Yup at oakbend for my daughter they gave me that birth certificate. Haven't used it to do anything though.

There is Wifii, there is a photographer and freebies (I got diapers, wipes, pad, formular, blankets, some baby onesies, cap and socks), breast milk storage containers and some coupons I never used
(Started pumping in the hospital cuz of jaundice - hence the storage bottles)
- the formula they gave me was ready to drink, the already liquified ones in small bottles.

P.s all these things we call freebies are already billed into the cost and is not actually free

Gwinnett is faaaaar more expensive so temper expectations

Hello everyone,

What an amazing forum and people in it!
My wife and I plan to travel to the US in March to deliver in June. We'll be landing at JFK.
Has anyone delivered in New Jersey? Specifically JFK Medical Centre or other hospitals in the Edison area?
Appreciate anyone referring doctors and fees and hospital fees. Impossible to find the costs online.

Thank you so much and God bless.

Try sending the money via western union to your self before you leave or have someone send it after u leave., cheaper than black market. My mum did something like that a week ago via 1st bank, the exchange rate was N199.8 to $1 but u will pay bank charges about N15k + to send $1k, so all in all it will come out to about N216 per $1. Better than black market.
But theres a snag, 1st bank says u can only send $1k per transaction, they gave my mum a story i could not quiet understand . Try other banks that send western union. Bank transfer is a no no, even before $went up toN260, bank was changinging at N237 per $ for bank wire transfer, minus fees.

Very very annoying VO's....it's sad being rejected for such an important cause as childbirth ..I have been rejected twice..once wen I applied in uk and once from naija...reason being I'm too young and can decide to change my mind and permanent myself wen I reach dia...even with good space of time between both applications.even as I've got good travel history... Now I have ported from singlehood to iyawohood grin I shall reapply wen kpekusing has yielded fruit with changed name..God willing it will end in praise..
Just follow all that relates to you on this forum and you'll be sharing your success story in no time...I can't wait to share mine when the time comes..

I was at the embassy today with hubby and daughter but wasn't issued visa. This was how things went.
Vo..good afternoon
Us. Afternoon
VO what are u going to atlanta to do
Me..childbirth
DH vacation and to witness the birth of my baby
VO..have u travelled b4
Both..NO
Vo..why atlanta
Dh..a friend gave birth there and recommended atlanta and the hospital
Vo..how much do u earn
Us..said
Vo..how much do u want to spend
Dh..over 14k dolls...( Huby said ah but this isn't medical question..xuz were going for childbirth)
VO just said sorry bla bla...my husband no make she finish before storming out ..no documents checked...I M thinking mayb the VO didn't hear all we were saying...abi..abeg Wetin we fit do...I want my American dream ooo..
@bolded
he was the one that took the refusal note, not that his storming out had any influence on the refusal ( I wrote the situation wrongly.

Ohh..i guess my mood made me paint the situation wrongly..
My DH left the scene after the VO handed him the refusal note and not before. (who go proud for this kind situation) . Guess the shock of refusal just made him leave sharply without saying a word.
Please house I need the way forward.
Most answers were dwelling on DH.but it wasn't as I painted. I already edited my main post...biko.help

So sorry abt the refusal, but ur hubby for just chill get patience small, Its the VO asking the question not ur hubby, anything can cause a refusal.
It is well my dear, I think u ve to reapply....

He said after the refusal note was given, what should I expect, he claimed their was nothing to wait for again.... I quoted the situation wrongly. Pls advise based on the interview as DH leaving had no effect at all on the refusal.he was the one that took the refusal note sef..i just said that to buttress the refusal shock

@Hellomosquito 1. Ur transcript isn't complete. U didn't post ur income.
2. No travel history although people in same issues get visas aall the time but;
3. Ofa come spoil matter. Vo's are human and all want to feel important. Its within their personal prerogativeto give or deny visas. If na me sef go bounce una jus to prove a point. cheesy Whatever his feelings were, he should have checked it. Moreso the question was not out of line cos they need to know u are prepared.
I suggest u reapply alone
DH 320k while mine is 200k
No travel history, the birthing is the first major travel reason we have.
All I read here was that questions will change after declaration for birthing but based on what the VO asked it didnt?...and I guessed we were answering based on birthing. Example was how much do we spend for the trip (we said over 14k dolls) who earns 320k# to spend 14k in 2weeks ( based on VO thinking it was vacation my guess though
How do we correct this
1. Do we apply together ( DH,me and daughter) or??
2. When asked reason for refusal, what do I write.
Thanks

You are right... Sometimes your mode of communication matters alot. If you don't have additional information about the question asked just stick to yes or No answers. It helps alot.

