Sorry for the late response...
As per fuel economy, the Honda City wins here...

The Corolla is in the same league as Honda Civic (which is a bigger vehicle than the city).

The Honda City is in the same league as the Toyota Yaris.

hyundai Tucson SUV 2013 model; the gear is not selecting, the electrician said it's the sensor which he changed to a new one but yet it's still not selecting. What could be the issue?

question sir, did you at anytime experience a huge jerk at high speed before this happened? Did your gear indicator indicate being stuck in gear 4 when put in manual mode? Is it only engaging in reverse? Has your fliud ever being changed( and what was its condition? Black?) Do you hear whining noise when drive or reverse is selected and you rev the car?
Finally, you may need to scan the vehicle to ascertain the real cause... Pls let me know of any of these ever happened.

Yes the jerk at high speed happened while travelling,
it's stuck on gear 3 in manual mode,
yes it's engaging well in reverse,
the fluid has never been changed, the Mechanic checked its condition ad said it was ok.
There is no whining noise neither in drive nor reverse mode.
The vehicle was scanned and according to the electrician it was the gear sensor that was bad and he replaced it but the issue still persists.

Provide the gearbox serial number and post it here. This number can only be viewed when the air filter box is removed and it is etched on the gearbox casing. Check if it starts with FB or FA.
I might have a replacement at a very very good deal for you.

Oga guru, these analysis a bit pass my understanding oo. For instance how do you mean by defective intake manifold, stripped headbolts and suspension.

Meaning your shock absorbers and bushing go weak easily

Meaning the headbolts can come loose and your top cylinder will not clamp down properly

Meaning intake manifold can start to rattle like a tin can when you revv

Hello MotorGuru...good work you are doing here - Welldone.

I have just found out that a 2006 Acura MDX I picked sometime ago was flooded.

I have changed out the throttle sensor but still have general electrical issues - Ac not working and Audio susuyem not outputting sound.

I have been advised to change out the wire harnesses - any thoughts (parts availability and change out competence) about this change out ?

Thanks.

shocked

Hmm,

A very serious (and very expensive) problem you have here..
Not just wire harness, control modules may have been affected.
Throttle position sensor change will not solve the problem of the AC not working and radio not working.
You may have a faulty body control module and the unit that controls HV/AC and radio unit ( i think it is located under the front passenger seat)
may have been affected by the flood. Try locating and changing out that one first(does you car have navigation?)
Hope the engine and transmission are in good working order (very important)

You have to start anticipating rust and prepare for rust repair.

Very insightful comments MotorGuru - thanks.

I was just listing the known issues and not that the throttle issue was connected or informs the AC and audio problem. And as you have correctly said it is the throttle body that was changed.

Engine runs fine.

I was told about the AC and audio unit but I need a second opinion check.

Is a wire harness change out feasible/worth it? Rust is a big one...under the dash area and ofcourse the floor areas...so I suspect some wires and connectors will be having failing conductivity issues....so I need some thoughts on how to source wire harness parts (Oyingbo?) and competent car electrician.

Thanks again.

This may be an electrical issue. 50% of auto gear issues are external to it.
