The other way is not easier either. Would u have preferred we played Mali in the Q/Final? Dnt rule out Belgium as u recall they played 1-1 with Mali at the grp stage. And for Costa-Rica to hold the rampaging French team to a 0-0 draw at regulation time it means they are a good side too.

For me I think the tournament just really started. Days of 5-0, 5-1,6-0 wins are over I think. We are facing the real contenders now.

I would love a Nigeria Mali final!

Mali should have won the game against Belgium by at least 3 goals. Mali looked like a far better team than Belgium in the first game.

Diarra's stats is based on a kind of percentage coz the Likes of Moud (24 saves), Akpan Udoh (12saves) and few others have more saves..... *but in terms of save % ratio, Diarra leads*

Diarra's save percentage should stand at maybe over 90%. Udoh's stand at 80 % or so..... And so it goes.

So yeah, Mali's Diarra takes it as The Tournament's leading goalie at the moment. (Coz out about maybe 9 or 10 shots on goal against mali, Diarra had stopped like 8 of them). So his save percentage is the highest (I'll put this down also to this fact: Diarra has not really been "tested" but he's a fine goalie all the same).

Chukwueze is 3rd on the log, behind Eggestein with 3 goals and 2 assists, one more and he'll go second. Nwakali is 6th.

Nobody can catch Osimehn at the top
I'm Not Saying They Should Compete With Him,Wah I Meant Was That Chukwueze And Nwakali Should Brace Up To Have More Goals So As To Cover Up For Osimehn In case Other Players Wanna Compete With Him.

I Think It Was Based On The GOALS CONCEDED.

Udoh Has Conceded 3 Goals...
Moud Has Conceded 2 Goals...
Diarra Conceded Only 1 Goal...

So,Diarra Takes The Lead.
Just My Opinion Though.

“I’m feeling great because this is the best time of my life. I can only congratulate my players on what they did today in a hard match.

We had a few matches in the European qualifying but this was the hardest. We are an excellent team, we played one hour at a great level and won a good way.

At half time, I explained we had to manage the midfield better and this was key to the victory,"Dario Basic, Croatia coach.

“Congratulations to Croatia for the deserved victory. We are disappointed because we expected better results from this World Cup. We played a very bad first half but in the second half we improved, yet we couldn't seize the opportunities we generated.

This German team is very young and still lack the capacity to maintain an even level of play,"Christian Wuck, Germany coach.

"It was a perfect match from our side but it was also a tough game. We had some difficulties as we received some yellow cards. Congratulations to my team.

Korea had a good game with quick players. But we played better. Our individual skills brought us the victory. We are happy that we are now in the next round. The team is here to win the title but we will do it step by step. This was also our last match in Talca and I want to say thank you. We will take some great memories with us and we met new friends. I never watched a game of Croatia but I’m looking forward to analyze their match against Germany."

Baye Ba, Mali coach
"Our plan was to stop the offense of Mali from the beginning as we know how strong the strikers are.

But unfortunately we conceded an early goal. My players improved from match to match. This is only another step on their way in football. Brazil is the weakest team in this round. Luck has been pushing them, they're relatively weak compared to past sets.

Mali and Croatia should be one to watch, toughest draw this round

I secretly hope for a Croatian win
Honestly both are potential threats to the NGR side, I kinda wish Mali wins cos Croatians seems more defensive & cohesive.

Beninoise FA Lures 3 Nigerians Into Benin U-17
Taofeek Lawal

The Football Association of the Republic of Benin is making frantic efforts to convince three Nigerians belonging to A-Square Soccer Academy, who just returned from a West African playing tour to become Beninoise nationals and join the Beninoise under-17 team.

The academy, which has the secretary of the former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi as its grand patron just returned from a playing tour which took them to Benin, Togo and Ghana.

While speaking with newsmen on their arrival in Ibadan at a small reception held by Ogunjobi before heading to Ilesa, Osun State where the team is camped, the team’s coach, Okiki Oladiran Stephen revealed that Alao Kabiru, Ifoni Pepo and Adesina Temitope have been invited by Benin FA.

The boys, according to the academy’s officials, was spotted by Abiodun Anosi and Adjileye Raimi, both members of Benin Football Association while playing against Dragons Feeders Team, All Stars Team and Avranku FC Benin at the Porto Novo Stadium, Benin and have since been making frantic efforts to convince their parents to allow the boys join the Benin national U-17.