Thanks a lot for your input, I also think one can say more if there is a reason for it, but most post I read will always emphasise do not say anything other than what asked cuz as my interview went on...I guess I ought to had told the VO that her questions weren't for medical cuz it was obvious she didn't ask anything at all in that line but I chose to keep quiet cuz of the don't over smile or talk to the VO thing..(mayb things would had changed if I chipped in)
But the scene looked relax cuz she was even smiling to my daughter even after she knew she would refuse.
All I need is advise on how to proceed cuz I definitely want to reapply.

I think @ the bold could ve logically struck the VO that u planned and is reciting a typical medical visa interview session.
This they most probably put as a suffix for misrepresentation which further is a red flag for denial.
U could reapply again n be str8 n simple this tyme.. plus try both be in sync. ..
Good luck
Yeah you said what I guessed was the problem we had, answering questions cuz we had an assumption it will be medical questions which unfortunately wasn't..although DH didn't say it out but he told me that was what he was thinking...
Do we apply (3 of us as b4) or otherwise.
What do we put as reason for first refusal in the Ds160. Plus how do we explain if asked in the new interview

Good morning my people.
@afrobrown pls which one be SSA lipsrsealed pls educate me.I love your attitude jare.airline give lemons you made lemonade sharply. smiley
To all the new mommies and daddies Congratulations grin
Welcome home to mommies that has landed in our dusty naija.
@ hellomosquito you mean after reading part1-3 of this thread, asked questions, probably made payments to get Dr documents, hubby come fall your hand.
Ha I pray that the VO no resemble me walai cos i will just put red flag in the system, case closed.I worked in personnel so when I come across pple like your hubby(basketball size ego on their head and shoulder) he better be highly connected otherwise apologise or just jejely go to another state/branch chikena.
Firstly the VO is not his uncle's wife or cousins best friend sister undecided and US visa is not naija national cake that has a sharing ratio grin. The VO can basically phyco-analyse(too much CSI series grin) his ass across that window because they are well trained for the job and not because Obama is their uncle undecided
Thank God he is not my hubby because I will serve him his favourite food he will put hand he won't be able to eat sef after I have read a few chapters from the story of his life for him.
This reminds of my last visa interview in 2011,Danjuma's wife(serving Senator then and seasoned traveller) was in our front and this mean VO started with her, she has to explain why only one kid travelled with her (na there I know sey all her kids be UK citizens),what she did in Washington for one week, why she is using her hubby account and she is a director in the oil coy cry.Thank God she wasn't empty headed and in a cool and collected manner answered all his questions with a smile on her face, immediately I stand up go piss begin pray for toilet.
Me wey dey form confidence before as na my 2nd renewal cry
When it's our turn(hubby,me,daughter).I was pregnant, didn't go with any doctor's correspondence, budget sheet, etc just normal documents.
VO:good morning
Us:good morning
VO:he just face me,you are pregnant?
Me:Yes
VO:do you plan to have this baby in the US?
Me:I smiled and looked at hubby, hubby said I don't know because it took us a while to get pregnant again(8yrs) and I can't leave her for too long.
VO:He smiled and said let's take a proactive approach, took our passports, gave us a white A4 paper with some written info on it and said come back anytime b4 2pm Mon-Thursday with Dr correspondence and financials to show ability that you can pay then you can pick your passports. shocked
Well we re-strategise,did the needful and went back in 2 weeks with d paper, got to the gate around 11am.The security called someone inside, got in,the same VO came out,key the Dr info into the system, check only my hubby account statement and gave us our passports with visa inside.
POE; Got to Detroit, the man just checked the system, said i can see the embassy is aware that you are giving birth, scan our fingers, asked how far along I was and said enjoy your stay.no secondary screening blah blah.
Moreover in this forum, some were rejected and was brave enough to go back 2/3 times and got it even the current VO could see in the system that they were rejected before and asked them why.
Bia hellomosquito apply again with your hubby(condition him to read part1-3 of this thread) so that he will know that Saka is different from Solomon grin and bind that prouding spirit sharply.

Pls no vex, na me put my DH for issue...he is not proud at all oooo....na dryness make cray fish bend kikikikikik....pls based on the fact that the refusal was given before he left....what do u advise

Apply again and alone...isn't that what everyone has said? What more do you want them to say nah

A couple of people applied as a family first and had better luck when they applied as individuals even our dear Ozycy

And stick to the questions asked, you don't know the reason for the VO asking any question. In your mind what is a medical question anyways? Cuz why will a simple question such as how much do you want to spend throw you guys off guard? Isn't that a normal question, it's at that point you should have even answered and passed your budget sheet

My Friend (not pregnant) was denied cuz they asked her what do you do /how much do you earn and she was like why are you asking, I'm not the one sponsoring myself as indicated in the form, haba, why do people find it hard to just answer questions simply? The fact that you have rehearsed doesn't mean the VO will stick to the script you have in your head

The apply alone advice is not necessarily because of what you said about your Dh but if method A doesn't work, try method B. They can serve as your tie to come back home and also since your income isn't 'much', it may make sense for only one person to be applying based on that amount

Anyways best of luck
