The audacity in which she start the story.. hitting the right nerve with devastating accuracy made me conclude that we are not dealing with an amateur writer here or one of those first timer learning the rope LIT 101.

We are actually dealing with one who had been in the game for a while. To confirm my theory,I had to check her out and indeed she has a story to her name.

A story I have never read nor came across.

However,i intend to check that story out soon...for the plot here,the use and choice of words, the creative aspect of this very story proves beyond reasonable doubt that this is gonna be something awesomely beautiful,inspiring alluring and above all educative teaching a serious lesson and the first story..who knows, might be a little more above ordinary in the interesting aspect of it.

Well,I am not concluding yet...
Everything so far sounds and is still pointing and screaming ..."this one is capable "...." this one is the real deal"..."this one is something special" so I intend to critical follow this story and see where I could encourage vehemently or kick her ass.

Most of the episodes of Love Hiccups have been pulled down. The storyline is great and all that but you're more likely to find all kinds of errors in it than this one wrote it right after WAEC and right now, I'm in 200 level battling with Chemistry, physics and mathematics.

And yap, I've been told I really need to work on my description a lot.

Wow, and I finally caught up with baby Kim, very interesting story so far. However, this chapter five didn't 'flow' well atall, I thought Shade had house helps and gate man sort of, so how come she's the one opening a door by herself almost/in the night without even notice all the way from the gate....
Secondly, unless I'm really confused, is Amanda the Ex the same person frolicking with the shooter or is that a different person entirely whose name haven't been mentioned yet, how the heck do you shoot someone twice when you are banking on him as ur ticket to a better life cruising around the world - that didn't make any sense. Unless I got things wrong here
Thirdly, someone took two bullets-- one very close to his heart, undergoes surgery and fully awake under 24hours kinda, mehn, that must really be Batman's brother shaaa.

All the same, nice work Kim.

Shade woke up with a throbbing headache she had cried herself to sleep the previous night.

"Ouch! My head hurts badly." she groaned.

She went over to the shelf in the bedroom and took out a sachet of paracetamol.

She quickly went into the bathroom, washed her mouth and still came out holding her head. Her head was indeed hurting badly. The previous night when she could no longer keep the tears that threatened to fall from falling she went over to her bed and cried until sleep won her over.

She took the paracetamol and picked up her phone, turning it on, she kept it on the table and left it to booth, the previous night she had turned it off, not wanting anything to distract her chain of thoughts.

Alex had just returned from the hotel where he spent the night with a random girl he picked on his way back from Daniel's house.

"Daddy, Good morning." Miranda greeted.

"Good morning, how are you?"

"My school fees." she replied harshly. "You haven't completed the payment and I don't want any embarrassment in school today."

Like mother, like daughter!

"I will give it to you before you leave for school today." he assured her, rubbing his hands all over her back.

"Sure?" she questioned.

"Very sure." he answered.

She turned to walk away but her drew her back to himself. "Won't you give daddy a hug?"

She smiled tightly and hugged him. The hug lingered more than it should...way more than the normal father and daughter hug.

Miranda coughed uncomfortably.

Alex disengaged from her, smiling like he just won an award. "I need water to bath, I've got somewhere I need to be now. When you get back from school, I will take you to that shopping mall you've been dying to go. I'm celebrating success today." he explained. "And as soon as we get back, we will have some alone time."
She nodded and left.

Miranda quickly did as her dad instructed her and soon Alex was ready to head to Daniel's house.

In absolutely no time, Shade was already dressed for work. She picked up her phone which laid carelessly on the table and walked gracefully to her car, putting the event of the past night way behind her.

The previous night, she had done an awful job of letting Alex words eat deeply into her and she felt terrible for it. Today she was just going to go to work, happy and extremely happy, dismissing it as one of those problems that comes with marrying someone you met just a little over a year.

She entered her car and her hand unconsciously went to her phone. Just like it always does.

"A text?" She hesitated for a minute before clicking on it.
Her eyes widened in shock when she read the content of the text.

She ran out of her car like a mentally deranged woman, dragging her handbag with her. She almost collided with that gate keeper who came out to find out what the problem was. No way in the world would she drive shaking like that.

"It's not possible." she kept on saying, while trying to flag down a taxi. None stopped but she didn't give up, she totally forgot she was angry at her husband, all she wanted at that moment was to be by his side.

