yemiosinbajo:its like e don tey wey u leave naija.. When did u leave nigeria?..1996? 1998? 2001?. If u come back to nigeria u will know what real hell is all about.those things u take for granted in the USA are a luxury in nigeria? Is it light?..stable internet service? Or security?. Bros we have epileptic power supply and its now worse than how it was in the early 2000s and late 90s. Security here is dead. Ppl are dying like fowls in nigeria.everyday u switch on d news u hear stories about boko haram bombing one community or d other and fulani herdsmen raping women goin to d farm and invading villages.SARS arresting innocent ppl..police shooting ppl cos of 20 naira bribe. That is nigeria we have now. Welcome to nigeria where human life is worthless than that of the life of a chicken. 1 Like |

yemiosinbajo: Don’t worry, we will come and find wives to marry. I don’t like what you are doing on this thread. You are constituting an hindrance(psychological) to Nigerians who want to emigrate to America. Stop discouraging people who want a better life for themselves. |

Re: "Living Abroad Is More Difficult Than Living In Nigeria" - Lady by yemiosinbajo: 6:35pm On Aug 16, 2018 |
lefulefu: Lol, you keep missing my point. I understand what life in Nigeria is, and I know how it is in the US. Now, the issue with the US is this: all the luxury things you mentioned are not free. You pay for every damn service you get here. You cannot compare the electricity bills we pay here to what you pay in nigeria. How about all the insurance fees that we don't even use but are compulsory? Rent nko? Now, if you have a good job, you will be able to pay for these services comfortably. But how will you get that good job? It starts by being here legally, and by having all the legal papers it requires to get a job. If you come here on a student visa, you will need to pay for all these services, but you will not be allowed to work to be able to pay for them. Imagine, as a student, you got to pay for everything you get, but you are not allowed to work! So, where will you find the money to pay for them? You will need to depend on money from naija, which you and I know will not be possible because of the exchange rate and the fact that you left naija because you had no money. So, what happens when you live in the US with all the amenities you enjoy but are unable to pay for them? Bills start to fly in, your credit report is affected. You are evicted, taken to court. Remember you have no legal papers to work. Your punishment will be a deportation. So, in order to prevent this situation, what do you do? You try to work by all means despite not having the authorization. Then, you will have to do fake SSN, fake work permits, etc, just to survive. You still have to pay your tuition also. Therefore, you will begin to feel what it really means to be in hell in america. Then, if you get caught, you will be deported. If not, you cannot pay your tuition, so you will fall out of status. Then, you will start looking for someone to marry. Trust me, you don't want to find yourself in this situation because it's worse that I described. At this point you are already stuck in the US and cannot return to naija. If you complain, people in Naija will start why can't you come home if life is hard for you there? They will think you are lying. They don't know you are stuck. I know Nigerians are really determined, and you may still pull it through. But man, you will wish you were in naija when this reality sets it. It will take a while before you pull it through. This is why you need to plan very well before you come here as a non-immigrant. If you are coming as an immigrant, it's a different scenerio bro. People like Franknetter and other sweet threads you read about America here on NL came to America as immigrants so life is different for them. Do you have what it takes to come here as an immigrant? So, don't compare yourself with them. As a non-immigrant which most Nigerians try to come here through, it's something else. You just have to take your time and plan very well. 5 Likes |

resurgent2019: See this is just a medium but let me tell you I schooled abroad. I have my B S from a UK university. It is not that they are telling me. I have first hand account of how Nigerians, blacks are going through hard times. I wrote my last exam December by the next January I packed my belongings and came back home. It was not easy, but it was the right decision. My brother in law that overstayed he was later deported. Coming back was the right decision for me because if not I may not be back again here. And I am progressing little by little by God's Grace. Abroad is not made for everybody. I know many people in the UK that are living without papers that anyday they are deported , they will never get to any western country again. If you go abroad you will see people that sold their inheritance to travel and they are stuck. Except you peddle drugs or do fraud making it over there is just very few. 2 Likes |

