V0lv0: . Are you breaking up with me already? ![]() There are stricter laws in Ghana alright. Don't forget that for a foreigner to operate a business of import export and sails and retail in your country, he has to invest 300 thousand US dollars and employ 10 Ghanaians. |

AzontoGhost:The very nature of the post is enough indication is was curled from a source. But if you thought I claimed it as my own effort, sorry then. Ilekeh:There is nothing here that takes anything away from the igbos however much you want to twist it. Our entrepreneural superiority has never been in doubt. |
| Re: List Of Nigerian Tycoons That Impact Ghana's Economy by Ilekeh(f): 3:00pm On Sep 21, 2015 |
CSTR2:We see the value of your entrepreneurial superiority in Asian countries. Just because Yorubas aren't great at noisemaking does not mean they do not surpass you in that arena. You guys are great noisemakers, I'll give you that. |

CSTR2:Would people invest in a country where they know that they will not get any returns. It's a two way thing and besides I won't lie I have not heard of majority of these companies before so I cannot add my input to it. What I was trying to say is would all these companies be allowed to have operated in South Africa, UK, US? I never said investors are bad but I know that there is no other country in the world that this will happen. Ghana is one of the most flexible and lenient when it comes to foreign investors. I know what I am talking about. Ask your fellow brothers in SA if such can ever happen there whether for investment purposes or not. Sometimes I do feel that there should be a limit so that local people can also have chance because at the end of the day. The big money is not going into the average Ghanaian man/woman's pocket but the big dogs. I personally feel that more Ghanaians need to wake up and start taping into more entrepreneurial/business sector and not waiting for foreign investors to do that for them. Don't get me wrong there are some business but I feel that more can be done. Just my personal thought anyways |

mekaboy:Definitely no country can survive without traders but in this modern day, trading is handled by people at the bottom of the social strata not saying you are tho as there are igbos thriving in other sectors.Like i said, its not a noble job especially for men.As regards you giving me your list, its's unneccessary.Gone are the days when you'll tell us you control blah blah and we'll agree with you because reality has never supported you.Regarding the emboldened, take this ![]() CSTR2:Like you saw my comment on the thread right? truefact:I'm not interested in who heads what and besides this list wasn't compiled by the OP.it was compiled by Ghanaians themselves. For me its just another list that destroys your usual chest-beating.Its no big deal.I can guarantee you if other countries compile their list, you'll still find the Ades and Ayos dominating it.I deal with facts only no chest-beating rudebouy:Nope, it is not.I'm only trying to send a message to some chest-beating parrots. The intelligent ones shouldn't be offended. |

Ilekeh:Bleh. Yoruba and entrepreneurism is like water and kerosene. You guys are too dependent on the state. Check out yoruba states and see how salary crunch is impacting terribly on them. And yes, asia is one of the toughest grounds on earth for entrepreneurship. Yorubas don't play at that level. |

Yorubas dominate silently and without pride, that's why we're enjoying our business dividends in foreign countries. We can easily take over Europe in a few years to come, especially if they keep implementing Yoruba languages in their academic curriculum. |

CSTR2:Lmfaooooo ![]() I hear you. Igbos states were also part of the bailout, were they not? Igbos states also owed salaries, did they not? Yorubas and business and politics is like rice and beans. We just don't make noise about it. We don't tell Ghana that we own their lands. |
| Re: List Of Nigerian Tycoons That Impact Ghana's Economy by V0lv0(f): 3:08pm On Sep 21, 2015 |
I don't know why this is turning into a who runs Ghana more between yoruba and Igbo. It's obvious that in Ghana the majority of Nigerians there are of Yoruba origin (they have been living in Ghana for over 200 years or so I read) so it makes sense that it would be common out of all the Nigerian tribes to find them in such positions not saying that other tribes are not also occupying good posts. To be honest a lot of Ghanaians don't really differentiate between tribes. A Nigerian is a Nigerian but I guess only recently that we are becoming more and more aware of the difference of tribes. |

V0lv0:I seriously don't get what you are saying. Nigerian companies like zenith bank GTB, Dangote, silverbird e.t.c have branches in many parts of the world including the UK. Foreign investors employ the local people, put food on their table, and pay taxes to your govt. It is not their fault that the indigenes are not taking advantages of opportunities. I am sure you go to the silverbird cinemas for the latest movies on saturdays. Most of the people that work there are ghanians . The people that enjoy their services are ghanians too. It is a good thing when your country is easy for foreign investment. |

Of course, you would want your govt to create a greater local partnership in foreign investments but not at the risk of driving them away like zimbabwe has been doing which they want to stop by the way. It is a good thing when your country is easy for foreign investment. |
| Re: List Of Nigerian Tycoons That Impact Ghana's Economy by V0lv0(f): 3:19pm On Sep 21, 2015 |
CSTR2:I don't frequent silverbird because I am not based in Ghana. Like I said. I have nothing against investors and I know that it creates employment and people are also enjoying it. It can be good but too much of it is bad Imo. What annoys me is when such hospitality from my motherland turns into mocking and beating of chest which results in stupid comments like Nigerians own Ghana bla bla. The country I currently live in. It's very difficult for a foreign company to operate here unless you are a citenzen. There are very strict laws and regulations here and even if foreign companies have to be in operation they have to employ the local peeps into top positions. Do you even think such Ghana companies can operate in Nigeria. I remember there was a time that a Ghanaian company wanted to open a branch in Nigeria and they were refused. This is not a one time thing as it has happened before. Like I said before I know what I am talking about. I do feel like there should be a limit to a certain extent though and you can disagree or agree with me on that because what benefits a country if it has too much foreign operated companies. You know the whole economic aspect of too much foreign investments and the impact. I doubt I need to elaborate on this. |

V0lv0:I get your point. As you can see the chest beaters here are yorubas, trying to score one against the igbos. They are no way representative of Nigeria. |

Aareonakakanfo:You are funny, trading is not a noble profession for men. Tell that to amazon, walmart, ebay, jumia, konga . What will you call what they do? To you traders might be at the buttom, but if you have ever produced anything for sale, then you will realise the importance of traders. When u have produced a 50 container loads of an item and there is nobody to by then you will realise that traders can make or break you. |
