I agree with you 100%, when i listen to Dr Okupes tape, he was so confident saying they will never handover to Buhari....These people have been trying to send a message across all this while and people think they are just ranting.....am really afraid of what will come out of this election. Okupe has also been telling us Buhari is only popular on social media....thats another message. The elitist dont want a Buhari....Corruption has eaten deep down our bone marrow that they dont want things to change...can Nigerians stand up for their rights if there is fraud in these coming election? I dont think so.They know these and will continue to trample on us.

This your thread was created because you have been trying to appeal to some girls on this forum who are on GEJ and PDP side. I never took you serious since I came back from my sabbatical leave from nairaland. I just haven't been able to wrap my head around the fact that you now call yourself "a progressive". I have had many verbal war with you in the past when you were a staunch supporter of Jonathan. You only created this thread to appeal to certain ladies who are on GEJ's side. It was a calculated move by you.

Now let me dissect your thread:

Conventional wisdom should tell you there must be truth to the ING rumor going around like wild fire. If there was no truth to it, why did Abati bring it up yesterday that Obasanjo was planning to head interim national government? Who is planning what and why the talk of it at all by Abati? Abati made it look like there is truth to it in which Obasanjo is jealous that he is not being considered for ING post. Don't forget about three weeks ago when Sahara Reporter brought up the rumor about shifting election date. Many people on this forum dismissed it as gossip. As it turned out they were right again like many times before. Sahara Reporters have a mole in the villa who is giving out information.

You claimed Jonathan has promised John Kerry that May 29 was sacrosanct but have you forgotten Jonathan told us many times election would hold on February 14? Why should you believe Jonathan now when indeed at the media chat of few days ago Jonathan told the whole world he did not know about plan to shift the election date. Did you really believe that when he said that? Did you really believe no one consulted Jonathan about the election shift.

Why would Sahara Reporters drop the name of Abdulasallami Abubakar without any iota of truth to it? Do you really think Sahara Reporter dropped Abdulsallami name out of thin air without an insider telling them about the impending plan? Have you honestly ask yourself that question?

I can't believe you are a political novice to think Jonathan is not looking for way out of this mess. Currently, Jonathan knows that he is about to lose an election in a landslide. You should know better that Jonathan is only looking for ways to scuttle election and avoid Buhari getting to the throne. Conventional wisdom should tell you the script being played by Jonathan and Co is not about winning election anymore. The script is now about how to prevent election or how to stop Buhari from getting there. For Jonathan and Co, ING is an option and a staged coup is also an option. Jonathan has already thrown out the possibility of contesting against Buhari and lose. It would be suicidal for Jonathan and his group to let the election go ahead as planned. Let me advice you to watch the campaign Jonathan and his wife had in Bayelsa last week. Did you listen to everything PEJ say? Have you listened to where PEJ said "there is no way they are handing over to old man called Buhari". Go on youtube and watch the campaign again. While at that, watch the video where Okupe was screaming and vowing that this government will never handover to Buhari. They know they are about to lose to Buhari and not ready to handover to him. They are not saying Buhari is not going to win this election. They are saying they are not handing over to Buhari. PEJ and Okupe have been saying the same thing and you should think about that instead of pretending to be an independent thinker. A month ago Okupe aide declared on social media they won't be handing over to Buhari and they rather let the military to take over. There is absolute truth to these rumors.

Let me break it to you. I heard there were four international polling firms that conducted polls for Jonathan in which the four polls had Buhari leading between 20-36%. There was a meeting where the poll results were discussed by Jonathan, Diezani and Mimiko. My source told me Diezani told Jonathan how worried she was about how the campaign has turned out. She expressed her frustration and became worried. At the meeting, Mimiko told her not to worry that actions were in place to turn things around. It was at that meeting Mimiko brought up the idea to replace Jega and replace him with their man in which the president rejected initially but later willing to go with the idea. This happened less than two weeks ago.

@OP, I expected better from you.

Just to clarify, the lying mouthpiece of APC aka Sahara reporters weren't the first to predict/ "canvass" for election postponement. As far back as september 2014, it was already being toyed with. The noisemakers kept giving it wings until it flew in february. That's what happens when attention seekers are allowed to run wild.

www.nairaland.com/1915285/2015-senate-president-cautions-apc
I'll find more especially the dailytrust version. That one got more attention.

@this topic, is but a mere propaganda just like the sniper and gunmen cock and bull story and not fit to be given attention.

