i have worked as an ad-hoc inec staff during one of the election in the north. They have a way of doing their things. The party in power buys even other party agents who believe this is the only time to eat political money,all the agents will agree and Chanel all the votes to a particular contestant and share the money, it as an ad-hoc staff you refuse to go by their agreement, sorry will be your name, corpers only resisted this ugly trend in 2011 election,we all saw the results and how nysc members were treated all over in the north..... However, the facts of what truly happened in that polling booth is too sketchy to warrant the generalization by some people that a bribery crime took place. Again, the man clearly displayed his ID card and to the best of my knowledge, only INEC officials, party agents and accredited observers goes to election venue with some sort of ID. Even Buhari won't go to a polling unit with an ID card.

Nigerians like to suffer though. This thought pattern is completely flawed unless you are being mischievous which I doubt. Any form of inducement be it for refreshment or airtime and what not is a bribe. The officials have all their allowances to be paid and it is illegal to receive any handouts from anyone. Party agents in the north are easily bought over or cowered into silence by intimidation.

I have been INEC official before in some elections and at times supervisors used to go round the polling units to settle adoc-officials with feeding money according to legitimate provision of their assignment,therefore I doubt the authenticity of this information or report.

A transparent government should spend money on sensitizing people about these during election periods.
Spend money on radio and television adverts, warning people to desist from collecting money, spell them out and educate them on the repercussions of doing so. They should stop mortgaging their future for 1000 Naira. Appeal to their conscience. This may not stop this shameful act totally but will go a long way.

Vote buying is a Nigerian thing not a pdp or APC thing. They are all one and the same. Not everything should be reasoned along party lines, sometimes it's good to step out of that parochialism and view things as they are.

I am not an advocate of vote buying but the pictures above are not strong enough to indict any party for bribery. The man may even be a senior INEC official for all we know.
