Please guys quick question. Can one do drop box now even if the current visa is still valid till March? Seeing as it takes a while to come out and you have to travel in April. Thanks for the anticipated responses

Good day gurus in the house.
Pls! I need advice from anyone in this forum who have information about my predicament.
I went for my B1B2 (Conference B1)visa interview last week wednesday in Abuja.I think I answered all the questions correctly and honestly. At the expiration of the interview the VO returned my passport and my Ds 160 and gave me a 221g administrative yellow paper, she said I 'll be contacted through mail.No documents was checked or asked for during the interview session. The next day I received a mail from the embassy with attached DS-5535 form to be filled and email back to the embassy. The attached DS 5535 form has been filled and mail back the embassy.
Don't understand what this process is all about, anyone with useful information and advice is highly welcome.

It means, maybe one or more of your answers triggered more questions and investigation especially relating to terrorism or national security.

"Form DS-5535, Supplemental Questions for Visa Applicants, standardizes the collection of additional information, including social media usage, from immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applicants "who have been determined to warrant additional scrutiny in connection with terrorism or other national security-related visa ineligibilities."

I have gone through some of the post on procuring visas and know as an individual, I can get a visa for myself.
But, I have a challenge, I intend to apply for a visiting visa for my wife and kids. They do not have any travel history though I will be responsible for their journey. My finances are good and I have traveled to the US, UK, Israel and UAE in the last 13 years. My last trip was to the US in 2014, do I have a chance to convince them to give my family visa? I need expert opinions, please.

Good evening guys please I would like to know what my chances are in applying for a US visit Visa.
An agent applied for me in 2016 and it was writing on my ds-160 form that I was married with a child after quarrelling the agent he said he had to do it that way to show that I have family that I'm coming back to and that they don't grant visit visa to singles and unfortunately for me I was denied. Now to the questions been asked by the VO
VO: Have you traveled out of the country before?
Me: No
VO: Are you pregnant?
Me: No
VO:Do you have any child or children?
Me I have a son(due to what was in my Ds160 )
VO:You are going to Ohio
Me: Yes
VO: who are you going to see?and why
Me: My Uncle, to celebrate his fortieth birthday with the family
VO: Do you have any other relative in the US apart from your uncle
Me: No
VO: sorry your application can not be granted at the moment but you can reapply whenever you choose to .

Then I didn't know that I was suppose to ask for the reason for my refusal but on the paper I was given she said I did not demostrate a strong tie to my home country. Now to my major issue in my next application do I use the previous false information or I should use my correct information and made them know at the embassy during my interview that the agent I used before guffed in my application. Thanks please @justwise,@lady g and other gurus in the house kindly help a sister.

Since your agent guffed, he has messed everything up for you. Keep on presenting the very same thing your agent filled for you. That is why it is always good one does the application fillings by himself. USA visa granting is by the grace of God and strong tie back home. Your reasoning of traveling for me is not substantial. I wish you good luck in ur next application which I can see u been favored. Congratulations and goodluck

wow, as if being Nigerian isn't enough wahala in this present time, I can only imagine how it sucks -- especially when you are innocent -- to be Muslim in an age where every Muslim is looked at as a suspect. A NIGERIAN MUSLIM - those are two tags that raises eyebrows at different ends on the blacklist spectrum lol.

Keep on putting a lie on top of another!!! What is the date of this child you supposedly have? What if you are asked to present a birth certificate for that child?

My wife and I just received the new 221g auto response for dropbox renewal. We dropped off with DHL for Lagos. We intended to travel in January 2019 for training but the earliest date we got for the 221g appointment was June 2019. What is the point of attending a 221g interview when the reason for travel has already passed? I am thinking of waiting until we have a cogent reason to travel. What does anyone advise?

Are you a Muslim?
What groups do you or close family members actively belong to or participate online?

Since your passport was returned to you, I doubt you are getting the visa but some reallllllllllly personal and vital information about you will be noted and stored.

The only person I knew that was given D'S 5535 form was :
For K1 visa
Kinda Muslim fanatic
His passport was however not returned to him after visa interview and yes, he was granted visa after lots and lots of scrutiny.

Shaking my head. What is that supposed to mean. I guess being dedicated to his religion is enough for you to ascribe labels to him. You are reeking of bigotry.

Only you know what you filled and only the embassy knows why they did what they did.
Could be random or someone with similar name.

Very little you can do really till you get the application back. I wouldn't overthink it though.
In the end visas are not 'rights'. Ppl have been refused without extra scrutiny

Good luck

So right, when people hear bankers they automatically assume it’s those front desk guys, customer care and marketers.there are bankers and there are bankers grin
abnot:

Lol I worked in a bank 2017/early 2018 and in the department people went to USA and returned very often for vacations, short courses and professional training. I also applied a B visa and was issued with no difficulties. There are different kind of people that work in the bank and the VO's tend to ask bout your day to day task . A highly skilled banker is not likely to cross the border to seek asylum in Canada. A cashier in the bank is more likely to do that

Wow! Congrats to you both first.

DS-5535; one is a Chemical Engineer who last year attended a company sponsored training (on what too if I may ask please?), the other (maybe an Engineer related to chemicals or nukes or technology too) wants to attend a conference on “Technology” and Management. If both happen to be Muslims, I don’t think we will exactly be wrong to postulate that the profiling has likely gone a notch higher lately....
