch national team, and fans hate him too because he also left them in acrimonious circumstamce.
Jose that has been praised to be a good man manager fell out with every one at madrid.

Summary of everything, he's keeping the squad happy and all the players are happy to play for him and they believe in him.
That's good enough man management for me.

All Van Gaal really has going for him is his reputation, and many Manyoo fans like yourself are simply unwillingly to believe that someone with his reputation might not actually be up to the task.

Van Gaal's reputation has bought him a free ride. Any other manager would be in trouble by now.
when Rival fans fail to see the improvements in the team, I usually don't bother myself about it.
I don't expect u to
Only avid followers would.
Before the end of the season we would know if he is not upto the task at hand as u claim or not.

common!
You know the scenarios are faar from the same.

What prompted the rooney worship claims?
Was it not after he kept sticking him the hole despite consistent shyte performances, and refusal to substitute him during games, no matter how useless he was? When there was a certain shinji (who hadn't been given a fair chance to prove himself) on the bench.

How exactly is LVG arrsse-licking rooney? undecided

Has rooney been shyte this season? Be honest with yourself.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw people criticizing him after the manchester derby when he was clearly one of our better performers on the day.

Or would u rather he replaced rooney with matat(who is looking more and more like a fraud as the season progresses) ?

So if it wasn't old, how come almost the whole team was flushed out? How many players from that 2012/13 team are still making our fist 11 today?

If you ask me, SAF was able to win the league with them because he brought them up. He knew how to combine them to get something out of a match. That was the reason Phil Jones and Welbeck had so many matches in midfield at the expense of more creative players. SAF would use Welbeck to help Evra on the wing. He would use Jones to check physical opponents. He utilized Rooney's versatility to help the soft midfield. Then he would play Ferdinand deep in the defence to make his work less. Evra overlaps, Welbeck does the back chasing catch up for him. What am I trying to say? It takes someone who has been at the club for a long time to be able to do a job with the players we had. But the players were actually poor already. Most of them just average.

If Gaal had come earlier, he would have faced the same mess, but we would have been back at the top now.

Did some disease inflict the two the season after that made it difficult for them to move their joints just months later?

Plus Johnny Evans. He is not the player he used to be.

That SAF team was already being patched. The signs of cracks (big cracks) were glaring. Teams were coming to Old Trafford to threaten us, then we would manage a slim win after a hard battle. That started from 2012/13 and it was rare in the past. In those days, teams would only come to Old Trafford to park the bus and see if they could reduce the score line to 1-0 or 2-0.

LVG has said that Rooney will always enjoy certain privileges as the captain ( privileges RVP didn't enjoy as captain of the dutch side). What was the smoking gun to that effect? Rooney who is a shyty CF (LVG's words) was shifted back into the same hole in which we all agree will never be his best position. When he fûcks up there again, he prolly will be drafted to LB or CB...afterall his captain must always play, which means that there must always be a starting role for Rooney, irrespective of his unsuitability to whatever role it is..

As regards the captaincy issue, I'd rather he made Rvp captain... Atleast he was "substitutable" at the worldcup. Forget that preseason hogwash - if both Rooney and RvP had to go on extended breaks, what would have happened?

1. Chicharito had only 945 minutes of football out of a possible 3,420 which is only 10 matches.

2. Nani had total football of just 629 minutes.

3. Carrick was not tested. Moreso he was eetained as a back up defender/midfielder.

4. Kagawa had 1341 minutes. About 15 games.

As I said, these players, together with the likes of Buttner and Powell were not the main players of 2012/2013.

5. You have just expressed your patience with Gaal by asking me 'how long he has been at Man United'. Do you know you were one of the first to attack Moyes on this thread last season? And that came as early as September of October.

6. On Mourinho: I am just telling you that having a winning mentality alone doesn't help a team to win. You need to upgrade team by replacing the tired legs.
