CHAPTER TWELVE
CATHERINE
she didnt know what she was going to do,she began to contemplate whether to him or not,but he deserves to know,since he was the father.she couldnt eat as everything in the house was making her nauseous,she sat in the parlour and rubbed her tommy with her hands,a new life was growing inside of her.it was getting dark,he should be on his way by now.just then she heard the blarring of his car horn
"that must be him"she peeped through the window and saw him drove in.she sat down back after confirming it was him.
it had been a long day for him there was no doubt about that,he entered and met her in the sitting watching t.v.
"good evening catherine"
"good evening richard.so how was work?"
"it was great,but why didnt you show up?"her mind drifted back to all what happened during the day
"i was feeling down so i couldnt come"
"alright."
"richard i think we need to talk about something very important"he wondered what could she possibly want to talk about.and he decided to hear her out
"alright.am all ears"he sat few inched from her to listen to what she wanted to say.she didnt know how she was going to start and how he was going to react
"well.for the past few weeks now i have been feeling down,so i went to the doctor to do a check up and the results says am 3weeks pregnant"
"what!.how is that possible?"
"i missed my period 3weeks ago after we....had sex"he was confused
"and you think i am the one responsibe for your pregnancy"
"whats that supposed to mean?you were the first man i had sex with.so who else do you think would be responsible.i am telling you this because you deserve to know since you are the one that did it and also i have decided to abort the pregnancy"
"what!.you must be joking.no matter how much you hate me,this is my child also,you are not the only one involved in this,am the father so whatever decision i make is the final,so you dare not abort the pregnancy.and if you try it i will make sure i tell your mom about this whole charade we have been doing all this while"
"are you trying to blackmail me?"
"am not trying to blackmail you,am just saying the truth abortion is not the way forward,if you think you cant take care of the child,once you deliver give it to me and i will take good care of the child,and moreso i cant believe you would even consider abortion.do you hate me that much?"
"i dont hate you richard its just that i am not prepared to be a mother yet at least not now.this whole thing is a contract and i blame myself for been so stupid to get pregnant like this"he moved closer to her
"i want you to know one thing,everything that happens to us human beings has a purpose,nothing is by mistake,its not like am entirely happy about this but there is nothing i can do.so what we need to do now is to do our best in taking care of this child,we should be a good mother and father to this child,now we can decide the kind of person we want the child to be,whether we want him to be a lout or a respected man,its all starts from us.so lets put aside our differences and do the right thing"he drew her closer and let her cry in his arms...

he got to work the following day,he was very happy because as complicated as it sounds he was going to become a father,he had managed to talk her out of abortion and she had promised that she was going to keep the baby.since he was young he had loved children.he was going to be a father,he was also worried as he didnt know what the future holds for him and sandra,he felt sorry as she deserved better.a knock landed on the door,perhpas it was emeka but it was the private investigator that he hired.he was expentant as he knew he brought news on his mother,they exchanged pleasantries
"good morning sir"
"morning.how is it?"
"well i went to the place you mentioned i was very lucky that a lot of people knew her,as she was very popular because she sells akara balls when i showed them her picture,but i was told she has relocated,but they didnt know where,they took me to her former house and i spoke with her landlord and he told me she relocated to abeokuta but he didnt know where.finding her is going to be very difficult because we dnt have a clue as to where she might be living "
"thats right,but can you at least find her close friends and asked them she must have told them where she was going.and lets see where that will lead us?"
"of course"
"please i want you to use every means possible to find her,its imperative and i will pay you if it attracts extra charges"
"alright"he stood up as he was ready to go
"i will be expecting updates"
"of course"they shook hands and he went out.this was getting difficult than he predicted but he was going to use every means possible to find her.........TBC

since the miracle he was more lively and happier,its not a small thing for you to think you are surely gonna die and suddenly something happens and defies the odds,that was his case,he felt like visiting the company and see how things are and maybe cheer them on to do more.he told his wife about his plan to go back to the office but she disagreed
"honey you just got back on your feet.i insist you relax at home,leave the work to the younger generations its time for you to rest"
"i know you are looking out for me,but i dont like how am idle,boredom is killing me"

he woke up that morning with a niggling headache,its been disturbing him since yesterday,so he thought if he slept over it,everything would be alright but that was not the case as it got worse,he was going to make sure he see the doctor to perscribe some drugs for him.catherine was still in bed when he woke up.from now on he was going to make it his responsiblity to take care of her during her pregnancy and make sure she registers for ante-natal care which is very important.he didnt know whether to prepare something for her but he decided against it because pregnant women tends to have change in taste,but he made sure he did other household chores.when he was done and was ready to go he left a note on the table and left...

CATHERINE
she heard the horn of his car,he must be on his way to work,being pregnant was making her very lazy but richard didnt allow her to do any work in the house,he just treats her like she was an egg.she yawned and stretched again and peeped throught the window as she saw his car drive out.there was no doubt he had been very helpful.she stood up slowly,came to the sitting room and noticed everything was neat,he must have done the chores to.she drank a cup of water and saw a note on the table.it read
"morning cat..make sure you eat something as soon as you see this note.its important.call me if you need anything"she smiled at the note and dropped it.she felt like eating chicken,since she got pregnant she has been craving for chicken which she doesnt eat before.she went outside and called the gateman to help her buy chicken.just then she heard the horn of her car.she wondered why richard came back.he must have forgotten something since she had sent the gateman on an errand she opened the gate by herself and saw as her mom drove in,she was surprised to see her this early..she watched as she came down from her car
"mom.you didnt tell me you were coming.and what makes you come this early?"
"my mind has not been at peace for some days now,i feel strongly in my spirit that something is wrong with you,look at how lean you are"
"mom,its just malaria"she lied.she walked closer to her and looked at her carefully,she was seeing signs of pregnancy
"have you forgotten that i gave birth to you?and you met me in this world.so tell me whats wrong with you?perhaps are you pregnant"she noticed her statue
"mom am fine.dont worry about me"
"catherine,you cant deceive me,how many weeks did the doctor say?"
there was no way she could lie to her mother,the woman was clevr as she had years of experience.
"its been three and half weeks now"her mother couldnt hold her excitement as she started singing and dancing for joy,catherine laughed as she watched her,when she was done she drew her into a warm embrace
"at last my prayers have been answered now an going to have a grandchild"
"mom,stop it.its cold lets go inside"
"of course,and moreso have you registered for ante-natal"
"am planing to do it tomorrow"
"dont waste anytime go and register tomorrow.its very important so that you can have a healthy baby,so first thing tomorrow thats what i want you to do"
"alright mom"she closed the gate and they both went inside....

RICHARD
he got to the office that morning and was told mr anthony was in his office,he was surprised because the meeting was impromptu he didnt tell him that he was coming,he pushed the door opened nd saw the man sitted comfortably on the settee. In the office.he prostrated and greeted him while he dropped his briefcase on the table to attend to him
"what brings you here,this early morning sir?"
"i came to say hello to you guyz and i want to see how work is going even though i get detailed report everyday ,and i went to your wifes office she was not there.why is she nor in the office?"
"she has malaria thats why she couldnt come"
"alright,but make sure you extend my greetings to her"
"of course i will sir.can i see the accounts"
"of course sir"he brought a large book and handed it over to him as scanned throught it,after he was through he adjusted his glasses and looked up
"i must say you guyz are doing a great job,the profit has risen twofolds of what we get before"
"its my duty sir and moreso am your son"nonetheless he was pleased.he stood up
"i want to look around,and if you dont mind you can accompany me"
"of course"he followed him as they both came out of the office....TBC
