Why aren't there comments from females here? Don't you people work too?

OP. Hang in there. You'll be fine. I prophesy that by the end of this month, being my birth month, you shall be surprised with something very decent. Amen.
You spoke my mind

For Danfo bus:

From Ajah to ketu is 500 per person. Multiply by 14 passengers =7000/trip by average 4 trips/day =28k/day.

Kawounited:
Is unfortunate that all the businesses I tried while working failed because I left the business with someone to look after them. I learnt 4 one to be successful in business, you need to do it yourself.

Secondly, I started with 30k and grew to the level I was collecting that salary. And during that journey, I happened to be the only bread winner in the family. So I have been supporting my aged parents, my siblings and even some friends that couldn't get a good job.

I was able to built a big house which I moved in some months back..

And again, am not the kind of person that when people come seeking for assistance and am in the position, I will fold my hands.. And remember, we all grew up in African setting where we all benefited from our immediate and extended families. So it's time to impact positively on other people's lives.

I have no regret whatsoever.. Am now a happy man because I now learnt what reality of life is all about. Am just 40 and still in my productive years.. So is left 4 me now to pursue other new challenges.

And in my pension contribution, am having a cool 13.7m. So am to access my 25% next month.. That's another 3.4m coming to me. Remember, I already have bedsheets business am doing which I will use part of the money to grow that business then find another one or two businesses that doesn't require large capital so that I can start and grow them too..
Okay.

Makes more sense. Apologies for my insinuation.

Embarrassment is not just d issue here sis, most time, dos ppl dont have gut 2 meet their bosses, n dey won't also b allowed 2 break protocols by letting u meet wit their oga....so, if dey dont embarrass u. They just collect d CV most time n drop it in there security post. One has even demanded for money from me before (though stipend ooo), still ntn happen...@Op my advice for u is 2 just request for ur pension n start something with it...May God hlp us all
I understand but how many companies pay pension? There was a certain time I lost my job I was going to summit my CV in another company when someone there showed me another that was recruiting and that was how I got a little something and you need to be prayerful too

It might be a long road brother, a very long road that you won't expect. Hone your skills, there are new things to learn about your industry everyday and they are on the internet. keep throwing your CVs, network, attend events that match your interest, Pray and be hopeful. make sure to keep in touch with family and friends.

do u knw that there are alot of jobs in the informal sectors of the Nigerian economy?

our problem is that we have so belittle these opportunities; and we want to be wearing ties even if its 25k per mth..

just imagine, if u knw how to drive, what stops u from being a Taxify,Uber or even clean danfo driver (especially the ones in Ajah to V.I).

i dont knw how much they make o, but just imagine making 3,000 naira per day. thats 75k per mth for 25 working days.

if u are so good in financial management, u can save 30k per mth. multiply that by 12mths (1yr) thats min. 360k. after 3yrs worst case scenario, u should have gotten ur own bus.

repeat that for the next 3yrs u should have 2 buses, u ride one, give the other out and be collecting income.

so u can see, that there are alot of opportunities in the informal sectors from agriculture to transport to retailing to logistics etc..

our problem is that we dont want to get our hands dirty, all in the name of being a graduate.
For a Danfo bus:

From Ajah to ketu is 500 naira per person. Multiply by 14 passengers =7000 per trip by average 4 trips per day =28k per day.

By the time you remove feeding, and fuel expenses and other expenses ,you make 20k per day profit.

20k multiply by 25 days in one month is 500k.

Money dey dirty work.
No much sweat with this.

You all keep saying loosing...it is losing as in lose?? Loose is when something is not well hearkened or fastened!!

DTeekay:
What you need to understand is that loosing job is not the end of the world, recently Jack Ma co founder of Alibaba revealed that he will be retiring and he is not even up to 60 years. All u need to ask yourself is what you really want to achieve?

Recently I lost a job, but the day after while I was waking up, I asked myself, what would I have done if I didn't loose my job the previous day. There lied my answer.... And I have been hustling ever since...

This is a difficult subject, but it's good to face it because, among other things, it serves as a reality check and reminds us that a salaried job would not equate to financial independence after all said and done.

You didn't say if your previous job was pensionable. If so, I would suggest you file in with your Fund Administrator to put you on a monthly basic support from your funds with them, while you are tinkering your next move.

You must take it easy on yourself too as just about anyone can be a victim of job loss, so understand it's nothing personal. This is a great way to condition your mindset to ensure you won't be falling into depression anytime soon.

Set up a LinkedIn profile to get you up and ready to go. Apply to jobs as much as you can. It's great to have a good exercise regimen during this period. Join a sport club, a youth organization at church and any noble gathering, which can be a good support system for you.

Don't rule out the prospect of pursuing a personal business as well, as this is infact the way to go and the surest route to get ahead of any risk of job loss. Not easy the way I have typed all this, but keep your head up nevertheless.

I am sure God will make a way, where there seems to be no way. Chin up, bro.
@ konvict0111 please can i have ur number ? Am having d same case. My whatspp number is 09020606565. N call ;08181703327,

I lost my job 1 year ago, at some point in the job I felt I was too intelligent for the job self.

I got to pick myself up few months ago, the job paid 50k monthly, now I keep wondering how I survived with that salary... I make over 4 times that some months without leaving my house.

We all have something to offer, dream big, even if you work today, remember it's not a family business, learn something new, others go to school to get MSc and stuff. Just keep going forward.
How can I reach you sir? I need insights on how to mk money from home too

Cryptocurrency trading, article writing, Social media management and lots more....all from the comfort of my home and as God will have it....I still foot my bills comfortably and the beauty of this is that you can take several jobs at the same time and combine, you get as exposed to even bigger opportunities, as it stands should Crypto bull season set in.....hehehheehe, God be praised. Blockchain is offering several opportunities daily, learn a programming skill if you can because AI et al are taking over, these office jobs people scramble to keep will soon be gone as Robotics becomes more advanced. Believe me the Internet is a goldmine for a determined soul, one has to be patience but surely the reward will come
So how do I start? Recommend sites/books for me now

I keep saying it, the problem with some people is that they feel so comfortable with one source of income. Why? Ever since I got my job (started with 30k) back in 2013, I started looking for an alternative source of income until I found one in 2016. FREELANCING. Domain flipping is like an investment where the returns is uncertain. I suggest you start with Vanzal and Beatzone fiverr thread here on Nairaland.

If can be thinking of resigning come December this year, then trust me when I tell you that freelancing is one of many sure ways to make money online. I do hope you consider this. Good luck
What kind of service is most sought after on freelancing please??

Cool, I know them. If you are in Lagos, why not take sometime to visit their office around Anthony Bus stop to find out about your position with them.

Considering the circumstance, I would suggest you play smart by asking them for your account statement, so you can be able to ascertain if your employer is still making contribution despite the termination. Move forward too, by letting them know you would like to draw from your funds until you find your feet again.

Good luck, bro. All will be well.
