Also how foreigners are treated, Pls i will also like if you can mention a few very good institutions for MSc studies and how one can go about applying.

@magribis,

okay. Turkey has more than 90 reputable universities located across the states. one of the mega and metropolitant cities of turkey is ISTANBUL and the capital is called ANKARA
ISTANBUL
is a fascinating city built on two Continents, is one of the greatest cities in the world where you can see a modern western city combined with a traditional eastern city, it's a melting pot of many civilizations and different people. Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and one of the major cities of the world.

There are over 90 universities in Turkey, out of which 2/3 are State and 1/3 are Private. All of these universities are controlled by YOK, "Yuksek Ogretim Kurumu" or Council of Higher Education. Private universities tuition fees are much higher than State universities.There are 29 universities in Istanbul; 7 of them are State and 22 are Private.

here is a list of universities in Istanbul, in alphabetical order:

1. Arel University
2. Aydin University
3. Bahçesehir University
4. Beykent University
5. Bilgi University
6. Bilim University
7. Bogaziçi (Bosphorus) University (State)
8. Dogus University
9. Fatih University
10. Galatasaray University (State)
11. Haliç (Golden Horn) University
12. Isik University
13. Istanbul Technical University (State)
14. Istanbul University (State)
15. Kadir Has University
16. Kemerburgaz University
17. Koç University
18. Kültür University
19. Maltepe University
20. Marmara University (State)
21. Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (State)
22. Okan University
23. Ozyegin University
24. Piri Reis University
25. Sabanci University
26. Sehir University
27. Ticaret (Commerce) University
28. Yeditepe University
29. Yildiz Technical University (State)

some of these universities use Turkish as medium of instruction while many use English.
if you like busy city that has everything like metro bus, train, good night life and humid weather then you can choose ISTANBUL for your university cos is very close to many other European cities and Asian cities. Although Istanbul is more expensive just like Lagos is more expensive compare to leaving in zamfara state cos of many sight seeing in lag so as Istanbul.

there are many universities in Istanbul that offer many courses and use English as medium of instruction and highly reputable and accredited by EUA. like Bogazici university and istanbul tech university etc. www.boun.edu.tr and www.itu.edu.tr.
the tuition fees for istanbul tech university for MSC is 1020dols/year and that of bogazici is 620dols/semester.

Also you can check a very good university in ANKARA called middle east technical university. www.metu.edu.tr all the above mentioned universities have any course you might want to study in this world. so can check their site and see things yourself.
living expenses is low in turkey and for racism is in every where in this world including NIGERIA( niger delta, hausa killings, boko haram, christian -muslim marriages, all these are form of rasicm). even in AMERICA. so it is the degree that matter most. in Turkey they have low degree cos for me nobody has beaten me for once and none of my friends have once complained or may be becos i speak a bit of turkish but racism is minimal anyway no wala.

for you to apply for MSC , you need to present either GRE or GMAT score for entrance. if you are coming next year feb , then you need to apply for either of these exams and submit your application as soon as possible. Most schools own by Government are cheap and rang around 1000$ upward.
There are a lot of pple in Istanbul and turkey becos its an industrialized nation, far far industrialized more than many European countries , so there are jobs here especially for science oriented student but for the job to be easier you need to speak Turkish, just like when you are in the North of NIGERIA you need to speak Hausa to make things go well. But if you find yourself in multinational company you don't need to speak any language, BUT JOB GENERALLY HAS TO DO WITH YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND GOD AND LUCK anywhere in this world.
am sure i have tried to give you what you requested for.

Re: North Cyprus by wip2: 4:28pm On Dec 21, 2009
@Baba kunle,

which side are you going? if is nicosia (north cyprus), i prefer you to say off campus cos is more cheaper but with less facilities like the on campus. for example in CIU on campus is around 150dols/month while you can get nice apartment with almost the same facilities around CIU at 70dols or less.
if it is off campus , you can only arrange that when you arrive at the skool after your registration. you will be allow to stay for like 5days at skool dorm on arrival to write English proficiency exam and ur reg. then at off camous you get one other [erson to share room with you but you cant turn it into family house like wat pple do in lag. here your landlord can lock you uo wen you breach the contract.
about job, there is possibility for you to get job especially wen you know sombody already in north cyprus that can arrange for you , it wont be a problem. secondly, u can get job urself if u no be a lazy man watin for job to come and meet u in your room. aspa the least pay, i cant really say but i have heard pple getting like 10dols per hour while a lady at Gamazuga get 60dols per hour that one depends on your luck and God. Also it will be much easier for you to get job wen you have your work permit and the pay is high with work permit so when you arrive immediately after your reg try get the work permit cos they will give you the permit based on what you have in your school account or your bank account.
which skool are you admitted to?

