What you all couldn't understand is "they weren't native speakers of English". Also, they were so passionate about their own winning the match.

I wasn't really interested in the commentary but the game.

We just have to be focused on Tuesday. Surely, we'll win 3-2. Egypt were quite lucky yesterday.

ya that's true...he was like "it will be on record that today the 25th of March Alex Iwobi is making his first debut for Nigeria in a competitive match"
Are you dreaming? He had played two competitive friendlies for Nigeria sir.

Sir you gat nathing to focus against Egypt at their own home. They are going for draw. Nigeria missed the chance to honour the thousands of fans that came to cheer them up. It was unlike nigerians yesterday, the way they showed up yesterday.

haha, they always try to double up as coach...once Ahmed Musa misplaced a pass and he said "that's not the Ahmed Musa we know, he should have cross"

Lol!!! They should just allow them watch the game silently and with their biasness like thousands of other Nigerians. They have become nuisances!!!

Nice thread, bro!!!

Draw? No. Egypt are beateable at home. The match hasn't finished yet and we'll hurt them in Cairo. Siasia plays much better away.

The commentators were saying something about Nigerian airways and Egypt airways when 9ja and Egypt free kicks went very high above the goal post. They were just like always, too unprofessional

Seems like you were one of the commentators comedians from yesterday's game.

A piece of advice for you, Sir. Give us commentaries, not comedy. No one needs you to make light of a serious match like that. And even if you must crack jokes, do it very well!!!

Play stay off my audio on Tuesday!!! God bless you!!!

U missed d worst part i e "iwobi is making his first debut for super eagles" when he said this I made him d man of d match grin grin grin

wink . First debut . Someone made such blunder ? Why is it that many sports commentators have poor diction ? They are supposed to be professionals.
I used to remember those days. A commentator will say, "Emmanuel Amokachi with the ball." "That was a rising header"

The one that got me laughing was "after wining this match, the Egypt we see today, we shall see them no more" are they not suppose to comment on both teams performance?? At times they will give a free kick the guy go call am throwing, later correct himself. No professionalism fr their work. See fans self, see as they full stadium like say na world cup final. Where are the talented footballers on the street?? Go and get them

When the Egyptian number 9 was substituted, our dear commentator called him ineffective!

I begged my neighbor to kill the volume of the tv, but he wouldn't.

Okay firstly I'd like to express my dismay at the poor diction and obvious lack of requisite knowledge Nigerian commentators portray in our NPFL matches and international matches vs other countries.

And secondly why are Nigerian commentators always expressing their support for the Nigerian side? what happened to just giving a fair commentary like it's done in foreign matches i watch on t.v?? you hear statements like "our" boys are playing well.

This lackluster unprofessional show of mediocrity did not start today but the commentator for today's match vs Egypt was very annoying, i mean it irked me so bad i had to volume down the t.v. but on a second thought i felt i should listen and laugh at his dumbfoundness.

As i kept watching the match, i wasn't satisfied with just listening and laughing so i started documenting (yep it was that bad).

So for those of you that didn't watch the match and those that were too angered to listen to the commentary, here are the one's i picked. Enjoy!

*The game is looking 3 points for the super eagles...really??
*Ogene Caro slide the Egypt number 11 and the ref says play on so If he likes he can lie down for the rest of the game....isn't this partial and rude to the opponent??
* As the captain of the side he would get up....(he said this when Mikel was fouled)... so only captains can get back to their feet after being fouled??
* A kick and a yellow card to....to...(trying to check for the players name but probably didn't find it)...to...(then he realised he could just say the country's name)...to Egypt
*Ogene trying to find his man...As it is this time or that time it did not work...
* As it is now the Egyptians would be satisfied going home conceding all 3 points to the super eagles...who told him that??
* He didn't need to do that a goal would still give us 3 points...showing preference and disrespecting the opponent again (this happened when an Egyptian defender cleared out Moses' golden chance to double the lead)
* We have 3mins to play and if you do 3min by 60 seconds we have 180seconds...the eagles should not slip up...d eagles should not slip up...oh! the Egyptians have equalized!

So there you have it, our joker of a commentator. Add up the one's i missed

Yea totally. They played beyond my expectations especially in the 2nd half...Moses threw away a golden opportunity to double our lead but my annoyance is mr. clown who was commenting rubbish

Oh, I miss Jon Champion and Peter Drury...These guys know their onions to the extent that SONY had to use their voice for soccer on PlayStation..

Anytime these guys comentate on any EPL matches its always fun, insightful, informative and entertaining...

You will hear commentaries like, say Sanchez just score, magical, sensational; if it's a classic goal at die minute, Jon will shout staggering, just staggering..etc

Nigerian commentators should go and learn. Commentary is key in any game if viewers are to enjoy and feel the vibe in the stadium.

No sir, they are not being lackadaisical about their jobs, i feel they are on a learning process and they will get better too. John Champion never got it right at first. There are better and more respectful ways of correcting them if that's what you intended to do than to bring them on a social media like this(lets protect ourselves, no b only Nigerians dey nairaland). Whatever happens to Nigerians and Nigeria, you ain't left out. Nobody knows it better sir. Goodmorning boss

dude you can't just decide to be lackadaisical about your job simply cos you get paid whether you do it right or wrong else what's the point?