Two other members of the team, Olayinka Johnson and Alao Monsuru, were also approached by the Benin top club to put pen to paper for Dragons FC.

“All these boys were picked from all participating states that featured in the Oba Aromolaran National Soccer Tourney played in Ilesa last year and assembled by the organisers of the competition, A-Square Sports International,” Ogunjobi noted.

Pinnick praises Eaglets, wants focus on trophy

President of Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick has applauded the six-star performance of the Golden Eaglets in routing Australia to reach the FIFA U-17 World Cup quarter -finals early Thursday morning.

The Cup holders started slowly as the Aussies swamped all over the pitch at the Estadio Sausalito in Vina del Mar, but the tactically aware and inventive Eaglets waited for the right time to land the sucker punch, and then took the game by the jugular as the young boys from Down Under literally went down under the superior savvy and precision of the world champions.

“I must start by pouring encomiums on the players and officials of the Golden Eaglets, not just for the victory over Australia that has taken us closer to the objective of retaining the trophy, but also for their general comportment and discipline which has been acknowledged by all at the World Cup in Chile.

“They have been doing the nation proud. The victories over USA, host Chile and now Australia were well –deserved, because they toiled and invented and never let up, even when leading the opposition. Even when they lost to Croatia, they played with their hearts. The NFF is very proud of Coach Emmanuel Amuneke and the players,” stated Pinnick.

Before the players departed for Argentina for their final training camp, Pinnick met with Coach Amuneke and the players and charged them to do everything they could to retain the trophy, won for an unprecedented fourth time for Nigeria by the Manu Garba –led Class of 2013. The NFF boss reminded the players and coaches that President Muhammadu Buhari was the first Nigerian leader to receive the FIFA Cadet World Cup, in his first coming as a military Head of State in 1985. That year, Nduka Ugbade-led the squad that won the inaugural tournament in China.

“I assure you that President Buhari will also be waiting to receive the trophy again this time, and you all would be the first group of footballers to be hosted specially by the President,” said Pinnick.

On the eve of their first match against USA in Santiago, the players and coaches received an even heftier charge from President Muhammadu Buhari himself, telling them to go for the trophy.

“The NFF is happy with the progress the team has been making, but I want them to focus hard on the challenges ahead and know that the trophy is the ultimate. They are so close to glory but they must be focused and have strong mental attitude on the field of play.”

The Eaglets take on Brazil for a place in the semi-finals at the now –familiar Estadio Sausalito in Vina del Mar (where they pounded host Chile 5-1 and victimised Australia 6-0) on Sunday (starting 8pm Nigeria time).

Kanu: Brazil Can’t Stop Golden Eaglets

By Bamidele Boluwaji:

Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu believes that the Golden Eaglets has what it takes to beat Brazil in the quarter-final stage of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup holding in Chile, saying he has no cause to doubt the ability of Coach Emmanuel Ameneke in leading Nigeria to win the trophy,
completesportsnigeria.con can report

The Golden Eagles whipped Australia 6-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals where and the Nigerians will be banking on their performance and experience in the developmental tournament to scale through the hurdle of the Brazilians.

Speaking ahead of the Sunday's quarter-final match, the former Inter Milan of Italy striker said losing to Croatia at the group stage was good for the Nigerian boys who have realised the need to step up their game.

"I don't see Brazil beating Nigeria from what I have seen in our boys, they are playing good football and they are well talented," the star of the world title-winning 1993 Golden Eaglets told Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

"The Croatia match was a wake-up call for the boys and I am happy that they bounced back to even beat Australia 6-0.

"The coach knows what he is doing and what is at stake at this stage of the competition, so I have no doubt that he will deliver the cup.

"The performance of the players so far shows that the coach has enough quality and experience to win the trophy."

Kanu however enjoined the players to give their best against Brazil and believe in what they can do.

"They just have to believe that they can do it because self-belief matters. If you believe you can do it, and then your effort will see you through. We must also support the team and believe in them," he added.

Mali vs Croatia is going to be an interesting encounter. These two teams are good, very good.

Mali have only conceeded a goal via a penalty. They have the highest attempts on goal, 92 attempts in just 4 games and 36 attempts against them(average of 8 attempts per game). But to me they've played against average teams (Belgium, Ecuador, Honduras) grp stage and North Korea round of 16. Yes 3 teams from that group are through to quarter final.
Croatia is the perfect test for Mali. Croatia is made up of dinamo zagreb's players, they play week in week out and the teamwork is there. We've seen this in their games against Usa, Nigeria and Germany. They've defeated 2 favorites(Nigera nd germany) already knocking one out. Croatia is still unbeaten in 15 games.