Lucky enough, Alex car soon pulled to a stop before her. He got out grinning from ear to ear like an overfed rabbit but all that soon changed when he got out and properly saw the state she was in. "What happened to you?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.

"Daniel. He's in the hospital." she informed him, almost close to tears.

"I thought you said he travelled out." he asked, his voice reeking of genuinty.

"I don't know, I don't know. All I know is that I just want to be by his side now."

"What hospital? Let me take you there."

"Newman hospital Lugbe." she replied and started walking to his car, without a second invitation.

With a snort, Alex walked to the car, entered and drove off. Not exactly how he planned his day!

"I just pray it's nothing serious." She kept on praying while he drove.

Alex sighed. "Did he call you or what?"

"No, he sent me a text message." she replied after a moment of silence.

Alex nodded and look on.

He had a lot on his mind.

They soon got there and met Alex lying helplessly on the hospital bed.

Shade was moved to tears when she saw him. Just yesterday he was looking so lively and bubbling and today, he laid there like a helpless kid, looking so frail, with faded colour and his veins already visible.

"What happened to you?" She asked after some moments of silence. Even though it was obvious, she still had to ask, she just wasn't expecting what she saw.

Daniel kept on staring at her; something about her wasn't quite right, like she's been crying, he soon stopped staring, what woman wouldn't cry when her beloved husband's lying on hospital bed wearing white scrubs? Finally he decided to speak when he saw tears crowding her eyes again. "It's nothing serious. I was shot but I'm fine now." he then flashed a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"Dan, who could have done this to you? Are the police doing anything about it?." Alex asked. "Cuz if they're not I will take matters into my own hands."

Daniel couldn't help but smile genuinely. Even though they were not in good terms before the accident, he know that Alex meant what he said. Alex was fond of taking matters into his hands, it didn't just start. "Alex don't worry. I'm sure they will do something about it."
He held out his hand for his wife who was already crying. "It's okay. I'm fine now."

Somehow, he was grateful to see her with Alex, at least she was in safe hands.

"I'm glad you're okay. But those scumbags shouldn't go scot free." Shade said amidst tears.

Right after that statement, a nurse walked in with two police men behind her.

"Sorry to disturb you. These men wants to speak with you." The nurse informed them.

"I'm Officer Obinna," The first one spoke, waving his badge in their faces. "We came in respect of the incident at the airport. We called are we were informed that you're awake now. Which surprised us considering the nature of the whole incident."

Daniel just smiled without saying a word

The second one also introduced himself and as soon as the introduction ended. Alex excused himself and left the room.

He walked out, dialing a number as he went.
"You idiots should meet me outside Newman hospital now." he barked into the phone.

Chapter Six

Few weeks later,

Daniel was back to the house and everything was now back to normal also. The doctor who discharged him told him he was a 'Miracle' on two legs cuz everything had gone really well from the surgery to the recovery.
Even they were surprised at how it all happened.

But Daniel wasn't.

They were all in the car that day, they both died but there was not even a scratch on his body. Nobody would have believed he was with them if they didn't see it happen.

Shade walked around the room, she had been dying to confront Daniel about all the things Alex has been saying, recently, she and Alex had become so close and every time, he gave her more and more reason to believe that Daniel wasn't as innocent as he seemed or claimed to be.

"Beauty," Daniel called, interrupting her thought.
She smiled, a smile that she didn't feel.

Daniel noticed that she hasn't quite been herself, since he got back from the hospital. She was no longer her 'chatty' self. She spent more time with her phone than him. At first he had dismissed it as the shock that came with the incident but he didn't think so anymore. Something was wrong even though he couldn't put his finger to it.

"What's wrong?" he asked, wishing she could tell him. He hated to see her like that, all quiet and biting her lips.

She opened her mouth but before she could respond, her phone rang.

She twitched her lips and picked up her phone.
"Hello." she said to whoever was at the other end.
"Who was that?" Daniel inquired, after she finished answering the phone.

He didn't mean to pry but he just had to ask. She was smiling and laughing like her old self and he liked that.

"My mum." came the sharp reply.

"Oh!" he put in smoothly. Some how he didn't think she was saying the truth. It didn't seem like she was speaking with her mum.

"She wants to see me tomorrow."

"No problem. I can stay alone." he grinned at her. He misunderstood the look on her face as worry and concern for him.

She gave him a light hug, wearing a smile he could tell was fake. "Thanks baby! I need to go and pick up something from the mall for her."