Let's all be careful with the wave of propaganda we spread and try to vet each information as it comes using our ability to think critically. For the first time i think Barcanista has proven that he has some decorum and decency in him to filter truth from propaganda. Typically, his fellow progressives have turned on him without considering the message.

Obasanjo is a pained man. He has lost everything and there's nothing left for him to hold on to if not to find a backdoor into the power house again. It's not unusual for old men to crave and cling on to power, especially African leaders, (Biya, Ghadaffi, Mugabe, et al). Obasanjo desperately needs power and that is his game plan.

I can understand Jonathan has completely frustrated him by making him entirely irrelevant in PDP and weeded all his allies away and that is seriously affecting Obasanjo.

A normal old Ex-leader should be a statesman and act as an advisory agent to the present leaders but Obasanjo can not do that because in the first place he has no Family to turn to. He is estranged with his children already after sleeping with his son's wife and the public disgrace meted out to him by his daughter.

To add insult to injury, the "clueless" one has taught him a very important lesson at his old age. Jonathan has checkmated him using Kashamu Buruji to limit his influence on South-West PDP, (talk of dog fighting dog). And his old nemesis, Tony Anenih is Jonathan's henchman. Jonathan has taken ALL from him and completely dismantled his structures.

When Jonathan wins the election (it would hold and he will win!!!) he would have successfully pulled out the greatest coup and the real change in Nigeria's political history. The "clueless" one has stepped on lot of toes, looked at them eyeball to eyeball and demolished them. Little wonder why the whole world is against him.

On March 28 a new dawn will emerge in Nigeria's history. The final departure from the scene of the old men that has refused to let Nigeria be, with Obasanjo and Buhari leading the failed packs.

APC can keep shouting change all they want and they can keep accusing PDP for 16 wasted years but the facts are barefaced, 80% or more of the erstwhile PDP members that destroyed Nigeria for years are now in the APC. The real change is Jonathan, the "clueless" one.

God bless you Sir.

Don't know what barcanista's real motive for this thread is.

I don't see the basis, esp after OBJ's press briefing now supported by Sahara reporters breaking news about nocturnal meetings and plans by Jonathan and PDP.

My question to him is, does he believe Obasanjo and Sahara Reporters will make heavy accusations/revelations without any cause or reason?

That will be too foolish of him (barcanista), to believe that this people will not do anything, i repeat ANYTHING possible to deny Buhari assume Leadership.

I hope he is not a 'turn coat' unravelling before our open eyes, would be quite unfortunate and pityful if so.

So what is the difference between Barcanista and FKK?

After seeing Doyin Okupe yell in front of journalists that " it is not going to happen they hand over power to Buhari'' , a strong message was been passed that day.

Look how the credibility of Jega became a subject of discussion in the past few days.

He conveniently titled his topic "one propaganda too many". Indirectly discrediting APC.

I can boldly say he will eventually(very soon) tell us why he was wrong all this while and we should all support GEJ.

And quit speaking from both sides of the mouth like that FFK or Doyin Okupe. It will only add foolishness to your trait.

I think the admission of sincerenigerian should be taken seriously and not thrown aside. There are indications that this administration do not want to handover if they lose. Rather than arguing that it is not possible or it is unconstitutional, the plan should be - what do we do if it occurs, do we allow the military to come back again (God forbid) or do we pressurize the president to know that the voice of the people is the voice of God.

On the other hand, I thought sincernigerian was a staunch supporter of GEJ

Barcanista is attempting to whitewash his Dirty APC laden image. Guy, we do not need your opinion to buffer our conviction that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. Even Jega got surprised that we found ouit his alliance with APC. Come next month, Buhari will quietly move back to Daura and his sponsors will leak their wounds.

My issue with the first point you raised is that Jonathan has not put himself in a position that will enable me take his word serious, he is a serial liar. Was he not the same that denied the first rumour of the Feb.14 election postponement, was he not the same that assured the whole nation that the election will hold in 14feb, was he not the one that lied in his media chart that he did not know about the election postponement, so how would anyone believe that Jonathan will keep to a word of assurance he gave to anybody even if it is Obama he gave it to?

My stomach turns and i feel disgusted whenever i read comments such as "the lying mouthpiece of APC aka Sahara reporters". Is this wilful ignorance? Sahara reporters has stood for 1 thing and 1 thing only "SaharaReporters.com is an outstanding, groundbreaking news website that encourages citizen journalists to report ongoing corruption and government malfeasance in Africa." as written on their front page. Yar adua and the cabal had their turn, then saharareporters was GEJ mouthpiece. Today GEJ has his turn, it is APC mouthpiece. And I am very sure if Buhari is elected and messes up, it will be whoever the opposition mouthpiece. Sahara is the "mouthpiece of anything anti corrupt government"

Is it not obvious by just reading their mission statement on their front page what they stand for?

