Good evening VO
Please I need your assistance on this
While travelling to SA last year I had a stop over at Addis where I passed a night before flying to SA since I used Ethiopian air.
While filling the ds 160 form, should I list it as part of travel history or write "on transit" by it.
Please it's urgent
Thank you

Hello desrie. You posted this question on a different thread on this forum. You should be clear about what you want: opinions from anyone or facts from visa officers.

Hello Wine52. There is no ambiguity in the line you quoted. An aspiring applicant will be hard pressed to explain why they can not afford their proposed trip, and in such a case, what sort of ties they have that would compel a timely return.

If you were stamped in by Ethiopian immigration, then list that country as one you have visited. If you never left the airport, leave it out.

Dear VO.
My wife gave birth in the US twice with a visitor's visa.

She did the first Dropbox and was called in for an interview which she went for.

After a series of questions, she was asked for various receipts for payments made to the hospital and docrors which she presented.

The VO then asked for her old passport which was in her maiden name and asked her to resubmit both passports for a 2nd dropbox only for her to be denied the visa.

Now I ask, why the long procedure and she was eventually denied? Why didn't they just deny her either after the 1st dropbox and/or interview?

what are the likely reasons for her being denied the visa?

what are the chances of getting a visa now if she applies for a new one and begin the process afresh with an interview?

Warm Regards.

Hello Panama07. It usually takes several business days to process the visa and return the passport. Sometimes it takes longer. Give it a bit more time.

Hello jacksparow. We don't discuss individual cases in this forum, nor do we discuss chances. What I can say is that birth tourism is legal, provided the applicant is open about their intent (with the Embassy/Consulate and also CBP) and they are able to pay the full medical expenses. Honesty and credibility are paramount.

Hello banks101. Answer the question truthfully. It is not likely to be brought up at the interview.

Hello VO,
Great job you guys are doing here, keep it up.
Please has the duration status of 2yrs for b1,b2 visa for conference changed? Filling the ds 160 for my boss and needed to find out.
Secondly, can someone apply a visa for medical issues besides childbirth? And what are the requirements if it's for a surgical operation. Just need clarification on these. Thanks for ur anticipated response.

Regards.
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 12:45pm On Mar 21, 2017
Hello samcint. The B1/B2 visa covers conference attendance. For Nigeria, the visa is good for multiple entries for up to two years. The duration of each stay is determined by CBP, but is typically no more than six months. That said, no conference lasts six months, and it's difficult to believe that people with jobs can take off that long and survive in the United States without resorting to illegal employment. Birth and medical tourism have the same qualifications. You should be open and honest about your intent, have correspondence with medical professionals in the US, know what specific procedures you are seeking, and be able to pay your bills in full.

Hello VO,

Please I need answers to these questions sir/ma

1 : is it true that in most cases students visa applicant that have been petitioned for immigrant visa (but not yet current ) by their parents or family are denied visa ? In My case my mom just petitioned for me few months ago and it won't be current till 2024 or 2025 and I've just started my masters application.

2 : will applying to schools in the same state my mom lives be a problem for me at the interview ?
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by taiworhoda: 6:14pm On Mar 21, 2017
I think she was denied becos she never told the truth, she collected a visitors visa to go and give birth in d Usa twice. Things as changed now, trump as made everything changed so she should apply again when she wants to have her 3rd baby and she should be truthful. An so sure she will get it.
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 9:45pm On Mar 21, 2017
Hello Emmanuelson. A student visa (F1) is a type of non-immigrant visa. To qualify for a non-immigrant visa, the applicant must demonstrate sufficient ties to their home country such that they overcome the presumption of immigrant intent. Now, the act of applying for an immigrant visa is a clear demonstration of immigrant intent. So the challenge for such an applicant is to demonstrate that even though they have eventual intention to immigrate, they don't want to right now. This is not impossible, but it is a high hurdle.

Hello VO,

My wife just did a change of name and got a new passport. Her B1/B2 visa expired last year which had her maiden name. Can she do Dropbox to renew or must she go for an interview because of the change of name?

Thanks

Hello VO

I need to know the procedures in applying for a visiting visa for me and my mum. There is an event we are slated to attend by May. Forms to fill, visa fees and all that.

Thank you.

Helly enyfo7. If the visa has expired within the past 12 months, she would be eligible for dropbox. Send in both passports. It is still possible she will be called for an interview.