"You can ask one of the domestic helps to do that for you. I hate it when you overstress yourself." he complained.
She shook her head no, " You know I love to do my things myself besides, they are for mum and I specially want to buy them myself."

"I'm sure everybody in this house already knows you love to do your things by yourself, but don't take too long."

She kissed him on the cheeks, took her bag and hurried out.

Daniel went to the bed and sat down with his hands on his head. His head was a mess...a big one. He had lots of things going on in there. On one hand was the shooting incident which the police were still investigating and on the other hand was his wife, who now behaved strange. He wondered what was wrong with her. He just hoped it wasn't something bad. There was also Amanda, who was seriously asking for forgiveness.

"I just hope I don't run mad very soon." he said, still holding his head. He was more worried about his wife but he didn't want to talk to her about it. She was beginning to distance herself from him and the last thing he wanted was 'quarrel' in that stage of their marriage.

In another place, Alex and 3 other young men sat with lots of bottles of alcoholic drinks before them.
"...guys, if you don't do a clean job this time around, I will make sure you all pay for it with your heads." he warned, sternly.

"Boss, we're a sorry. We promise to do a better job this time around." one of the men replied.

"I'm taking your word for it." he pointed a finger at the one who spoke. "Bring in the ladies, you guys are not giving me joy at all."

One of the men went and soon reappeared with five young girls of about twenty-two, all skimpily dressed like it was a night party.

Shade walked around the store, trying to pick out the perfect products. She got the few things she wanted to get for her mum and walked to the children's section.
Old memories came flooding into her mind but she brushed them aside. She wished above all things that they could live together but since that wish couldn't be granted. She made sure she always got him nice things. He was her golden Jewel.

She studied all the clothes in the section and ended up picking the most expensive of them all

A smiled tugged at her lip. He would definitely like this and wear it around the whole place just to show it off to everyone. She thought quietly. God! She loved him more than anything.

Her body tensed when she remembered the last time she saw him. He was so happy that he begged her to spend more time with him. Unfortunately, she couldn't.
Turning around she walked to the cashier.

Holding the cloth up, the young lady beamed with smile. "Your son will definitely love this."

"He's not my son." she whispered slowly.

"Oh, I'm sorry," the lady fixed her gaze at her ring finger. "I just thought, well, I just thought...never mind. I'm so sorry." she apologized.

She quickly packed the things and gave them back to Shade, who paid and left the store.

She walked to her car with tears in her eyes, wishing she could say everything as it was. There was so much in her head which she wouldn't dare voice out. He eyes lit excitedly, full of relief when she remembered who she was meeting the next day; someone who knew her in and out, even more than she knew herself, she would share her problems with her and at least feel better, after all, a problem shared is half solved.

She found the ride back to the house uneventful but then she was happy she got back on time, just like her husband instructed.

"I'm back. " she announced to her husband excitedly. Earlier on when she remembered who she was seeing the next day, it did wonders to her and her mood, now she was so excited, waiting for the next day to come quickly, if not for anything, they would sit and talk about her love; her golden jewel.

Daniel came out the smiling, he had heard her excited tone while in the bathroom and he was glad.

"Welcome back beauty. How was the shopping?" he asked, even though it wasn't necessary.

"Fine. I got really nice things for mum." she answered, kicking off her shoes. "What have you been doing since I left?"

"Nothing. Alex just left." he informed her, nonchalantly.
What could he have come to do? She asked inwardly.

"Hope he's fine?"

"Very fine. He even said I should tell you he visited. I'm glad that you two are no longer at loggerheads."

She flashed him her teeths. They didn't exactly fight, they just hated each other and more still, he just reminded her of all the things Alex had been saying and the fact that she's been living with a pretender. A holier than thou husband.

"I want to rush somewhere. I'm meeting with one of my business associates." he informed her, pulling on his clothes.

"Alright. I even need to get some rest. My head is aching badly." she said, lying on the bed.

"Try and take paracetamol." Daniel adviced, knowing how bad she hated drugs.

"I will try." she said, flashing him a smile. Even though she knew that she didn't need the paracetamol, she just had to agree in order not to prolong the conversation.

Daniel took his car keys and strolled out of the house.
Shade heaved in relief, the last thing she needed was questions about what and what she bought.

He soon got to his destination, parked his car and walked to where she sat.
"Amanda, why did you call me?" He asked angrily as soon as he got to her..
