You didn't post the name of the school for personal reasons?. You don't want people to come and occupy the space meant for only you yea? Or you don't want them to take back their scholarship due to large number of applicants that may wanna seek for scholarship after you tell us the name of the school... Mtschew QueenID: 7 Likes |
You are welcome. My 2 cents on this matter goes thus: As a first time traveller be neutral in your submissions. Be firm in response and not overbearing or abusive. The first check you will get is the airline staff. Some are prone to ask stupid questions like where are you going? What is your purpose and all.. Kindly restate its none of their biz and ask them to check you in and move on. Next is customs, try not to carry banned items or those in liquid form so you do not have a problem. Stand your ground that you will not drop a dime. Next is the immigration checkpoint which is where passports are tendered. Do not look at them directly, pose an air of non chalance, to show you care not about what he does and answer questions firmly. Do not allow them bully you. After you are done some ndlea and sss officers usually gather at the point of leaving the immigration counter, some will demand to see your passport. They do not have the right. Be firm in making them understand that. Drug agents are not empowered to stop and harrass. That's what the immigration official is for. Yellow card isn't needed to board a flight to the US. The issues of pta or bta also concerns no immigration official as long as you have a visa you can board a flight without any issue. The issue arises at the point of entry however, because it is expected that you have 1000$ to cover contigencies. Should anyone attack you over this they do not have the right. It is not their duty but rather that of those at the point of entry.. Lastly if you are going to atlanta abeg don't book houston ticket and expect angel zebrudayah to clear the way for you. Try as much as possible to get tickets to a neighbouring state with a connecting local flight or bus pass to your final destination. I did this by buying aticket to chicago and booked a bus pass for michigan, grand rapids slated for the next day as my flight lands by 9:45 pm local time. Lastly please do not carry foodstuffs as if the national research institute needs them for pharmacology purposes, this usually causes delays at point of entry and in most cases secondary examination. A case in point is that of mine in Istanbul few years back and also at Vnukovo airport. From then I decided carrying food from one continent to the other should majorly be the job of migrating birds. I hope this epistle has helped. See ya all on the other side (I mean Amelika o not heaven)[/]oga mi sir.. I can see you're ready to miss your flight.. Those sss and ndlea guys will ask to see your passport and it won't cost u anything to show them unless you want them to waste your time.. Biko just answer their yeye questions and do as you're asked... No be today police dey do road safety work, That should not be a time to claim right |

This thread is fast turning to an e-fight thread, straying from the purpose for which it was created. Guys, sheath your swords. We all need to learn to ignore. When a conversation is getting out of hand turning into an altercation, silence is the best. Being silent does not portray foolishness or cowardice. It helps to avoid further mess. What's even the point of fighting on a faceless forum? We all aim to come study in the US, but I must warn that matters like this (exchanging words during an altercation can put one in trouble). I witnessed a similar experience at my work place on campus just few days ago. I walked into my work section as my shift commenced and met two other co-workers (black guys) exchanging words. Work pressure at that time apparently told on them. Although they never went physical, they were obviously furious at each other and they talked so fast that it became difficult for me to clearly hear what they said. I spoke to both of them to calm down. While one did the other kept on talking and stoked another fire. It was getting out of hand. I had to call the manager. To cut the story short, on top 'ordinary' altercation, as the only witness (note that I met them exchanging words so I didn't know the root course of the issue) I gave a verbal statement on 2 different occasions to the Manager and another Oga, a written statement on another occasion, and on Tuesday again I was called up by one of the Vice Presidents (Deputy VC) of the school to come and relay what I witnessed. The guy who kept on talking happens to be a Senior in the undergraduate level. He was fired! Now his studentship is on the line. The VP told me she may call on me again. My point is this: We should drop our 'fights' and muscle flexing at the MMIA or wherever in Nigeria before boarding the plane. 6 Likes 1 Share |

The truth is that we Nigerians can be very superstitious. There's nothing we can do about it. Plus it's human nature to try get as much as possible while giving away as little as possible. I think we have all made it clear that that behavior is detrimental to the purposes of this thread. However I trust we still have enough non superstitious people on this thread to keep it going. As an aside...most people attribute their interview successes to God's grace. So this is a question to them: Doesn't God's grace cover you even if you post your school details in your transcript? Or does God's grace evaporate when you post your transcript, then He turns you over to the witches and wizards? It seems a lot of us are more scared of witches and wizards than we fear God. 2 Likes |

I hope I am not about to reopen a healing wound but I don't know why I feel angelapinkytoes never meant to truly scam anybody. I know most of my pals here: halidaf, bobority, gunther, slimmy, oludare, imperioux et al will definitely disagree with me on this but I think I'm a good judge of character. She seemed a bit flamboyant and perhaps was playing to the gallery a bit too much but I strongly doubt she is a scammer. Except she's of the femme fatale nature. Oh well, maybe I neva jam sha. 2 Likes |

slimmy2005: I used to think the blacks were the major cause of the problem but with recent happenings and digging a bit deeper, I'm not too sure anymore. America seems to have some serious race issues still. But that's probably the least of an F1 visa holder's concerns. 1 Like |

The only person who has are the ndlea guys and its cus they asked for ndlea clearance last time I travelled. Its good to insist on your right and not be trampled on. Let people know the right thing to do. I am not saying fight them. Sir am sorry if my words have offended you sir.

|

dickoflife: Omo I feel you o. And I believe that's actually the best way. But if it's just to show them your passport I think you can just humor them. Also since they are SSS they can actually cause a lot of problems and probably have the right to inspect people. You know some naija laws are not well defined. When are you leaving? |