Good Nigerians appreciate the GOALKEEPER-Udoh Akpan.Kudos must go to the man(Trainer)-Emeka Amadi who has been saddled with the responsiblity of training and developing the young lads,he did it with Alampasu and now the world is seeing another potential Great keeper in Akpan Udoh.I think it clearly shows that the Emeka Amadi knows his onions.
In reply to the comment that chukwueze and Nwakali were discovered by Manu so Osimhen is the only discovery of Amunike.IT IS A BIG LIE because AMUNIKE discovered the two boys and influenced their invitation to the pre world cup camp of the 2013 set.
So many Nigerians never believed in this boys and that has been the boys' motivating factor.Amuneke should be praised for the good work despite the lack of support from the NFF(No salaries,No Allowances)......Nigeria our Country!!!!!!Wish the boys all the very best today against Brazil

Alampasu Warns Golden Eaglets Against Dangerous Brazil

By Adeboye Amosu:

Former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu, has warned the team that they must be at their best against Brazil when both countries clash in Sunday’s quarter-final match at the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, reports Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

The Nigerians who have won the title a record four times will face their biggest test yet in the competition when they come up against the three-time winners.

Alampasu who was voted the best goalkeeper at the 2013 edition of the competition in the United Arab Emirates challenged the team not to be intimidated by the South Americans.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but they must be ready to give their all against the dangerous Brazilians,” the Portugal-based keeper told Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

“They have done well so far in the competition which should give them enough confidence going into the game.”

A battle between two former champions,
including the holders, highlights the opening day
of quarter-final action at the FIFA U-17 World
Cup Chile 2015, while the winner of the day’s
other last eight clash will make history in Chillan.
Three-time champions Brazil face off against
four-time winners and holders Nigeria in Vina Del
Mar for the first time at this level before Croatia
and Mali face off for a spot in what would be
either side’s inaugural semi-final at this level.
Match of the day
Brazil-Nigeria, Vina Del Mar, 1 November 2015,
16:00 (local time)
Vina Del Mar has been a kind venue for A Seleção
in the past, playing host to four of Brazil’s games
in their victorious FIFA World Cup campaign in
1962, with that trend continuing with two
victories at the Estadio Sausalito during Chile
2015. Nigeria stand in the way of Carlos
Amadeu’s men continuing their charmed streak
in Vina, and the imperious Victor Osimhen will be
giving Brazil’s defenders restless nights ahead of
the quarter-final. The Nigerian No9 has scored
seven goals in four games. Seven is also the
number of titles shared between these sides, but
this game is remarkably the first meeting
between the two sides at this level, although the
nations’ U-20 sides faced off in New Zealand
earlier this year – with Brazil the 4-2 victors.
The other match
Croatia face Mali in a truly ground-breaking
game. The European side played in and won
their first U-17 World Cup knockout game against
Germany in the previous round, and face Mali in
a FIFA tournament for the first time. Mali might
have reached this stage twice before (in 1997
and 2001), but they have never gone further,
meaning the victors would reach the final four at
the U-17 global finals for the first time. The
African side saw off Korea DPR in a dominant
performance in the Round of 16, and now boast
the best defensive record in the tournament,
having conceded just one goal – against Ecuador
in the group stages. Croatia will need all the
creative guile of Nikola Moro and their
technically gifted frontmen to unlock the
Africans, with the Croat captain registering two
goals and two assists so far.
Player to watch
Josip Brekalo (Croatia)
While Moro has stolen the headlines in Chile,
Brekalo has been in inspired form in South
America. The No7 was sensational against
Germany in the previous round, consistently
attacking the right side of the DFB-Nachwuchs
defence with a tormenting combination of
intricate footwork and devastating delivery. He
hit the woodwork and was instrumental in both
goals, crossing for Moro’s opener and snatching
possession before setting free Ivan Delic to tee
up Davor Lovren’s late tap-in. The African’s
superb defensive record so far will certainly be
under threat from the gifted Dinamo Zagreb
youngster.
The stat
200 minutes without conceding a goal for Mali at
this tournament. They have some way to go to
catch the record, a staggering 830 minute run
set by Nigeria at the 1987, 1989 & 1993 finals.
The words
“We are candidates to win the title, but so are
Brazil. We will work to put up a good fight,"
Emmanuel Amuneke, Nigeria coach.