Re: North Cyprus by Babakunle1: 12:56pm On Dec 23, 2009
CIU,@ North cyprus

thanks once again
Re: North Cyprus by wip2: 3:57pm On Dec 23, 2009
@baba kunle,
if it is CIU , no problem about the visa it is 100% sure when your documents are complete and correct and legal.
you need these and some other stuff for the visa
1. your acceptance letter
2. Receipts of payment of atleast 1900euros from CIU
3. your attested documents
4. tax clearance
5. bank statement
6. CAC letter/letter of incorp
etc
have you gotten the admission ? if yes scan to my email if now what remains?
Re: North Cyprus by Babakunle1: 11:33am On Dec 26, 2009
Thanks, can you send me your e-mail asap. dont forget i will be counting on you for the accommodation, if possible a job
Re: North Cyprus by Babakunle1: 11:42am On Dec 26, 2009
The registration will take place on 8th of February, the proficiency exam will be held on 16th of February, and the lectures will start on 22nd of February.  The tuition fee per semester is €1.984 (Euros).

Thatz what the school told me, i still imagine if the tuition is 4 the whole session of just for a semester
Re: North Cyprus by wip2: 10:53am On Dec 28, 2009
@baba kunle,
check my posts you will find my email there.
secondly the skool (CIU) can never tell you that tuition fees per semester is 1984euros. The whole year tuition is 3000euros with 30% discount fees for international students making it 2700euros and to make a deposit of 1500euros plus VAT + reg fees making it 1984euros. after your first semester before starting second semester you are to pay the remaining money.

secondly, why will you be counting on me for the accommodation? you asked me which is preferable : off campus or on campus . i said off campus is a bit cheaper with less facilities but you can at least stay on campus for the first semester to get familiar with the environment . PLS PLS am not a landlord in Cyprus ooo or house agent.

lastly, why counting on me on the job again have i mentioned to anybody here that i work with labor department in Cyprus , that i can get anybody job ?? also i am in turkey not Cyprus i have only lived at Cyprus before and the nature of my job makes me to know alot about schooling and traveling in Cyprus.

send the copy of your adm letter to skull4una@gmail.com anyway when you come over i will see how i can help since i have bin there for sometime but is not as if am giving you 100% assurance ooo but God will do am.

have received your message. i have replied you also. read carefully.

@baba kunle,
dont worry bro, i will advise you to concentrate on your studies first. definitely you will get a job to help your financial level when you get to Cyprus but when you put that in your mind first your expectation may deter your focus. i cant promise anybody heaven and earth cos you might reach heaven and find out is hell vice versa.

MESSAGE FOR INTERESTED FELLOWs

To study in Turkey for MSc you need to write either GRE or GMAT and send the score within the application period of each school. The Minimum GRE score required is 610 (quantitative section) and GMAT is 450. anything below these scores will not be accepted by any university in Turkey.
The GRE/GMAT can be written anytime in a month after you book your exam date. The quantitative and verbal sections scores can be seen after the exam that day cos is computer based exam while the analytical part takes almost 3weeks to get to your chosen institution. Bogazci university, Middle east technical university etc conduct all their programs in English in turkey and the school fees range is 650dols /per semester for MSc program. If you have a good Bachelor Result you can apply for PhD straight in Turkey.

For Undergraduate courses, the applicants need to submit SAT score if not you cant be accepted or yos exam is conducted in Abuja in Nigeria. alos the fees is in that range.

so without the above examinations you cant enter any university in turkey, you can apply to Cyprus cos they do not request for such exams and after your first or second year you can transfer to turkey if you must study in turkey.

Also, Hotel and tourism management is a flourishing course in Cyprus and turkey, even most schools pay student around 600euros per month as internship fees for studying the above mentioned course.

Application into south Cyprus for feb entry is already closed while North cyprus application will be close by January 10 for most school.

@ joxiri,

Even if you finish from Heaven University in Heaven you must present GRE/GMAT for postgraduate studies or other exams like ALES to get admitted into any Turkish university. Even if you have first class upper you must score minimum of 610 in quantitative section to be admitted.

You know in Nigeria , one must write jamb to get admitted or IJMB so thats Turkish rule also.
