The Minster of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Tuesday, explained the reason(s) Nigeria’s power situation is not as good as Niger and Benin Republic – countries Nigeria sell electricity to.

In his presentation at the Presidency Quarterly Business Forum, chaired by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the minister said Nigeria “sells the power in exchange for a guarantee that they won’t dam the rivers that sustain Kainji Dam.”

The forum was attended by members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Economic Management Team (EMT) led by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Niger river has an elevation in Niger and Benin Republic, geographically ok for them to construct the dam, if we allowed that, we wont have anything and Niger wont give us anything either.
I think Egypt and Ethiopia has a similar agreement on the Nile river. What do you know?

Whatever the togolese and benenoise have done to help channel water out of the dam or to keep it flowing, we have the capacity to do a 100 times over, so we can enjoy out total output, Instead of selling our generated output to them. It is not as if we are over serviced. simple logic, we sell to make money whereas we are starved.
If I need to tell Fashola or any government official what to do to make things work, then they do not deserve to be in government. if you choose to believe their craap then you are not ready for development.

The National Assembly particularly Senator Goje and Saraki are the ones that caused the problem. They made those countries threaten Nigeria just to embarass Minister Fashola!
