The question you should be asking is the school law rule against wearing of hijab, if not they should allow the Muslim students to wear the hijab unless otherwise. The school management should know the school rule than others but it seems they are not. You may not know my brother it is not even allow for a Muslim girls to drop her hijab for one seconds outside on her own. A government school is not a religious school. It won't kill anyone if the girls drop their hijabs for a few hours of school. Schools don't allow Catholic kids to wear Chaplets and medals and finger Rosaries. Schools don't allow girls from other Christian denominations to cover their hair or wear Church vests to school, so why should Muslim girls be permitted to wear hijabs to government schools? Everyone should try to be more tolerant, more flexible and less over-zealous.

You were given admission into the school with "terms and conditions". You accepted. Now you want your 'employer' to dance to your tune because it's within your constitutional rights.
Assuming, but not conceeding, that the school allows this, before you know it, they will insist on making provision on the time table to allow for "PRAYING TIME" since it is also their fundamental human rights.

ISI is not a private school. It is owned by a public, federal university, University of Ibadan. Over the years, its staff are on the payroll of the federal government until recently when the federal government asked all universities to take control of their schools. The case is still in court because staff members are opposed to idea of this autonomy. A government school should respect the right of everybody, it is a constitutional right.

Most of these parents are just to show themselves, in their homes these hijab are not being wore by them. Now that the students weren't allowed to learn, what did they gain from it.

Then in my secondary school, You must cut your hair low cut. No earrings. No any sort of jewelries. No tight dress. No make up except Vaseline to be used as lip balm during harmattan season. It was Girls school.

All these regulations doesn't stop some to wear them outside the school premises. But inside the school we appear in UNIFORM.

I remember in 2003 when some Muslim students went to schools and beat up christian students because of hijap, i made a presentation to the committee on return of schools to the missionary set up by the then governor, Senator Ladoja. During the presentation, i asked them why can't Muslim build their own private schools and then propagate all their doctrines there? The Muslims couldn't answer me. Everything is wrong with it. If they must cover their head, they should wear beret which is part of the school uniform. Hijab is a religious wear and should not be worn in schools. The same nonsense happened in Lagos sometimes and they were taken to court. At the end it was ruled the hijab should not be worn in public schools .

School children do not pray 5 times a day.

In the 80s,prior to Nigeria's registration with the OIC,a Muslim politician and philanthropist(who is dead now,names withheld) had obtained grants from Saudi-Arabia to build the Central Mosque.
Before it was built,it was one small mosque tucked at a corner some metres away from where the Mosque now stands....
This politician now built the Mosque where it now stands adjacent to the cross where the full view of the cross was facing the worshippers whenever they looked up.....
It now caused a heavy religious problem akin to what's happening as they petitioned the then Head of state,and Minister of Education who had their sympathies.
Nigeria just got herself registered at the OIC and the then Minister,Prof. Jubril Aminu(himself,an old boy of the school),had summoned the then VC,Prof. Ayo Banjo to Lagos(then seat of government),and told him specifically to remove the cross to quell the problem. That cross you see there has been there since 1954.
The Christians(staff and students) prior to that had sworn that they rather die than move that cross.
The VC replied the Minister....that it will be easier for the Minister to remove him as VC than for the cross to be relocated.
The cross still stands there till today,
If you are familiar with that place you will discover that in front of the Central Mosque,there is a big wall built with blocks,specifically to block the cross whenever the Muslims pray......
