[s] First of all, I want to congratulate President Buhari for his reelection ,
I didn't vote for him but at the end of the day, he won
That's one of the beauties of democracy!
Going through the results of the presidential election from the north, I can't help but admit that I am disappointed at the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji atiku abubakar.
1. Knowing fully well that there is a corruption tag hanging around you, why shouting "you will sell NNPC up and down "
What's the essence of the noise?
And about selling it, to whom?
Likely himself through a proxy and his friends,
That NNPC brouhaha depopularise him.
He should learn how to keep his mouth shut most times.
Does he know how many people lost their jobs when Nitel was sold,
Many Nigerians especially northerners were not comfortable with that selling of NNPC thing.
.
2. He didn't prepare well against rigging and malpractice.
This is Nigeria where elections comes with drama, his presidential campaign organization should have put in mechanism in place to counter that.
And BTW who was the campaign director?
Oh Saraki, who was more focused on retaining his senatorial seat to no avail,
Their whole planning was poor!
.
3. Atiku needs to ask himself why he was unpopular in the north?
I never knew that he was this unpopular,
Losing your polling unit to buhari is a big embarrassment please,
Let's be frank, Buhari smashed the northern votes,
We thought atiku will divide the northern votes, but what we saw was disheartening.
Look at south where his vice president aspirant, Peter Obinna came from, PDP won the highest number of votes in the south,
That means that Peter Obi delivered.
To my suprise, the PDP votes from South west was very impressive
What is Atiku excuse for the poor performance of PDP in the north from where he is from?

.
4. Dear Atiku,
I tried for you,
Supported you,
Voted for you
But hope you are aware, that the buhari you can't defeat, you joined hands in pushing him to aso rock in 2015?
When you were in APC, you left APC, ran back to PDP that you helped in removing from power and now you can't defeat APC and buhari.
Maybe it is karma fighting back!
Who knows!

.
Dear Atiku Abubakar
Accept the defeat in good faith
No need of going to court, it will be subjecting yourself to more ridicule.

You thought Atiku would divide Northern votes....laughable. That's because you don't understand Nigeria one bit. No one who truly understood Nigeria structurally thought Atiku would win.

Conduct this election 9 more times, Buhari will beat Atiku. You guys make me laugh when you mention rigging. Does that also mean that Atiku rigged Anambra, Ebonyi, Abia, Benue, Edo, Enugu FCT etc?

Make una rest abeg. These posts only further reveal the extent of your ignorance about electioneering and politics in Nigeria.

You think Obi did well....perhaps this is true, but looking at the results critically, Buhari performed substantially better than in 2015 in Obi's catchment regions of SE and SS.

This article doesnt make much sense. Northerners saw Buhari as a defender of Islam and voted for him. SS/SE and part of SW saw Atiku/Obi as business oriented anti poverty agents and voted for them not because he wanted to sell the loo making NNPC.
Igbos voted for Atiku/Obi because the dread poverty which is seen as will of Allah in the North.

Many Hausa beggars in Lagos spent so much to travel to go and cast their votes for Sai Baba even though he has not told them how he will take them out of poverty; only to return to the streets to beg for sustenance from Igbos, Yorubas, Ibibios, Ijaws etc who wanted to elevate themselves out of economic downturn by voting Atiku/Obi
Igbo voted Atiku because they hated Buhari not because they loved Atiku

Presidency back to the North after 8 years of Buhari? Nah.
Ko le werk.

The unwritten North / South rotation principle is what holds this country away from the brink.

So it will come to the south. Both parties will field southern candidates just as they have both fielded northern candidates this time.
It will boil down to the SW and SE although one would have thought the SE should finally be given the chance, but that is not certain at all. Partly because of Nigeria's historical suspicion of the SE and partly because most Northerners and Westerners consider that GEJ more or less also represented the SE.

Forget Osinbajo, he can only become president if PMB dies in office. The truth is that in 2023 the big masquerade will come out from Bourdillon and attempt to take Aso Rock (if he is still alive). He will stand a good chance unless the PDP comes up with a really maverick candidate who is beloved across borders. Right now I cant think of any such person unfortunately.
Tinubu can never be president, the north van never support him, besides if APC field a SE person in 2023 and PDP fields North with SE vice who do you think will win with the current realities

Osibanjo lost in his constituency so what does that say about the Vice president. The odds was stacked against Atiku because most Northerners see Buhari as the new Aminu Kano.
Your analysis is flawed.

Osinbajo didn't lose in his hometown nor state unlike Atiku. He's an Ogun state man, not lagos man and has left that VGC estate for years. He's been residing in Abuja for more than 5 years now hence you shouldn't have expected him to have clinched his polling unit at VGC just because he came back a day before election to vote at his previous VGC residence.

All you've written has trash all over it.
Fallacy of the highest order.

Buhari won because of his antecedents in the last 4 years.

His selling point was that Abuja airport terminal has been completed.
Portharcourt International airport terminal has been completed.

Biafra Police have collected their pensions after 30 years deadlock.

