Nigeria has a potential golden generation coming up but i worry NFF will ruin it with the super eagles management.

Don't even go as far as the NFF, enomakos here is even saying Siasia is going to Rio with "his boys". This will mean most of the players that we have been tipping to be part of the golden generation will nt be in Rio and that will definitely derail the much expected transition into the anticipated Golden Generation.

In as much as I know such things happen and also that enomakos is jst saying it as his own opinion or view, the fact is coaches do that.

I would only wish for Siasia to go for our best legs.

Hahaha.... Not anymore Sir. Not anymore.... Like Sir Tbaba1234 said, Leon Balogun is indeed Nigeria's best CB in Europe right now. His stats @Mainz are really impressive.

Haba!!! 80% of the combined AAG and CAF U-23 Afcon squads.

Naah.... That won't happen.

Factor in Siasia's comments about Iheanacho, Success, and even Overaged players like Ighalo plus the outstanding talents that will still break into the squad before August and you will see that NOT EVEN 50% of his previous squads to the AAG and U-23 Afcon will make it

I expect to see, AT THE VERY MOST, 45% of Siasia's previous squads to the U-23 Afcon and AAG make the final squad to Rio.

If Siasia goes for the BEST OF THE BEST AMONG OUR U-23 SUPER TALENTS (which I believe he will) plus his preferred 3 overaged players then his previous squads might not even make up close to 45% (the most I predict) of his final squad to Rio 2016.

enomakos:
yes siasia already have his team, forget about all the new players he invited,80% of the player that take part in the all africa game and senegal will make it to the olympic

Siasia might be alot of things but "insane" isn't one of them. Though he might have to take "his boys" to rio this time cuz no european team would want to release their players but not at the games proper when Iheanacho and co will be available.

Then I can categorically state that he would be doing Nigerians a great disservice if he goes with 80% of that squad.

Draw a starting 11 of Nigerian U23s doing well all over the world and u'll see that virtually none (except the goalie) of those CAF U23 would make the list.

I dnt believe Siasia would do this. I believe he would select the best for us irrespective of whether they are "his boys" or not.
let wait and see sir i pray he goes with our best leg but the siasia i know does not change his team

Brazil announce Olympic friendlies with Nigeria and South Africa
[/size]

Seleção Olímpica

The Selecao will meet their fellow medal hopefuls in March ahead of the Rio games, where the Selecao hope to claim their first gold

Brazil’s Olympic side will meet fellow gold medal hopefuls Nigeria and South Africa in March friendlies, the Brazilian football confederation (CBF) has announced.

The Selecao will face Nigeria on March 24 at the Estadio Kleber Andrade in Cariacica, Espirito Santo, before meeting South Africa on March 27 at the Estadio Rei Pele in Maceio, Alagoas.

The two warm-up matches have been arranged not only to provide the team a taste of their opponents at the tournament, but to test them against demanding home crowds.

Brazil are hoping to end their long wait for their Olympic glory in Rio in August, with the gold medal the one remaining major title for which the five-time world champions are eligible that they are yet to claim.

Rogerio Micale is coaching the side ahead of the Rio games but senior team coach Dunga will take over for the tournament itself.

The squad will be made up of under-23 players, though each country is permitted three overage players.

Dunga’s preferred overage trio are reported to be Internacional goalkeeper Alisson, Inter defender Miranda and Barcelona’s Neymar, but with European clubs under no obligation to release their players for the tournament, it remains to be seen whether they will compete at the games.

I don't think we have to wait for Musa Mohamed to become a regular in his club, cuz from wat i can see he is our best option for both super eagles and u-23.

He is not the best option... Ehizibue plays regularly at right back for PEC Zwolle in the Dutch top division.

So this one too is our best Super Eagles Right back?

See, u cannot say any player is d best for a particular position until that player is capped and plays a couple of competitive games.

U guys talk as though we have no defenders at all in d Super Eagles that u'll mention untested players and claim they are d best options.

Jst recently here also there were talks of Awaziem and Balogun being d best Centre Back pairing. Awaziem makes 2nd or 3rd start for Porto FC and all of a sudden becomes our best centre back partner with Balogun.

Right now, he is probably the best option based on who is playing well and regularly at a decent level. I have seen a bit of him and he is very good. I think the best right backs in Europe based on regular game time and quality are Ehizibue and Odubajo

You cannot say an uncapped player is the best Right back for the Super Eagles. A player that is not tested?

U can only wish for the Super Eagles coaches to invite him to d national team and see how he (d player) fits in. He being d best option would b determined by his performance after a series of matches.

The Youngsters u guys jst mentioned, includiing Awaziem, may b our future prospects bt i dnt think they are currently our best defense options yet.

