I don't think that advice is out of jealousy but for their own good. When you go around telling people that you're a virgin, some very wicked guys who just wanna know what its like to deflower a girl will do all it takes to take it away. They don't have your interests at heart, hence a girl shouldnt divulge her virginity status to a guy until she's sure that he's for real.
