why do u wanna know  undecided

Here is a range:

2000-2005. You forget Emeagwali- the father of the internet is Nigerian. you dont believe that there was internet in Nigeria in 2000?

Dont know why its such a big deal. It was quite common place, people used the proceeds to buy cell phones and gifts for their girlfriends.

Anyways nerds like me were not let in on the secret, I kind of figured out myself what they were doing

Re: Tobechi Onwuhara: The King Of Home Equity Fraud by Kc3000: 8:29am On Jan 27, 2011
The FBI thinks this guy really stole close to a $100 million, they can only confirm the $44mill. If I say that I'm not amazed at this fellow, I'll be telling a bold faced lie. I don't envy him, I don't encourage what he did, but I would accord him his due recognition as a criminal mastermind. Being this succesful in crime or even in legitimate endeavours is not easy.

[author=Kalu Akanu]This man probably inspired a lot of yahoo-yahoo boys. No one can compete with him in his sheer genius. The way he laundered his money. And how he was able to work under the radar, was truly something to behold.

That article reminds me of a movie script.

"All the money, all the information, ran through him. He never stored sensitive data on his computer, keeping it instead on a flash drive he could easily destroy. But no matter the precautions he took to cover his tracks, something was bound to go awry. Sometimes you just hit the wrong man.

That morning, Short couldn't log into his account. His password had been changed, and the credit union was closed. Short called in on Monday. When he accessed his account, he saw that $280,000 was missing, most of it from his high-limit HELOC account.

Short called the Alexandria police department, the Secret Service, and the FBI. Within days an investigation was underway. He was, in other words, the wrong man to hit."

In the seconds before the FBI arrived with handcuffs to make the arrest, Matthews whipped out her cellphone and fired off a text: "Leave now. They got us."

Somewhere inside the Hard Rock, maybe at one of his beloved craps tables, one of the greatest cyberscammers in history looked up from his phone, calmly headed for a back door, and hailed a cab. Then he melted into the night. He hasn't been seen since."

i no pple who do dem kinda stuff but wow this guy was something else but everyday 4 d thief and one day 4 d owner - wrong man to hit indeed!

i think d fbi exaggerated d amount tho. d popo did d same to my friend in uk (different kind of scam tho), he got 3 yrs, did half of d time, he's out now.

dem bastards makes loads of money from scamming n all kinds of shyt but dey refuse to stop n leave that country (if abroad) n com home, instead dey r soooooooooooo 4king greedy that dey continue as if their life depends on it like some drug or insulin. hissssssssssssss

i cant wait 4 d movie to com out jo = classic cos dis 1 even thrill me pass Anini sef cos no killings grin

d matthews gal don already save dat text msg 4 her fone in case of incasity. all she did was press send. hehe. i no pple wey dey do am too.

I can't even loathe this dude . . . . He's a G-E-N-I-U-S. To have brought off such a scheme and still elude apprehension makes it more interesting. How brilliant!

Dude was genius. Most hops is that in the world of today with all the monitoring and all, he's still at large. He could be anywhere in the whole wife world. That's the beauty of it. He's not a hero but he excelled in something wrong. I know boys who made more than $200,000 when HELOC was still hot, it's really tough now. Hell, cyberfraud is hard work now for those that haven't retired.

We have to admit. There are geniuses in every trade. I dont admire him but he has my FULL respect. This guy was like a chess player and a darned good one. He had all the angles covered.
Re: Tobechi Onwuhara: The King Of Home Equity Fraud by ceasyc(f): 11:30am On Jan 27, 2011
"Onwuhara grew suspicious that law enforcement might be on to him. FBI agents had placed both a pen register and a trap-and-trace device on his phone, which let them record all outgoing and incoming numbers. Onwuhara somehow found out. When he called Cingular/AT&T (T, Fortune 500), his cellphone carrier, the company "accidentally" revealed the name and number of the FBI technician tracking him, according to an FBI affidavit in support of a criminal complaint. But people who know Onwuhara don't think it was an accident.

"He has a way of getting people to tell him everything," Gipson says."

NA WA OH! d highlighted = SMART OR BS

Why can't some people target all these Nigerian criminals/politicians? can't their accounts be targeted for stuffs like these?
Re: Tobechi Onwuhara: The King Of Home Equity Fraud by Nobody: 11:59am On Jan 27, 2011
i see a lot of exergerations but the fact is that a guy that spends such amount i am surprised the law enforcement in us that are good at poke nosing did nothing.
this guy was spending like crase yet no question,so if he actually was that good then kudos to him.
i admire his talent just his ability to stay on the rader often is what i dont like, the mafioso of the old made bigger money with dirtier crime yet stay under the radar

@ Namfav - better a thief than an illiterate, diseased, ignorant and bigoted peasant who obeys a paedophile overlord to kill innocent people in the name of religion.

the illterate can be taught, the diseased can be cured, hoewever an igbo will always be an igbo, an ignorant and crude bushman, tell your brothers crime does not pay and when you stop celebrating criminals in your villages maybe then opinions change