Fund has been released to complete the 2nd Niger bridge.

12 super turcano fighter jets would be delivered to Nigerian Air Force by 2020 to combat further acts of terrorism.

Ilorin jebba road has been completed.

Lagos/ Ibadan expressway has reached 60% completion.

fund has been released to revive Ajaokuta Steel.

Nigerian Police now witness increment in their salaries.

He reduced JAMB fees to N3,500 and NECO to N4,000 respectively.

Abuja to Kaduna railway has been commissioned.

Lagos to Abeokuta railway has been completed.

Mabila power plant is now visible.

Electricity production has improved by 65%, the Mega Watt rises from 3000Mw to 7500Mw. The distribution companies' (sold by PDP to paddy-paddy) ability to do their business, is another matter.

Lagos to Kano railway is under construction.

Kaduna to Abuja expressway has been rehabilitated.
And lots more...

He has fought Boko Haram with zeal.
He has kept a lid on the CBN vault.
He has boosted Agriculture.
He is transforming the rails.
He is keen to help the poorest.
He is not morally dissipated.
He is bold enough to focus on uncompleted projects rather than play to the gallery by starting news ones...

They are CONVINCED that Buhari, with all his imperfections, the BEST Presidential material.

Dear Amarachi,

When you say you supported Atiku, I understand you because this is a sentiment we both share.

But I have to say I am disappointed that you actually do believe that the results as being announced represent the sentiments of the northern voters. Far from it.

The Buhari core supporters in the north are of two categories:
a.) Those that support him because of his islamic fundamentalist leanings.
b.) Those that support him because they expect he would jail the "rich" people.
c.) Those that support him because it is politically expedient for them to do so.

Between 2015 and now, those in categories (a) and (b) dwindled considerably.

Those in category (c) increased exponentially.

Historically, the tendency for non-muslims to vote for a muslim candidate in Nigeria is inversely proportional to the number of type (a) supporters. For this reason, it is easy to predict how the non-muslim blocs will vote. All APC did was to ensure they didn't get the opportunity to vote. They were easy to identify. Crisis upon crisis meant that in most cities, Muslims live in separate quarters from non-muslims.

Buhari's first term opened the eyes of those in category (b). He lost a lot of support from those. Those were the
swing Atiku votes. All they did in places like Kano etc was to place people in many polling units to police the ballot papers. Woe betide you if you go into such a place and not vote APC.

Thus, while Buhari was expected to win in the NE/NW, it was not with the numbers margin being doled out now. These numbers are made up, frankly.

Atiku knew that. All he needed was the support from the South to coast home to victory. He lost it, because APC was willing to use security agencies to do their dirty work in a way that even PDP was not, in their own days.

So, you do not get to blame the victim. You should instead look at the perpetrator and demand punishment.

I was born in the north, what you said is not mostly the reason why Atiku fail.
Buhari is seen as a true muslim in the north who support jihadism and sharia. All the senior Imam back Buhari and Almajiris take orders from them, this almajiris are the real voters in the north. Atiku is seen as friend of infidels and have no control over the almajiris. They also trust Buhari to hand over to a northener in 2023 using PDP or APC.

Atiku have little control in the north because he is a liberal man, while Buhari is seen as a Islamic supreme leader because over the years Buhari is a trusted Islamic adherent who provide cover for Islamic hard liners.
Here is the only truth why most poor northerners support Buhari.

89% of northerners are poor, and uneducated, and they are the majority of the voters in the north and they listen to whatever their Imams tell them.

They see Atiku as an infidel for being liberal and friend with infidels (Southern Christians).

They know Atiku cannot kill or support killing because of Islam but Buhari can kill, support/sponsor killings because of Islam and for this, they see Buhari as second Prophet Mohammed, so they don't care if his leadership is good or bad so long as he attends Mosque and support Islam without compromise they are cool.

Buhari is like Islam god in northern Nigeria, they worship him whether he is right or wrong.

First of all, I want to congratulate President Buhari for his reelection ,
I didn't vote for him but at the end of the day, he won

You are still a billionaire.
Try again in 2023
But certainly NOT in PDP.
Thank you.
From Oriaku Amarachi
cool cool
Nice piece nnwayioma !
Especially the NNPC part .

Lol how could you not know he wasn't very popular. Only silly people from south were saying he was going to kill in Kano. I expected him win a few NC states like plateau. Fact is he has the curuption cloud over his head. The fault is with the party for not knowing this. Thats why they should do open primaries to select candidates instead of they're elitist backroom selections.

Lol he was very milquetoast on herdsmen issue. He was for cattle colonies aswell. Then he didnt take a hard line stance on getting them in order or having a solution to "foreign" herdsmen violence. He didnt have much to offer NC in reality.

Amara, so there is a real, reasonable person behind this your moniker? You have the capability of honestly analysing issues but you chose to go the route of PDP ethnic and religious baiting...
Wonders shall never end sha o. Many of us are actually waiting for when the Biafra thing will be activated again..

It will activated soon and the cries and rants will resume
