grin grin grin. NA by force to go there? If you no get money read wella enter Federal Universities. If the churches and individuals were not around your federal school cut off marks would have taken you 7 years to meet for the course you read or are currently reading, again there is employment too.

I am a Catholic and am amaze at what the church is doing to the people they are suppose to be supporting spiritually and physically, a fee of 730.000 is completely outrageous and out of sync with what is expected of church that was the greatest beneficiary of communal land all over the country. For it to now make profit from poverty stricken people shows that the Catholic Church is an EXTRAORDINARY NEIGHBOUR. In a town called Usiefrun they appropriated the land of community, built schools which members of community cannot attend because of the school fee that is above the reach of the people.
The Church must be told a time will come and very soon when the people will take by force what rightly belong to it. Its time genuine catholic get across to the pope and make him understand that what we call Catholic Church in Nigeria is a BIG BUSINESS CONCERN.

You obviously are a very ignorant person, with very little intelligence, no offence smiley, I do not know where you get your news of the Catholic church spitting Oyedepo and his likes, last time I checked it was fellow "Pentecostal" worshipers that do the spitting..

Why I say you are not smart, why bring your case up now, when if you look around, you will see a lot of catholic schools which are the most expensive in the country, especially their secondary school... I have not heard of a Catholic school that is not expensive, never heard of... So I feel it is foolishness for you to think that the Catholics spite Oyedepo, they barely know him seff.. and anybody with good level of intelligence should be able to point out the obvious to them (the Catholics), if at all I believe your story...

Do not let you shear hate for something cloud your judgement, it is one thing to just hate something or somebody and speak of it, it is another to be able to make sound judgement void of mawkishness.... and this goes to every other person out there, that is thinking with their leg instead of their head.... fix it or leg up...
Thanks for the unrequested advice ! But no need 2 be insolent b4 passing a msg on faceless forum like this even with ppl u can never bleep with upon having one on one encounter with them , plus am not the type with shallow brain just like you ! Cos all I see by quoting me is just slowpoke trying to practice his ability to do stunts and not Valid point!

Am not surprise with your response. Am aware you graduated from a Catholic School, so your response is not REPUGNANT, it only proves what we've known long ago as the CATHOLIC MENTALITY, certainly the roaring lion who is out to kill destroy and waste cannot give birth to a LAMB. So long Mr Catholic.

Harvard education. More than 65 percent of
Harvard College students receive scholarship aid,
and the average grant this year is $46,000.
Since 2007, Harvard’s investment in financial aid
has climbed by more than 70 percent, from $96.6

What of Room and Board? you guys dont realise tbat fee includes room and board. Off campus in uniport for eg is about 200k a year, plus other costs like books, assignments 'blocking' and other ubiquitous expenses you will be close to 400k a year. You cannot even quantify in monetary terms lost in strikes and unrest as well as the menace of confraternities. Besides they said 730k is the highest (probably for science courses) so arts and social sciences will be in the 600k range. This is not too bad considering that the schools you mentioned have already crossed the N1m mark. Note also that this is cheaper than any tertiary institution in Uk and US (including community colleges).

To you that are posting rubbish here, University is not meant for the richest but the brightest.

If Catholic University should cost N700k in this country, how will the church ensue that the smart but poor child get educated in such University?

People keep talking trash about how Costly American and British Universities are, but we know that hardly would there be a Bright American or British Child without access to University.

In Scotland that I know very well, a government loan system takes care off all, which you will start paying only when you earn above £16,000 per annum (as at 2009).

How does Nigeria compare to this?

The issue is not about the number of Universities or graduates but it's quality. How do we ensure that our Universities turns out the best among us? Is it by making it an exclusive preserve of the rich, whose fathers were all trained with community and Nigerian fund.

Our problem in Nigeria is a sick elite who only concern is to preserve the country for their children who may not be the smartest.

When we are ready as people, we will structure our country, the Univerties, the Ministries, the political offices, the companies etc. for the smartest among us and not for privileged idiots.

If we don't do that, we all perish in a sickening good for nothing entity called Nigeria

Indeed!

If Catholic University should cost N700k in this country, how will the church ensue that the smart but poor child get educated in such University?
By scholarships and non-interest grants. And by parents saving money for their child's education.....

People keep talking trash about how Costly American and British Universities are, but we know that hardly would there be a Bright American or British Child without access to University.
If you think education is expensive, try illiteracy...R.Reagan.

In Scotland that I know very well, a government loan system takes care off all, which you will start paying only when you earn above £16,000 per annum (as at 2009).
And Scotland has high taxes, and earns a lot of money from oil, and corporate taxes. ....and has less than 6 million people. It also has light and water 24/7. Plus...alumni of Scot unis donate heavily to the unis....and the unis get research grants running into hundreds of million s of pounds.Nigerian unis cannot dream of that....plus you people would rebel if you were charged the same amount of taxes the average Scot pays.(Like Council tax, TV licence, income tax, etc).

How does Nigeria compare to this?
Awoof education.....is not good for a nation.

Yes....so we should pay low fees....so that we can continue having poor funding for our unviersities? Sorry....but this is not the 1970's....when there were less than 90000 students in our universities. THis is now....where numbers may be higher than 2million

When we are ready as people, we will structure our country, the Univerties, the Ministries, the political offices, the companies etc. for the smartest among us and not for privileged idiots.
And how many are the smartest? Who determines who is smart? And won't the rich be over-represented among the smart.?

Simple fact is....if you want awoof education.....either you pay high taxes, like Denmark where it is 50% rate.......or you are an industrial nation like Germany and China.
