The best is for you to do it yourself don't patronise agent, Also research for schools that match you educational profile and write GRE and any English test
How much do they cost with this present naira to dollar thing. To get GRE and English Test done. And are they compulsory for all universities in the u.s??
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 9 by youngmoney416: 3:40pm On Jun 10, 2016
You can't get scholarship without getting admitted. Your gpa and test will be used to determine if you will be given scholarship. So you you need to write the test and submit all required documents before you talk of scholarship. PEACE
Vanillaskin:
Hi all, I just joined Nairaland due to the wealth of information available here. Allow me to go straight to the point.
I plan to do my masters in the US and I'm hoping to get a scholarship but I'm not sure about the steps to follow.

I have already applied to my school of choice and this is the email they sent to me below:

Dear Vivian,

Thank you for your application to Sacred Heart University's. Your application will be considered by the Admissions Committee once all your credentials have been received in the Office of Graduate Admissions.

To date we have not received the following:

College Transcript
Non-refundable Graduate Application Fee
Recommendation - First Letter
Recommendation - Second Letter
Resume
Bank Statement or Financial Guarantee
Copy of Passport
TOEFL or IELTS Score

You may log into your admission's portal to upload supplemental documents Click here to access the portal.

If your $60 non-refundable application fee is listed as outstanding above, you can submit payment online at http://graduate-appfee.sacredheart.edu .

If you have any questions about the status of your application, please contact me.

Sincerely,

So now from this email I believe I should start preparing to take the IELTS exam and since they didn't ask for GMAT then no need to take that.

Now my problem is since they need me to provide "financial guarantee" can I go ahead and apply for a scholarship? Or will I only be able to apply for a scholarship after I have been given the admission?
Please I need help, I'm new to this. Thanks.

You check GRE and toefl/ielts website to get the cost and convert it back to naira if you paying online yourself..

Not all universities but most universities asked for it but make sure you write anyone in order to add to your chances.

UTEP is ok. Though UTA is of a better standard. Admission rate is 99%. So they always admit. Tution is about 18,000$. But I will try TAMU if I were you. You authomatically qualify to pay instate tuition which is 7000$ and it's well ranked. But I'm terms of cost of living, Elpaso is very affordable.

Wow. 99.9% acceptance rate. Why is that? Nobody dey go that side?

Probably because El Paso is very hot and it's the end of US.

Why did you change your initial post to "L", hope it's not for learner. If you're serious about getting a PhD admission then you've proven yourself visa worthy on the part of your credential. So, go with no fear and prove yourself to the VO. Best.

Bro., welcome to the State of Wisconsin - America's Dairyland. You will love it. Stout is also a great school in the University of Wisconsin system. I don't know much about Menomonie, but my guess is that you will have a great time there. Anytime you want to breeze into Madison, don't hesitate to let me know. On, Wisconsin!

Bro thanks so much... Will PM you to get some basic infos on how to plan my itinerary.

WOW , even with a FULL GA and a successful approval .

[s]I guess that why some people are hesitant to post their transcript . You never know which NIV VO is lurking around .[/s] Although I dont know the reason for denial so till then the reason for denial is speculation . Or was the GA offer not stated on the i20 document ? but a missing information is different from rejecting based on to ties .

if it was me, if after a week or two i get no response via email , I would book another interview and go find out what the issue is or re present myself for another interview .

This is not even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. NIV vos don't come here to cross match interviews or to make decision for visa application. Have you ever wondered why they don't give you your passport and visa immediately after your interview? Not because they don't have the printer or electricity or staffs to do it. After your interview, they have time to do some more administrative work on your case. If anything is found wrong after your interview or even when you get to US, the initial positive outcome can be overruled. Green card, which is more scrutinized than any visas has thousands of real live transcripts everywhere online. No one has ever come forward to say they got denied green card after sharing interview.

Nope sir, am not using a fake statement of account. I intend using my dad's statement of account. All i seek for is people's opinion without involving an agent. I know the prerequisites for filling an application. Apply to the school, send your transcripts, application fee, i-20, interview Toefl, gmat etc...blah blah blah...My question is can i go through this on my own??
Absolutely yes.

If he was approved at the window and later refused, your friend was also informed of the reason. Just because you tell the truth today doesn't mean you can escape the lies of your past. It's purely speculation as we don't know the details of this specific case, but maybe he had applied with a false name and date of birth in the past - it happens.

He was approved on the window but got the for 214b when he went to get his passport from DHL. That was his second interview however...He was denied the first time for a reason he believed was because the VO wasn't convinced he's heading to US for studies...That time, he filled his uncle as a sponsor. He defiled his admission and then got full funding scholarship and so, he changed his sponsorship to scholarship + uncle. Besides that, he practically didn't make another change when filling out the ds160 form for the second interview
