Not all. Some are very nice, pretty and educated professional ladies who spent all their life working lots, taking good care of the family and suddenly a widow and alone, no needed by anybody. I guess the good, decent woman is an easy target for this scam.

There is no single reason why some Nigerian men do this. It is a combination of factors, poverty, hopelessness, scamming tendencies, love, adventure all contribute.

Many Nigerian men trek through the Sahara desert to get to Europe, risking their lives on the journey. For some of such people, getting married to an older white woman just to "escape" from Nigeria might just be a better option than trekking through the desert.

I have seen women who marry just to get someone to care of them financially, so men can also do it if they are desperate to rise above their current financial status.


Also getting an older white woman to marry will be much easier than getting a young white woman to marry for a Nigerian because of several factors. If you are in a foreign land you tend to copy what your social groups are doing, if Nigerian men were easily marrying young white women, more Nigerian men will try that option, the fact that they are going for older white women means that it is the older women that is easier for them to marry.

Men and women marry for several reasons, as one grows older you come to realise that marriage needs more than love to survive, mutual respect, tolerance, finance and the desire to make the marriage work all goes a long way in making a marriage a success. So even though these men might not be marrying for love, it does not mean that the marriage can not work.

And one other thing, when the desirable is not available, you can make the available desirable.
Lastly, some do it for scam. They don't want the marriage, it is either they want green card or they want easy money from the older women so they will pretend that they want the marriage just to get what they are looking for.


All in all, people marry older women for several factors and age is just a number to some.

Yes but not to marry them. Many old ladies, specially UK, Germany go to Africa on vacation for sex.
For American woman to decide to marry a foreigner it's a very hard decision and not easy one (we have many laws and financial issues to consider), so Nigerian guy needs really convince her he loves her too much. Some Nigerian guys, the woman answered him saying not possible but anyway several times a day she receives messages how much do they love her and and they want to marry her and it goes for several months non stop.

Yet, I recognize, Nigerian men are very nice men and many are handsome, very attractive, it's possible the women chase them but not online, after meeting in person yes.

Nobody is sweet talking those old women into marrying anybody. 95℅ (if not 100℅) of those marriages are arranged. There is an illegal organisation responsible for that. You pay them, they take their own cut, pay the women and the two will get married. The man gets what he wants(to be a citizen) and the woman gets what she wants(money). It’s plain and simple because they are an easy target. Poverty and desperation makes many overlook the 60+ year old vagina. The final goal is a red book or a green card. It’s not a Nigerian issue, it is widespread. These women come to Africa to seek young black men, walk on a beach in Gambia it’s rife with this sort of thing, same in Ghana, Senegal, Kenya and Southern Africa.
We see more Nigerians simply because Nigeria has more people than any African country but it’s not only Nigerians who do this let’s get that clear.

I kind of agree with you, you made good points, but why then don't we see young white males for whatever ulterior motives targeting older African women with fat bank accounts, if we can answer that, therefore I think the root of this matter can be identified.


It is obvious, the induced immense poverty that continues to be sustained by successive corrupt administration from the days of the military junta to this so-believed democratic era have led the intentionally pauperized and impoverished-minded Nigerian male-folks from the previous generation passing on to those, you've deduced based on your statistically observed majority by random occurrence, a mentality that presuppose every white women falls into elderly age bracket, obese, ugly or not would go to any length to finance their social need in exchange for love, feigned or real.

It's what I am saying. If the Nigerian man value himself, why not meeting and convincing the young pretty white woman or a woman any race around his age? I only see 1 reason, these men marrying the old ones, are too lazy and believe the old woman will support him and he doesn't need to work hard for to establish in a new country.
