Nawao,So its Even difficult when going out from Chicago? what if u were charged a heavy bill & u discuss a deal with the hospital or Your doctor that u will pay your remaining balance from naija, and this happened? The big Lesson is that it is better to finish all the payment in the US if u can, so that one doesnt fall victim to this kind of wahala on your departure day .

please o, for this birthing journey. i booked appointment for B2 visa- tourism/medical ( hadnt submitted ds160 form then). someone later told me it should be B1/B2. i changed it to B1/B2 on ds160 before submitting. i called the embassy and explained. they said i should scan my documents to them to update the appointment confirmation & resend me a new one. when i did so, i got a response that i shld cancel & rebook appointment. this contradicts what the person on phone told me.
my question is; is this disparity a deal breaker on appointment day or not. has anyone had this kinda issue

In my opinion, i dnt think its a major issue since they will still ask what you are going to USA for at the interview. Juz chill, wait till that day, if it comes up during ur interview, then you can explain to them.

how do you drop a zero balance with immigration people? i have never seen immigration guys on my way out before since i have been going to the US. all i see are TSA guys. They are the ones that scan your passport out and scan your hand luggage. Maybe you guys should try to shed some light on this

I personally don't have any light to shed beyond two custom officials were waiting at the entrance of the plane...I've never experienced such in my past travels but I've never had a blue pali baby before now so what do I know?

ehn na.. that's why i am shocked. i was even asking maybe it's the TSA guys you should drop it with or you have to go look for the CBP office at the departure part of the airport..

A friend got a very high bill from an american hospital and she settled part of it and worked out a monthly payment plan with the hospital Which she plans to religiously comply with.She wants to know if this would affect her visa renewal chance?

Hello NL Fam!

I am reporting live from Sugarland Tx to the glory of the most High. I arrived on Tuesday!
You are only hearing from me now because I had to take time out to recover from the long Isrealite journey (Abu-Paris-Detroit-Houston) and to overcome the effects of jetlag!
In the spirit of giving back, I wish to relate my POE experience at Detroit Michigan;

So the plane arrived after a two hour delay at Paris (which by the way is such a beautiful place I didn't mind cos I had time to browse through the many shops!!!!) Three other planes arrived the same time so the crowd was unbelievable. I began to reconsider why I hadn't opted for a wheelchair like I learned on this forum. My DH was of the opinion that a wheelchair may give the impression that I was infirmed and therefore unfit to fly.

At this juncture permit me to digress a little....before my departure from naija, I obtained a fit to fly certificate from Garki Hospital ( it cost me a pretty penny too ) only to reach the Air France check in stand at Abuja airport and learn they do not accept fit to fly from anywhere except the Port Health service dept. I was directed to the place and examined by a nurse who miscalculated my EDD. I corrected her error, even showed her my fit to fly from the Hospital, the content of which she dubbed to fill out her own fit to fly certificate. I was charged N1000 official rate and N2000 as her own kpaje (imagine the errant rubbish ) I used my strong head to pay the official rate before hightailing it out of there as fast as my big tummy would allow. Not sure if this applies to all airlines but all Air france Mamas in the house be advised.

So there I was standing in a long queue at Detroit's POE. Thank God for the wisdom of wearing compression sock (another invaluable thing I learned on the forum ) Eventually I was face to face with the officer.

Officer: ( while scaning my passport) why have you come to the states.
ME: For medical reasons and also to have my baby.
Officer: Have you ever been to the United States before?
ME: No. This is my first time.
Officer: Do you have relatives here?
ME: Yes, my uncle and his family live here.
Officer: (typing on computer) Why did you decide to come to US to have your baby?
ME: My cousin works at a hospital here and she recommended that I consult a doctor there. He's the same one who delivered her baby.
Officer: Are you interested in getting a green card?
ME: For myself?
Officer: (staring directly into my eyes and nodding)
ME: No I'm not.

The officer finger prints ME then leads me over to secondary inspection where I'm asked to have a seat. During my hour long wait I witnessed an Indian couple grilled by an unflinching officer and denied entry into the United States. I said a prayer to God and tried to remain calm. Eventually I was called up and asked how I intended to pay for my medical bills. I told the officer I had already made some payments. I showed him my receipts and correspondence with hospital and Dr Appointment. He asked how much I had with me, I told him $3000. He asked me to have a seat while he vanished into the office for about 7 mins. When he emerged, he handed me my passport and documents, said I was okay to go and escorted me back into the airport. He wanted to know if I needed someone to help carry my luggage. I had no idea my luggage had been brought in. No questions asked if I had food items ( which of course I did) He links me up with an airport luggage handler and wishes me a safe trip. Minutes later I board my connecting flight to Houston.

That's my POE experience folks, I give God all the glory & wish the same smooth hassle free entry for all those coming to the States to have their babies.

I bought mine online at Kaymu. They cost me 1500, cost of delivery brought it up to about 2k

Sorry oo I am going to chastise you. You see why we ve been begging you read previous posts as a family? I pray you don't make another silly mistake that might cost u ur visa. My 2 cent is don't change the class of visa at this point cos u might not get a closer date, stick to B1/B2 cos it still covers your purpose.

You are not as shocked as i who experience the living nightmare of my stuff scattered on the floor at the entrance of an international flight...

Two things still keep bogging my mind...

1... I was probably flagged on my way in & immediately airline checked me in, a signal was sent (we all know, US intel knows all goings & comings) & they sprung into action.... TSA sef was only interested in me cos i had ready to feed enfamil (liquid) in my bag & asked to see what it is...

2. The custom guys were really hopeful that they were gonna catch me napping (incriminating) but GOD pass them cos if i hadn't had my docs in my hand luggage, i would have missed that flight as airline wouldn't have waited for me & the stress of having to return for the next day's flight with an infant is better imagined..

For all Mama's in the house looking for decent accommodation in the Sugar land area, Houston TX
I'm staying in a house at Matagorda, Sugar land. It's minutes away from West Houston Medical Centre where I'm going to have my baby. There are shops all around so I know my shopping for baby is sure to be a breeze. The lodging aside, I've been provided other services, for instance I am driven to my Dr's appointment and back again. This saves me the (insane) cost of hiring a taxi. [/b]While this is in no way an advert,[b] this info might prove useful for NL mamas on the forum who are in need of available rooms. Feel free to PM me for more info.

Sugarland to west houston medical centre is not some minutes away o... Those using West Houston, it will be advised to look out for accomodation around the Westchase area. Sugarland is closer to Oakbend .