By James Agberebi:

Former Nigeria international, Garba Lawal, has urged the Golden Eaglets to have the belief they can beat Brazil in their quarter-final clash at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile on Sunday.

Despite winning the U-17 World Cup for a record four times, the Golden Eaglets have never met Brazil in the competition.

In a chat with Comple tesportsnigeria.com, Lawal task edthe players to remain focused throughout the game.

“Football is all about winning and it is all about belief and the quality in a team. I believe Amuneke knows each and every one of his players. He knows what they can do and what they cannot do,” Lawal told, an Olympic gold medallist, told Comple yesportsnigeria.com.

“We know Brazil when it comes to football. If you want to beat Brazil you have to play as a team, you have to focus for 120 minutes because you never can tell what will happen.

“I remember in Atlanta 1996, we were 3-1 down. But in the second half, we scored two goals before going ahead to score the golden goal.

“I will advise that the Eaglets defence remain fully concentrated for 90 minutes. And they should try and avoid fouls around the box because we all know the Brazilians are very good when it comes to free-kicks. But our boys must show them they have the strength and skill to march them.”

FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015
Dedicated Nwakali eyes more family glory

It would be stretching the truth a little to say that Nigeria playmaker and captain Kelechi Nwakali already knows what it means to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“I was in the pre-World Cup training squad in 2013 but I didn’t make the squad that went on to win the trophy,” he explained in an interview with FIFA.com.“My brother Chidiebere was there, though, and of course I felt proud and happy for the other players.”

Nor did Nwakali have the opportunity to travel to United Arab Emirates to cheer on his brother, a defender who contributed two goals to the Golden Eaglets’ triumphant campaign. Explaining why, the younger of the two Nwakali boys said: “I had to train at the academy and it would have been impossible for me to go. I didn’t have any contact with him during the tournament because he had to focus on playing. Obviously, I watched all the games on TV though.”

Eighteen months younger than his sibling, Kelechi was not even at home to welcome the returning hero, with football once again the culprit: “I was away playing in a tournament and I only saw him a week later. We spoke about everything and he said that what drove him on the most was his desire to make the people of Nigeria happy.”

So what is driving the No10 on at Chile 2015? “Winning. We came here to retain the trophy. We want to win the title and we haven’t come for anything less.”

Beating Brazil
On the basis of his side’s performances at Chile 2015 so far, Nwakali seems to have every chance of achieving his goal, with Nigeria going into their quarter-final duel with Brazil as favourites, not that he is getting carried away about that: “It’s a mistake to say that simply because we beat Australia 6-0 and they beat New Zealand 1-0. It doesn’t matter how they won. They won because they were better and that’s all we should be worried about.”

The two sides faced off in a friendly in Korea Republic a few months ago, the Nigerians emerging 3-2 winners. Again, however, the Golden Eaglets’ skipper, who has two goals – both penalties – and two assists to his name so far at Chile 2015, refuses to see that meeting as a pointer: “It was just a friendly, and this game will be totally different. It doesn’t matter what others say because we’ll never underestimate anyone, least of all Brazil.”

Focusing on what the Nigerians need to do to win the game, he added: “We’re young players and the one thing we have to strive for is to get better in every game.

The only way we can win this competition is to surpass ourselves in each and every match, and we do that by listening to the coach. He’s the one who’s brought us here and he has the experience that’s needed.”

A born leader
It is no surprise that Nwakali should mention coach Emmanuel Amuneke, given the key role he plays for the Nigeria boss on the pitch: “I am sort of his right-hand man because he usually gives me instructions to pass on to the rest of my team-mates.”

Yet, as Nwakali went on to explain, as soon as the whistle sounds, Amuneke lets the players take control: “The coach always tells us that when the game starts he can’t be on top of us all the time. He encourages us to think for ourselves and to make our own decisions.”

Rare is the moment when Nwakali is not thinking about football. “It’s been that way since I was 11,” he said. “When I’m not on the pitch, I’m watching matches on TV or playing football games on my phone.”

His role model is Yaya Toure: “I love watching him play because he loves to win. That’s all he wants. You can see it in the way he plays, the way he runs and even in the way he walks on the pitch.”

