Sorry for quoting u but due to this statement I read through your previous post and discovered that you didn't attend a Uni but self taught. For someone without educational certificate how did you manage to secure such a job that pays this high and who are the mates you are referring to sir? IT?

No problems man,

First: Em, I am world-class at what I do and at this point companies no longer see my lack of a degree as a minus. Secondly, the fact that I didn't go to school doesn't mean I stopped learning and can't take on a graduate from a good school. Also related, I have a huge experience doing what I do and have worked with a couple of international players, I have most likely worked on a product that you have used smiley. Fourth, Dubai doesn't have as much talent in this field, the reason they are looking at hiring experts from anywhere in the world.

Second: I was referring to people my age in Europe or the USA. It's a bad comparison tho, considering Dubai is not yet up to that standard. If I get a success mail from the USA company I applied to, I won't even bother going to Dubai.

I hope I answered your questions. I want to remain kind of anonymous on this forum, so I didn't go much into personal details. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be glad to help.

PS (General advice): Hustling smart I think is the key. Dubai is filled with people doing construction work or other unskilled jobs. You do not want to be the 9,001 person doing construction in Dubai. Rather you want to be one of the first few people in Dubai with an in demand and hot skill. This applies to any country you plan on migrating to.

Competition is brutal. You do not want to compete, you have to dominate.

Ex colleague of mine in Nigeria got offer from a company here in dubai and the pay was as much as 23k AED monthly with housing allowance and opportunity to make more than 15k AED as extra allowance. He is a technician with years of experience in the industry. The job was offered based on his expertise not certificate.

Thank you for this. If you know your onion, you will never settle for less. If the company didn't offer me the same salary they offer their other engineers, I would have worked away. It's that simple.

the table you are shaking ehn, maybe he sat for some engineering courses and all sort because he said he has a decade experience in engineering and to add to your contribution@travelland, he said and I quoted in the USA thread that he is in his early twenties which might be 23 to 26 yrs and based on what Mr gift said that he has a decade experience in engineering, I’m thinking he started at the age of 13 or so. I’m just analyzing not condemning Mr gift biography.

Almost accurate. I don't want to give any more private information grin. I guess some people have already started figuring who I am, I don't want that grin. Thank you.

Lol..see ehn, nobody is asking you for personal details. So no need to keep hinting at how you want to remain anonymous. Perhaps the best way to start wasn't about coming here to tell everyone "my company will pay me 23K" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you truly want to remain anonymous stop jumping upandan replying every Tom Dick and Harry. Focus on what you're here for..to get information, not to let us all your business.
My 2cents tho.

I was gonna say same. He's neither here nor there. 23k Job that we don't knw the company name, we don't knw the job type, we don't knw the city,...with such lucrative job offer, i believe he shud be more experienced than any1 here. Evrybody here is juz hustlers.

Once again, evry1 shud stick to what they earning oo,...and those that are still searching shudn't depend on any1 to land them any lucrative job.

Thanks. What exactly do you do?

Data Scientist and Machine learning guy. A Software Engineer, Writer and Tech Entrepreneur. My focus is mostly on tech.

Interested in learning any of this? You can use Coursera, Udacity, Udemy, edX, etc. EdX is really good, you learn for free from top universities like Harvard, MIT, etc. Although, if you need a certificate from them you have to pay about $100+.

Let me know if you have any other question smiley

Hey, I modified my post to include resources just in case you are interested in learning any of these things (just being helpful cause you sound curious).

It's not like it's 4 completely different things. They are kinda related. I could have also added digital marketing. Like I said in my post on the USA thread, I am an unschooler. I adapt and learn what I am curious about or what is necessary for me to stay relevant in the marketplace. I don't relax because maybe I studied X in school.

Second question: It is a software engineering position. But I guess my diverse background made me stand out.

The other question about the company, I might not be able to disclose for now. But you can quickly look up companies in Dubai or anywhere you are interested in and apply directly from their official websites. You should be able to identify a scam when you see one.

Have more questions? Shoot smiley

No offence was taken. I don't think so. I believe I might be able to help someone here by providing a few pointers. I also need help since I am trying to get my Dubai visa and I am not connected or familiar with the processes in Nigeria. The USA thread helped me prepare for my USA visa and I think this thread will also be helpful... Although, I am not a frequent Nairalander.

Thanks.

Abeg y'all should stop both prosecutors and the defendent, is heated argument about 23k job won't help anyone here, if you have answer to his question answer, and if you need him to gist you about the mouth watering (potential scam job) please find a way to connect with him privately.

There are people here with more pressing issues that need ever possible attention.

For the guy asking if he mist go to Abuja, my only reply to you is that the earlier you make your way to Abuja the better or risk Kalas while you still dah house.

You are right. From my personal experience, most high end companies here process your visa, book appointment in the Embassy in Nigeria from Dubai and you only walk in to the Embassy to get your passport stamped no hassle. They will book flight for you and even send Maraba to airport to welcome you. I experienced it my first time in Dubai. Notwithstanding, there are companies paying young Nigerians here more than 23k monthly. We should encourage the high end earner that decided to bring himself out . We need each other to grow here. He may share nice info that will help one or two person. But all the same, look before you leap. This thread is my favourite in Nairaland...you guys are the best
