Do you have your i-20 document?
Are the funds specified there?
You can pay the SEVIS fee at Seme border or you
can ask a friend or relative in the US to help you pay.
In completing the DS-160 form, just be careful and truthful with
information you provide there.

Yea. The funds are specified on the i20. Can i pay sevis fee before completing the d-160 form? I used to think it was d-160 first then i get a coupon (whatever that means) to pay i20.. Im new at this

@nairasea23, thank you very much. So this means i can pay sevis fee before completing the d-160 form? Yea i was told by lots of people that im very lucky. Only 31 intl admitted out of about 500 applicants. Im also a bit jittery about interview. Like will i be favoured more or less since its a full tuition? (i read usa love intl students cause of much expense). Then i also read they love smart people and hardly deny visa to students on fullride. So what do u think

It's normal to be a bit jittery. But try not to loose your confidence. I will advise you to hold on to everything until you get your corrected I 20. However paying of I 20 doesn't depend on DS 160. Full scholarship is an additional advantage but be ready to explain why you worth it. Don't go and tell them you are lucky. Did you write SAT? Hope your score was ok? And good waec result? Because those are the things you can use to defend the scholarship. Go tru this thread atleast from part 7...

Not sure about that. Others can answer that.

Bro, I saw one person wet been post say we fit get active VO prowling on this thread na why me I comot am jare!

1) is your nairaland id the same as your surname and first name?
2) Did you record your previous interview with video camera?
3) Were you asked by the embassy to sworn oath that you will never say anything to anyone about your interview, not even your friends/family?

If you answered No to any of the questions above, disregard all those baseless insinuations. They are all fallacies. It's true that VOs come here but it got nothing to do with your previous denial or your new application.

He was approved on the window but got the for 214b when he went to get his passport from DHL. That was his second interview however...He was denied the first time for a reason he believed was because the VO wasn't convinced he's heading to US for studies...That time, he filled his uncle as a sponsor. He defiled his admission and then got full funding scholarship and so, he changed his sponsorship to scholarship + uncle. Besides that, he practically didn't make another change when filling out the ds160 form for the second interview

Your denial is not far from your DS160 and/or your records at the embassy.

You can go ahead and pay your sevis fee cos your Sevis id on the i-20 won't change..
It takes 2 business days after your payment goes through before the embassy can confirm your sevis fee payment.
I don't think there's any particular order.

Hello, do you know if GTB has stopped their Savings Account ATM/Debit Cards from making international payments/forex transactions? I have a Corporate Account, and they have stopped my Debit cards from making international payments/forex transactions since last year. I am thinking of opening a GTB savings account.

jatsay001:
I followed your instruction, I went to diamond bank and they told me that they stopped using their atm for international payment since 17th May 2016.

GTB said I can use it and they told me that I should move my money from Saving Account to Current Account which I did immediately. Thank God, I just booked my flight with my current GTB account. Thanks

Hi. Congratulations on your admission to UNTHSC. Can you please send me an email, I'm currently at UNTHSC for my Masters Program as well.

dellapi2:
Hello guys. Got my visa approval today at the Lagos consulate, 6.30am batch. My interview was very very short. smiley grin. Met the female V.O in window 3.
Got to the consulate by 5.45am and met a lot of people outside. Joined the queue for the nonimmigrant visas. Got inside and did my biometric verification. Subsequently joined the queue for the V.Os as we waited for them. They eventually arrived at 7.30ish. I was the second person to be interviewed by the V.O. A lot of F1 visas were issued before my turn.
Our conversation was as follows:
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning ma'am
Asked me to pass her my passport, i20 and sevis receipt which I did

VO: What are you going to the US for ( started typing and glancing through my I 20 intermittently)
Me: I am going to the University of North Texas Health SC for my masters in public health and will be majoring in environmental health (she nodded as she kept typing)
VO: What would you do when you return?
Me: I intend to work for the ministry of health in order to reduce the disease burden in Nigeria. Our country is ranked among the highest with the incidences of diseases of public health significance such as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/aids.
VO: Where do you work currently?
Me: Told her my current job as a medical officer under the dept of public health.
VO: Who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My mom. Told her my mom's job. Also told her I have some personal savings. (She nodded and kept typing all the while)

VO: Your visa has been approved... Hands me the white paper and my I 20 and sevis receipt.
I thanked her and left.

Honestly I was prepared for a lot more than this. No documents asked. No travel history though I have a schengen visa in my passport. I feel those guys are really eager to issue visas to students.
Thank you so much guys for this thread. I really learnt a lot. And I also think the 6.30 am batch is really good. I had to reschedule from 11 to 6.30am when I saw other people's transcripts. Above all trust and believe God. It's all by His Grace.

Also, they wrote Nimasichi instead of Nmasichi on my i20 though other documents had the right spelling. I have emailed them but no reply yet. Advice please. Thank you

Wow congrats. Great school. They give all students full tuition waiver. What about living expenses though? Yeah, get them to correct the name. They will, its no big deal just that it's probably peak period for the people that issue I-20s.

You can pay Sevis fee if you have your sevis number and school code written on your I20 before filling ds160..

The coupon payment will be generated for you after submitting your sevis fee payment form and the coupon code is what will be use to help you pay Sevis fee via western union or money order payment method

You need a bank statement because Berea college only offer tuition scholarship but you ve got room and board and also health insurance to pay for
So bro, you need a bank statement.
You can request a new i-20 for correction of your name.

I pondered how that is possible then i went to Wikipedia and saw they have an enrollment of like 300 student size. .... congrats although never heard of the school .

Just take a bank statement with you to show you can covers maintenance fee(if accommodation is not covered ) and have the i20 corrected . Make sure the i20 specify that is tuition is covered
They have a good support from their alumni

Good day everyone, please I just got admission an MBA to St Clouds state university and I got my I20 but on my I20, the program length says 36 months but on the school website MBA should be completed in 16 months. When I mailed the graduate cordinator she said they normally put 36 months for MBA in case I'd like to differ some courses or Incase I decide not to take some courses at a point in time. All in all she said the program length on the I20 is giving me enough time to finish my MBA course in case of unforeseen circumstances, even though I intend to finish the program in 16months.
My problem now is how do I explain to the VO that I'll be doing MBA for 3years? It's usually 2 years or less and I don't know if I am to put 16 months or 36 months on my DS 160.
Can someone please advice me . Your response would be appreciated.

Have you ever considered telling the TRUTH!

Why is your first thought or reaction to make up a story and lie to the visa officer?
You have an explanation in writing from your school, present that!
You stand more chance of a rejection by lying than by telling the truth. Visa officers are trained to look out for liars.