Is it not obvious it does not matter who the person is?

As long as you are in government and corrupt, they will go after you.

They went after OBJ, They went after Yaradua, The are now after GEJ. And they will go after buhari.

So to say "the lying mouthpiece of APC aka Sahara reporters" is simply wilful ignorance. Or what will you have called SR when they were busy against Yaraduas cabal to ensure GEJ gets power. "lying mouthpiece of GEJ"?? I am really confused

Pure speculation. You talked about conventional wisdom; which means its pure assumption. You assume its true simply because Abdulsalam was mentioned. Its just a means of forcing out words from the retired General who has been too silent since the advent of 2015 campaign. Like the OP rightly said, there is no provision for an ING in the Nigeria constitution

If your GEJ hasn't choose to postpone the election, no one would have come up with this, as far as I'm concern, GEJ give way to all this.
6weeks it is, we are watching and patiently waiting for BH to be flushed out.

God's willing, Buhari will win that election and GEJ will hand over to him, otherwise he's really calling for the "Gbagbo treatment"
Postponing the election is the most corrupt idea I hv ever seen in nigeria. angry

Barcanista is talking as if weirder things have not happened in Nigeria.

To get the solution to the Nigerian equation, get a common sense logic and stand it upside down. Bingo!

IBB's self-succession bid was a conspiracy until it started manifesting.
OBJ's third term agenda was a conspiracy until it took form.
Yar'Adua's health issues was a conspiracy until he dropped dead.

And you think this GEJ's conspiracy theory is a mirage?
Your problem is that you are listening to what GEJ's handlers are saying, but not paying attention to their body languages.

Every educated mind, from US, UK, UN to Nigeria knows that something is cooking. And those are the people privy to "intels"
that you cannot access. When John Kerry, Ban Ki Moon, etc. talk, do you think they are getting their information from the
street and beer parlours? GEJ just like Turai Yar'Adua did, has backed himself into an uncomfortable position by listening to the
advise of profiteers that profess fake love around him.

[quote author=barcanista post=30767305]It is no news that some media and personalities have been reporting of a "planned" installation of an Interim National Government by President Goodluck Jonathan. Sahara Reporters, Obasanjo and other "sources" are few people to be propagating this "revelation".

We were told that the Jonathan's administration has no plan to conduct the election and it planned to create a chaos for the Army led by General Kenneth Minimah to takeover the reins of power because they will rather not witness a Buhari government.

Later we were told that the President plans to perpetually remain in power by getting the NASS postpone the election for six months with the pretence of the crises in the North - East. The plan is to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution according to this theory.

Just of recent we were told by Sahara Reporters that their "Source" told them that Jonathan approached exHead of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar and "begged" him to head the supposed ING. The plan according to this source is to prevent Muhammadu Buhari from gaining victory at the poll. According to SR, the Jonathan government is to bribe NASS members with $2m and $1m each for Senate and Reps members respectively.
The plan here is for them to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution and declare the ING.

Aside from the fact that all theories appear disjointed and does not portray in anyway as to how Jonathan will benefit from the schemes, it also begs for the question of what is the possibility?

Firstly, Jonathan had told the US Secretary of State Mr John Kerry that the election will be held and a New Government inaugurated come May 29. President Jonathan repeated the statement in his media chat. So far, there has been no clue as to whether he plans to remain indefinitely. He also debunked the story of handing over to the Military or any illegal government

Secondly, the talk of Interim National Government is alien to our constitution. There is no way that can happen when we have no constitutional crises. There is no way Abdulsalam or Minimah can assume power except there is a coup. If there is any, then there will be a counter coup. Assuming Jonathan even considers bribing the NASS to get the six(6) months extension, he doesn't need an Abdulsalam or an ING to lead during the extension period. Section 135(3) of the Constitution is very clear that the incumbent preside over the country for the period of any extension. Considering that the opposition controls the House, the ruling party have the Senate, except there is a compromise, that will not scale through.

Thirdly, if the President is to exploit the Military. it will be to give PDP undue advantage at the poll by harassing the opposition on the day of election, and not to handover power to any Gen Minimah or a phantom ING that isn't feasible anywhere.

This talk of an ING is baseless, a distraction, a tool to heat up the already saturated polity. It is one propaganda too many. It is a threat to peace and our collective unity. I have absolute confidence that the election will be held and winner will be inaugurated come May 29.[/quote
