Hi guys, please any houston cheap tickets promo for early june? I still haven't bought my ticket as I am still hoping for awoff grin
Again who's got an idea of dollar rate and black market too? And is it advisable to go with the total cash looking at the card hacking issues?
Finally, for those using oakbend and dr Fab please what other documents does he send for POE aside the normal one with the fees details and what POE is recommended for houston bound mum considering that I got my B1/B2 visa last year as a student and I was not pregnant and didn't use it for the purpose I got it for (School trip). Although I have emailed both London and Abuja embassy and I got same generic reply

Hi all the mamas in NL,

I have being following this thread, and it have been very interesting and revealing. Without NL and this thread, I would not have known of the possibilities of giving birth in the USA. My wife and I already have a B1/B2 visa issued last August 2014 which we used it to travel for a vacation in March 2015. She is now pregnant, and I am seriously considering taking her to the USA to deliver, around December 2015 or January 2016. I have two cities in mind: Dallas, TX or Phoenix, AZ as I have family friends there that can help out as I wont be with her until a 2 weeks before delivery. Fortunately, I already have a US bank account which I opened last year November in Dallas during my first visit. The amount in that account is above $3K, which I can easily do a Bank wire to bring it up to $10K. I would be happy to have the necessary information on ideal hospitals, doctors, accommodation cost in these locations. I also read on NL that I need to inform the US embassy in Nigeria of my intention to use the visa for birth in the US. In doing this, do I need to provide information on hospital, doctors correspondence etc. I would be happy to hear from all experienced mamas. Note this is our first after waiting for 6 years, and I am prepared to give my wife the best possible healthcare within my budget. grin grin Thank you.

First of all congrats. I think your wife should use MHIS, their advert is on this thread since you have family in Phoenix Arizona. I hear the weather is always warm, lots of najia mums there, lots of shops and flight tickets too are cheap. cost for normal delivery cost about 6.5k give or take (5.4k for delivery, others for tests, paedictricial visits, etc).

Alternatively she can also go to Dallas, there are a few cheap hospitals here. For both choices, she will not spend up to 10k for hospital fees and with family accommodation, she will spend less on transport, feeding, housing and be more relaxed.

So the choice is yours. My hubby felt the same way like you when our baby came after 11years of waiting, so I can understand where you are coming from. And we do love to see husbands coming here to support their wives in this journey. GOD bless you.

You should try and break up the journey especially because you'll be coming back with a baby. Spend a day or 2 in istanbul not just airport layover. But if you feel you can manage, then give it a go

Thx for the concern, really appreciate it but Tix has already been paid for, and since I'm using a bassinet, that seating area will be less restrictive &baby's siblings go dey look road.

I don't have any other choice but to manage. Will rest when I get home.

Hello people of NL ,

please do we have anyone who has traveled to US through New York Kennedy and to connect through New york Newark for the next flight?
I will like to know how far is the two airport and how can one connect is it a walk over or by train or taxi.

I have but I just usually take a cab which is about $100 but there's a shuttle for $25 if you don't have plenty luggage or if you have the strength . It drops you off at EWR.
Good luck

Even though La Guardia is in NY the traffic to get to it na die. Newark is easily accessible. NYC Airporter will take you to and from these airports.

Well I used mine without writing the embassy.
Got the visa in 2012 for vacation, travelled and went back last year to have my baby. No one asked any questions about it. I just renewed via drop box in January.
Honestly I didn't know anything about change of intent until I joined Nairaland. To be on the safe side I think you should just write them.
ok thank u very much for ur responce

augustmom2be I think you should cross your t's and dot your i's because it is best to be on the safest side with these p.o.e officers, the officer mrs A meets is different from the one Mrs B will meet and even different from the one mrs C will meet, it is better to be safe than sorry because all these months of planning shouldn't go down the drain due to one flimsy error, Shebi it is ordinary email, please send it and gather all other necessary documents abeg.

You make us proud! Looking out for the best for your family. Congratulations on your growing family, and like someone else mentioned both cities you've chosen have pocket-friendly hospitals and doctors, and with family nearby, I really think God had this all planned for you and for a time like this. Wishing you all the best.

I saw that no one has addressed the concerns you mentioned above.
No,you dont need to provide information about hospital and all that in your email to the embassy, all you need to tell them is that your plans has changed and you intend to use the visa for birthing purpose and that you have made all 5he necessary arangments and that you have the necessary funds to pay your bills

Good afternoon everyone. Please I intend using MIHS in phoenix for birthing because I am expecting twins and the quotes I have seen and gotten from other hospitals so far have been scary. My confusion now is concerning accommodation, I need an accommodation that can take my mum,my toddler and myself and then the twins when they arrive. Also, my husband will be joining us early august( I am due to arrive phoenix next month). I am considering legacy suites, palm shadows or crossland. Please can anyone advice me which will be better?i am really confuse, spent 2days worrying over this issue.

Also, please at the Poe will I be allowed to carry yam, beans, crayfish, oil,etc ?what foods are forbidden please. Thank you so much, please eagerly awaiting answers please

Make sure the beans has no insects, no palm oil (you can even pass initial inspection from MA with palm oil), avoid anything containing chicken; knot chicken , noodles etc.

Good day here. My wife and I intend to have our baby in the US. Delivery should be by December. Please what type of visa do we apply for and when should we apply for it? I hear it is better to get the visa before the pregnancy becomes evident. Pls how true is it? We have never been to the US before. We would also like to get information on good doctors and hospitals and cost in New Jersey. Many thanks for your help on these.

You can start your application anytime. Giving birth in the US is not illegal so feel free to flaunt your pregnancy at the interview. Apply for a B1/B2 medical/tourism Visa and declare your intention before traveling. Most importantly you need to read this thread from d beginning and start reading the old thread from page 100 . All your questions have been answered. Best of Luck.

To the glory of God had my baby boy on the 29th of April, delivery resulted in an emergency C section during induction process, the response time was second to non. Left Nigeria @32weeks with an uncomplicated pregnancy, got to us to find out I had some issues, but I thank God. I can't imagine if I had chosen to have my baby in naija, had a friend that lost her baby due to the neligence of the doctor in Nigeria 3wks ago, another lost her life during childbirth in lagos 3wks ago too but baby survived.
Besides the blue passport and the the future benefit for the child, one is sure of getting the best in terms of medical care.
Aspa budget please have a contingency plan, I ended up paying more,( I put 3k aside just in case I had to pay more)

I wish all the the expectant mums safe delivery.