resurgent2019: I said it, you keep missing the point. Did you see the word you used there? "Emigrate". Do you know what that word means at all? How many Nigerians, including you, are eligible to emigrate to the US. Life can be sweet if you emigrate, but do you know that most Nigerians are trying to travel as "non-immigrants" and not "immigrants" as your word implies? Why not try emigrating? |

yemiosinbajo: The dude thought he is talking with a novice. If there are 100 people abroad maybe 5 may be successful but the other 95 will be full of regrets. Even the drugs and fraud is still very hard because oyibo done wise up. The truth is that many Africans have sold there birthright for a porridge. Many don't even have pride about themselves. Life is not easy. There is no shortcut to success it is all about hard work. People are still making it here. True our government is bad but change is coming gradually. Many Nigerians are becoming aware politically. 2019 election will redefine a lot of things and finally many of our people don't know that underdevelopment is a big opportunity for economic growth. Nigeria is not poor. Nigeria's is rich in natural resources. Rich in human resources just bad government. Only. 3 Likes |

djon78: God bless you. You mentioned things many people never think about. I just talked to my family back in naija, and it's not like things are getting really worse for them. Nigeria is like an untapped talent, some people sieze the opportunity of its underdevelopment to make it big there. Many of those who come to America and make it do not even it big, they just live average, normal lives, and that's all. |

Just saw this now, yet some non-immigrants would expect to land in America and start making it big just like that, when even immigrants and citizens are still struggling. https://nypost.com/2018/06/23/why-the-middle-class-cant-afford-life-in-america-anymore/ |

yemiosinbajo: Thank you for also mentioning the different types of legal status . Franknetter came in through family petition which took him years to get . Even if you come with green card, you still have to plan. This stupid notion that people will come here to hussle without any proper and REALISTIC goals and planning is how people get stuck and into trouble . I remember a few years back watching on the news how a lady won green card lottery( not from Nigeria , can’t remeber where she’s from )came to this country and was complaining about lack of opportunities because her foreign creditionals were not accepted. She thought that since she had won the green card lottery , the government should have helped her with assimilating into the country. 2 Likes 1 Share |

yemiosinbajo: Let me say it again Africa is blessed. It is just that her citizens are just blind. We have excellent natural resources. We have even well educated workforce. The problem is just bad government. The potential for massive growth is so massive, even better than Europe and US. Why do you think people like aliko dangote are growing massively? People may talk bad about that man but I have great respect for him. He has leveraged on the needs and demand here. People should wake up. You are telling that guy the truth, point blank and he is saying that you are bad belle. Truth can be bitter but truth is truth. Presently I am building my self bit by bit. I am working very hard and my target is to help as many people as possible escape poverty. I am also now finding ways to start advising government. I am not there yet. As long as God gives us life, we will reach our destiny. My personality I don't just live for myself. I am a kind of person that works for overall good. It pains me that Africans will go through Sahara desert, over Mediterranean sea all to go to Europe. Many lose there life, many pay fortune some even sell their inheritance and in the end it is just waste. So that's why we must keep on educating then and warning them of dangers ahead. So that they will be aware. 1 Like 1 Share |

Babyvet:i know the steps to take because the school has already given me the steps of what i need to do . Just two days ago someone on nairaland was claiming that univs in canada refuse to admit international students.he claimed he's a resident in canada. But at d time i went to my former school to pay for d delivery of transcript ..dat was around April. I met a colleague who also came for an issue and she told me she was admission to study nursing in a canadian college. Based on what d moniker on nl said 2 days ago i had to whatsap my mom's colleague who is living and working in canada if its true dat canada has shut off its schools to international students. He replied by telling me dat some schools in canada only accept foreign students with permanent residency..and dis is quite common with medical schools. But there are also some schools both medical and non medical dat accept international students living outside its shores. This is coming from a family friend dat lives in canada. What i have come to see on nairaland is dat a lot of ppl here lie. Someone that has never travelled out frm his village will be claiming to live in new york. Some here will claim to be related to governors. So anything u hear and see on nairaland should be taken with a pinch of salt. I am not accusing u to be lying of being overseas but its a well know fact that most nairalanders here lie of being outside d country just to oil their ego. So anybody who takes any story here seriously is putting himself on a road of being misled. |
