Good news everyone. Got an email from UofToronto that I am not accepted due to competition.
Thank God for I applied to UofCalgary.

By God's grace, UofToronto is still on my PhD list alongside Harvard, Calgary, etc. I will apply as domestic student then by God's grace.

To prospective students, always have a back up plan. cool

Dear .......,

The Graduate ........ Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for graduate work and we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you a position in our program at this time. Unfortunately, although we receive many impressive applications we are only able to admit a small number of students each year. An official decision letter will be mailed to you this week.

Thank you for considering the University of Toronto for graduate studies. We wish you well in all your future endeavours.

Sincerely,

Graduate Admissions
Department of ................
University of Toronto

Choi....thank God u have a good backup. I'm also expecting feedback from UofT and I'm scared stiff as I saw this post. My status has been on Decision made since I checked last week though I'm yet to receive any mail from them. I wrote to the general information handlers of SGS.

Did you secure a supervisor before applying to UofT just like you did for Calgary?

1. You shouldn't type in all capitals, if everyone did, this forum would be an eyesore.

2. In this forum detail is of utmost importance.
"my gpa is high" is vague and can easily be misleading. What exactly is your gpa?

3. 4000k is not a range.

4. You also haven't stated your credentials. Work experience, graduation year, etc.

5. @bolded you said you had one question only. But I don't see any questions. What is your question?

Update
You also don't need to repost it 3 times consecutively. You wrote in all capitals, it's hard not to see. I'm sure everyone can see it. Just be patient. When someone with requisite knowledge on the matter views it, you will get fair direction.

Don't let funds scare you out of not pursuing your dreams of masters study in Canada. If you have a high GPA as claimed then I advise you go for a thesis/research based masters which always comes with funding. It's tougher to get this type of admission because you need to both impress the admission committee of the department and also secure a research supervisor.
Follow these tips
1. Using google browse schools that offer your choice program in Canada and study the department's website carefully for entry requirements and availability of faculty members whose area of research you are interested in researching on.
2. Start off by writing to the selected faculty members a detailed mail as to why u want to work with them. Share your academic CV, transcript and any other of your published work so they have an idea of your past experiences. Write as many of them as possible until you secure one who is Willing to supervise you. Ensure you discuss funding with him too.
3. Repeat the process for as many as 3 schools so you don't put all your eggs inside one basket.
4. Apply to the schools online and wait for the admission outcome.
5. When admitted come back and the experts here will guide you on how to package your TRV application.

Note that some schools r very competitive compared to others so be sure to spread your applications between these two bands. Also start searching for a sponsor so as proof of sufficient fund is the real obstacle you may encounter in your own specific case. Though with full funding u may even be a self sponsor with as low as 1.5m in your account.

Don't be scared. Expect the best. Fear doesn't do us any good.

Write to your department/program coordinator.

Had three supervsiors, which include one very supportive one that helped reviewed my profile, with several suggestions. In fact, she suggested my profile to the remaining two and they said yes, and made their comment before i sibmitted.

I was worried I would disappoint her if I was offered and had to decline later. However, Toronto made things easy for me to decline any other offer that come now. cool

Thanking God all the way.

Note to prospective applicant: The fact that my app to Toronto wasn't successful doesn't mean yours won't, because, reviewing my application to them, I have no publication and that could have been the decision maker.
Submit a very good app with published papers. However, ensure you have good backup(s).

Wow....you really took time to package your applications this year. For me I don't have any supervisors in UofT. How do u think this will affect my application? It's stated on their site that international applicants will need to secure a supervisor that will guarantee their funding in case one isn't able to secure a research lab after the 3 rotations. So does this mean its possible I may be given a conditional admission (with the above condition to fulfill) and if that be the case will it pose a problem for TRV application.

Hello Bro.
i am sorry for your experience, i almost order for the GVC service. but with this i don't know what to say.

