The feeling is very bad when this happens? You feel like it's the end of the world. It feels hard starting to look for another and getting it feels like impossible.

How did you cope when you lost your job?

How many weeks, months and years did it take for you to eventually get another one?

Were you always sitting at home and applying online or were you always going out, trekking from one company to another, with your CVs and Credentials, seeking for job? Have in mind that most companies don't accept hard copies......they will always refer you online and that's if they are recruiting.

For someone who just lost his job and has experience, not being able to complete his rent(landlord always calling and threatening) No connection, No hope of getting another job anytime soon.......What will you advise such a person?

Matured minds pls!

I can understand your plight bro. It kinda makes you feel like the end has come. Always try to keep a positive outlook. Keep applying for job adverts as well. Good luck.

It is one of the worst thing that can ever happen to anyone. Try to keep hope alive. Let trusted family members and friends know what you are going through so they can possibly assist you with the little they have.

Also, while you apply for jobs you are qualified for, apply also for those you are overqualified for. Even a little this time is better than nothing. In short, apply for all jobs you see. It is no time to be picky.

The most important thing is remember the times in your life in the past when you think all hope was lost but you still find a way around the issue. Know that this is just a moment in your life and it will also pass. Remembering how far you have gone will help you pass through this. No glory without story.

You will eventually laugh at last.

The Government cannot help you, Private companies cannot help you, recently it is becoming difficult for connection to help. Only God can, but the Nigeria situation of 1job to 1000 applicants makes it complex. 1 job vacancy and all of d applicants believe in God. Abeg wetin God go do? Na 1 position dey na.

It might dismay u to know dt lots and lots of folks are losing their jobs on a daily, unemployment rate is not only increasing but in d recession it's hyper increasing.

Now, what will a guy man do, u r on ur own, u either go legit or illegit.

I bought a show glass, some sandals and palm slippers all totalling about 40k, I looked for a choice location and put it there and started d hustle. God blesses the hustle of his Children

Guy, Dts how i have been living and I have 3 show glasses now in different location of my city, planning for the 4th. Still looking for job since 2016 when my contract job ended but haven't gotten one. Imagine dt I am still waiting for job now. I go wait tire. I go don suffer die. I go dey complain up & down.

Don't put ur fate in the hand of Nigeria. The country is a failed state. You have ur fate in your head. Use it. Don't wait, act!

Don't ever think a kinda job is beneath you, don't live off parent, relatives or friends n if you will let it be very short. Dont live by begging. Have some honor mahn.

And finally don't give dt excuse... where will I find money? U will when u r ready to start small.

Above all I believe in God sincerely & to Him b the glory.

A Nigerian graduate writes.

I really feel your pain bro, i have been there before, and i almost killed myself, but with the help of God and some people around me, most especially my mum and my Fiancee, i scale through.

I actually lost a customer service job last year, and i was at home for 6 whole month, sending out cv's and and trekking from one place to another to look for job, but thank God i got something around February.

Just keep praying to God, and never stop believing in Him, theirs difference between going to church and believing in God, you might be going to church everyday, but not believing in God.

So your first point is to believe in God, pick up some prayer books and always make it your companion, and always be very vigilant when it comes to recruitment.

one of the Prayer book that helps me is PRAYER RAIN by (Dr. D.K. Olukoya), though i am a Catholic, but i still add this as my daily companion, and believe me, God has been doing wonders in my life.

If you have a car turn it to taxi drop immediately and turn to taxi man while hustling for another job. You cant afford to stay at home idle, idleness and boredom kills faster than anything.

Where are the money you saved while working, start thinking of the investment or business to start to keep earning.

that is why saving is a must while working.

pray to God and hopefully things will get better

don't stay idle while job hunting BC an average person takes over 5years to secure a meaningful job

This is a difficult subject, but it's good to face it because, among other things, it serves as a reality check and reminds us that a salaried job would not equate to financial independence after all said and done.

You didn't say if your previous job was pensionable. If so, I would suggest you file in with your Fund Administrator to put you on a monthly basic support from your funds with them, while you are tinkering your next move.

You must take it easy on yourself too as just about anyone can be a victim of job loss, so understand it's nothing personal. This is a great way to condition your mindset to ensure you won't be falling into depression anytime soon.

Set up a LinkedIn profile to get you up and ready to go. Apply to jobs as much as you can. It's great to have a good exercise regimen during this period. Join a sport club, a youth organization at church and any noble gathering, which can be a good support system for you.

Don't rule out the prospect of pursuing a personal business as well, as this is infact the way to go and the surest route to get ahead of any risk of job loss. Not easy the way I have typed all this, but keep your head up nevertheless.

I am sure God will make a way, where there seems to be no way. Chin up, bro.

Hey bro, sorry I missed your call. It's not hard at all. Just get their customer service email. I'll check for you because I also use IBTC. Through mail, you can let them know you have lost your job and would like to draw from your Fund monthly until you find another source of income.

It won't take long before they activate this facility for you. Just do it, bro! You will be fine in no time. Cheers!!!

Loosing your job can mean loosing touch with friends!!

No job security in this country called Nigeria. Lost job 2 times between 2017-2018, the company usually give one excuse or the other for shutting down their business and staffs asked to go home.

What you can do 'if' you loose your job

1. Talk to God, family and friends.
2. Apply for only job role you fit into their requirements ( if you are <27 years, lucky you)
3. Never loose hope.

What you need to understand is that loosing job is not the end of the world, recently Jack Ma co founder of Alibaba revealed that he will be retiring and he is not even up to 60 years. All u need to ask yourself is what you really want to achieve?

Recently I lost a job, but the day after while I was waking up, I asked myself, what would I have done if I didn't loose my job the previous day. There lied my answer.... And I have been hustling ever since...