Of course, but based on the performances in Europe, these are the best options. How they will fit into the team is another issue and it is not down to just talent. It depends on how they are used and how quickly they settle into the team.

I am nt even sure all those guys u peeps have been mentioning can even make d U23 team starting 11 if invited.(Awaziem, Mohammed, Odubanjo, Ehizibue)

If Awaziem can make the first team of FC Porto and picks a regular starting place, he is good enough to make the Super Eagles, forget the under 23s.. It is not as if our super eagles are that great.

Coaches invite players that are on form and playing regularly.

When you invite them, then you can see how they can fit into a system. But accessing who is the best option available is by looking at what they are doing.

He starts for Porto good for him. But remember Iheanacho, Iwobi and Sadiq Umar have started a couple of games for City, Arsenal & Roma respectively yet they are nt yet being considered d best options for d Super Eagles.

Playing for d national team is quite different from playing for club.

In the game against Egypt if u were d coach u'll start Awaziem at Centre back and Ehizibue at right back?

It is nt out of place Rating d likes of Mohammed, Odubanjo, Ehizibue and Awoziem against other U23 Players like Madu,Amuzie, Omeruo, Troost-Ekong, Seth & Shehu Abdullahi. If the former mentioned Players would find it difficult displacing d later mentioned players then what are we talking abt?

My view is this bunch of players are promising and talented bt i cannot consider them as d best options for which ever position dey play.

Below is my best option for d Super Eagles defense for our next 2 games:

Balogun..Ambrose..Omeruo..Madu/Echiejile.

Ambrose and Balogun may switch positions in another option of set-up. I dnt believe Awaziem is yet a best option from amongst d centre backs we have in d team. Awaziem can b sent an invitation bt i dnt expect him to play a major role in d Egypt game even if invited.

Awaziem commands a starting position in the heart of defense which is the most risky place to start a youngster for a regular champions league team. It is not the same with Iheanacho, Iwobi or Umar. Iheanacho based on his form is also good enough for the super eagles but Ighalo is the most prolific striker right now.

It is one thing to be good enough and another to be thrown into a competitive game on your debut. You need to get used to your teammates and style of play but based on current form and regular game time, Nigeria's back four should be:

Ehizibue Balogun Awaziem Uwa

Young, pacy and would get better playing together.

I am not saying the next game but invite them, see how they do in training and gradually ease them in.

I think Awaziem is good enough for the Super Eagles, talkless of the Olympics. Defending for Porto is a big deal and that tells a lot of the talent of the young man.

Coach Siasia should invite him to camp and see if he is good enough to blend with the team.

Remember Coach Keshi and a young teenage Omeruo. The young man did not take time to blend and he displaced one of the longest serving defenders and the Captain of the Super Eagles.

I am nt saying they should nt b invited. Remember d discusion is on " best options" for the defense.

In as much as we all want to see a transition of some of these young players into d Super Eagles throwing them in all at once would only spell doom for d team and players. Remember Nigerians are nt patient pple.

My argument is Awaziem deserves a call up to d Super Eagles. However i will nt consider him a best centre back option for d Super Eagles yet.
U cannot label a player hu has nt made a debute as best option especially in a central defensive role.

He can only b introduced into d frame of things and watch how he adopts and grows. subsequently we would know if he is d best option in that Centre Back.

I am nt dwarfing his achievement as a young player. He is still comming up. However, my pt is a young player that has never tasted senior international action can never b a best option. Same goes for Mohamed and Ehizibue.

Yes bt Omeruo was nt labeled "best option" until he played a couple of matches. That is jst my point.

Awaziem, if called up should prove to us he is d best option at centre back. Nt before he makes his international debute.

U can for now only say he has d potential of becoming a best centre back option and nt that he is already our best centre back option even without any invitation yet.

The Olympics in my opinion would b a good testing ground for him.

If he outperforms our other defenders in training, then he deserves the starting line up. That is one of the mistakes coaches make. Most times, the talented ones progress the teams and the experienced ones pull the team back.

If he is good enough, Awaziem is old enough to start.

Discussed him as a possible call-up to the Super Eagles (though that's unlikely to happen now) on the Super Eagles thread as one of my "long-shot" current form-only top 5 for our defence.

Truth is this: Based on current form, Awaziem is truly in the Top 3 of Nigeria's best centre backs in Europe, CAPPED OR UNCAPPED.

Who are the other two?? Without a doubt, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo.

But still, A Super Eagles call-up is highly unlikely ahead of the Egypt games. Let's see what thursday (unveiling of the list) brings.

Awaziem...... Don't forget the name..... #smiles