@justwise pls advice me. With N2m what can i achieve with my family as a student? i have a wife and 2 kids.
i was hoping to use GVC because of their Bank account assistance, i don't have a huge amount of cash i can retain in my account.
i am a graphic designer with over 15 years of work experience.
i would have applied to immigrate to Canada as artist under Self-Employed Program (no need of work permit) but the application fee and the processing time of 63 months are the issue

Processing fee ($1050) and right of permanent resident fee ($490) $1,540 N 354,200
Your application (without right of permanent residence fee) $1,050 N 241,500
include your spouse or partner Processing fee ($550) and right of permanent resident fee ($490) $1,040 N 239,200
Include your spouse or partner (without right of permanent residence fee) $550 N 126,500
Include a dependent child $150(per child) N 34,500(per child)

Don't you think this is expensive?

pla am open to any fast track suggestion .
thank you all

Hello house.

I have been following this thread for a while, and it has been helpful, kudos to the contributors.

I have applied to University of Saskatchewan and University of Regina. I believe my application to Usask was rejected because one out of my three referees didn't send his recommendation, and even the other two sent theirs' after the deadline. now I am left with just URegina, and I have a number of Questions.

1. How long does it take to secure admission at URegina.

2. Can I start visa processing with a conditional offer of admission.

3. Which other affordable schools are open for admission for MSc. Computer Science.

4. Do I still need to mail my Referees' Recommendation letters through currier to Regina, despite the fact that my referees have sent the recommendations through their official mails.

??

Thank you. As I hope, pray, and believe strongly that I will give my testimonies here too.
#peace.

Oga, not to discourage you, but no UofT we dey talk. Dem dey send out Reject like sey na Christmas gift.

Conditional admit to find a supervisor is very unlikely unless you're nothing short of exceptional. They don't lack good applicants with supervisor backing.

Honestly if they said you will need to secure a supervisor, then that's exactly what it is, the other details are just there to qualify the statement in case of exceptional situations.

But keep up the faith. I hope your field isnt extremely competitive.

Good day House, Please I am looking at pushing for Fall 2018 Admissions
UG: Civil Engineering
CGPA: 4.48
Prospective Graduate Course: Civil Engineering

Please, apart from the top schools that are ranked that offer full funding options, what other schools, from your experience, would you advice me to look at? I wouldn't just want to put all my eggs in a basket and apply for the top schools.

As regards the hunt for a supervisor, is it too early to stand hunting for one now?

Thank you.

No boss. For supervisors' hunt...there is no such thing as early. What is more important is what you are selling to these guys.
They receive tons of messages daily from "your rivals" too. So you need to be exceptional in your approach. Sell yourself.
Better still, put yourself in their shoes, what kind of email would you expect from a prospective applicant if you were a supervisor?

Also, you have a good grade as such I would suggest you try going for a research based masters. This atleast gives you a chance to be considered for funding and also lay a foundation for a phd if interested.

Finally, you have time before the fall 2018 application starts. I would devote 3 hours daily to do a school search(canada and everywhere) that fits my interests and contact the faculties, If I were you. But then you might have another approach.

Goodluck boss.

Brotherly, you are well on your way to canada if you can put finishing touches to your profile and application. A moniker here got her study permit with similar schoolarship and her tuition for 2 years is alittle higher than yours.

Your uncle just need to stand in as co-sponsor to you, include an affidavit of support as well as the account statement.

Geological sciences is related and applicable in the oil and gas field and since you have some work experience in the form of an intenship and currently undergoing an unpaid training in oil and gas too, your chances of an approval is quite high. So you need to add all the documents showing you have been busy in the oil and gas field since completion of undergrad. (training, intenship letters)

Family is one strong ties an individual can have in nigeria. If your family members are here, make sure you include them in the family information form, add their birth certificates if you can. The landed property will stand too as a tie to nigeria.

Finally, your application should be pretty straight forward as you have sufficient funds in a schoolarship and co-sponsorship. You have had previous and recent activity in the oil and gas field. Use your SOP to elaborate on the gains of your program upon completion and i assume the schoolarship body would have written on the letter that you will be expected to return home to use the knowledge to develop the Niger delta.

Part of your SOP should form statements surrounding that expectation and and other aspects of your career.

All the best in your application and endeavours. Regards.

Noted boss. Your response is well appreciated. And I will take care in explaining all that in my SOP. Thanks for you time. Will PM you soonest.