Though Nwakali is still at the academy where he learned his trade, he has hopes one day of going on to bigger things: “I want to play for a side that’s going places, like Manchester City.”

Should he do so, he would be following in the footsteps of brother Chidiebere, who has signed for City and is currently on loan with Spanish side Girona.

Talking of his older brother again, did he get any advice from him before setting off for Chile? “None.

We’re close but he’s got his own career to think about. We haven’t even spoken about it and nor will we. Just as he did two years ago, I need to concentrate on what I’m experiencing here. I have to focus on improving so that we can be champions.”

People always accuse Nigeria of age cheating and i have always opposed that notion. Yes some old men might slip through the cracks and play for our under 17 but to accuse the teams as a whole is just plain wrong.
The typical African child is stronger than their western counterpart and this is without even playing sports. Most African children do alot of rigorous tasks on a daily bases, for instance fetching water everyday or cutting grass. By the time a child reaches 15 he might be as strong as most men. So of course they can then physically dominate their agemates from other countries.

Now why do they not get better?
Them not progressing in their careers proves nothing to me because not everyone improves, sometimes we get to a certain level and try as u might u will never pass it. Also most these boys don't have the right amount education for them to survive in a professional job. We forget that playing football is a job and for every job we all need the same basic skills thought in schools no matter what line it is. If we want players that will make us proud we have to educate these boys, either force the academies to have classrooms or we bring back secondary school football because one thing is for sure Nigeria will win these tournaments regardless but we need to start thinking about these kids future.

FIFA U-17 World Cup: Golden Eaglets, here are 5 secrets of the Brazilians
By Jide Alaka

As the Nigeria U-17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets, go up against their Brazilian counterparts, A Selecao, on Sunday, one statistics jumps out at you – Victor Osimhen, with seven goals has scored more goals than the collective Brazil team – who have scored just five times in their four matches.

The two countries are the most successful sides at this category. Nigeria with four wins, followed by Brazil with three triumphs.

Head to head
Unbelievably, this is the first meeting between the two sides at this level.

The Journey
The two countries started their journey to theNovember 8final on October 17 but while the Eaglets recorded a 2-0 win over the USA, Brazil lost 1-0 to South Korea.

Three matches afterwards, they are going head to head to determine who will go ahead to play either Mexico or Ecuador in the semis.

Matches Nigeria
Score Brazil Score vs. USA
2 – 0 vs. South Korea 0 – 1 vs. Chile
5 – 1 vs. England 1 – 0vs. Croatia
1 – 2 vs. Guinea 3 – 1v s. Australia
6 – 0 vs. New Zealand1 – 0

From the four matches that the Brazilians, we gleaned that:

They are very physical
In four matches, the Brazilians have been shown two red cards and five yellow cards. They can be pushed to making rash tackles especially when they are a bit frustrated. The Eaglets will be best advised to be physical as well but caution themselves to fight for only 50/50 balls.

They keep playing until the last second
In the four matches they have played, they have scored with virtually the last kick of the games. Their 1-0 victory over England was achieved from a direct free kick in the 90th minute whilst also the 1-0 victory over New Zealand was achieved with a penalty six minutes into added time. So unless the Eaglets are leading by 3-0 and upwards, they cannot afford to give the young Brazilians opportunity to come storming back.

They depend on set plays for goals
In the five goals they have scored, two have been from penalty kicks, including the 96th minute winner against New Zealand in the last round while another two have been from set plays near the opponents’ box. Leandro scored directly from a free kick against England and Arthur scored with a header from a free kick against Guinea.

They don’t like been dribbled
Their goalkeeper, Juliano, has had to produce 15 saves in the tournament, an indication that their backline is not the tightest.

England, South Korea and Guinea did not capitalize on this apparent weakness because they did not go at the Brazilians consistently.

Coach Emmanuel Amuneke will be advised to instruct his two wide men – Samuel Chukwueze and Funsho Bamgboye – to take the ball and run at the Brazilian defenders and they can add long range shots to that set of instructions.

So the Eaglets must play like they did Chile…
Amuneke’s boys may have whitewashed Australia 6-0 in the last round but their most clinical display was the 5-1 victory over hosts, Chile, in the group stage.

That game could have ended 10-0 to the Nigerians as they were relentless in pushing forward into dangerous attacking zones. They must show that template against a Brazilian side that likes to play in swathes and who play with a slow tempo.
