Why should he be popular in the when the Muslim clerics preach against him, calling him an infidel, that buhari is the Muslim , the north need only power and that is all they can do, that is why most of them are always interested in security job. Atiku to them is mixed . 2 Likes |

SW votes were not because of Atiku or Obi. But rather protest votes because of the economy, nepotism and herdsmen rampage.it has nothing to do with the candidates. If a goat was the alternative to Buhari in this election, they would have voted for that goat the same way they voted Atiku. 5 Likes |

Jayson1: Jayson1: Dear Amarabae, Didn't it strike you as a surprise that some states ravaged by Boko Haram and extreme poverty could come out in their numbers to vote a lifeless stick who plunged them into that mess? Before you condemn Atiku, always remember that something is not right with the northerners. [quote author=Jayson1 post=76154796]Dear Amarabae, Didn't it strike you as a surprise that some states ravaged by Boko Haram and extreme poverty could come out in their numbers to vote a lifeless stick who plunged them into that mess? Idiot, have forgotten our unrest was created by PDP's past leaders. Fear God Please. |

globemoney: Presidency back to the North after 8 years of Buhari? Nah. Ko le werk. The unwritten North / South rotation principle is what holds this country away from the brink. So it will come to the south. Both parties will field southern candidates just as they have both fielded northern candidates this time. It will boil down to the SW and SE although one would have thought the SE should finally be given the chance, but that is not certain at all. Partly because of Nigeria's historical suspicion of the SE and partly because most Northerners and Westerners consider that GEJ more or less also represented the SE. Forget Osinbajo, he can only become president if PMB dies in office. The truth is that in 2023 the big masquerade will come out from Bourdillon and attempt to take Aso Rock (if he is still alive). He will stand a good chance unless the PDP comes up with a really maverick candidate who is beloved across borders. Right now I cant think of any such person unfortunately. 3 Likes |

[quote author=2T215 post=76155367]Atiku should study the result and consult his team. There are options to be explored without resorting to violence. When i see people diverting attention away from the real issue and trying to insult men who have worked hard and long, I feel uneasy. What we are seeing now is strange. my take is, Atiku contested against every known state institution, lets see whether the judiciary would be co-opted into this sham. I know the government has started the deconstruction of the judiciary already but all hope is not lost. How is it strange....are u watching the collations?....Abia state had 17% turnout out of a possible 1.4m...some states in the north had 70% turnout.....yet we sophisticated folks that can't be bothered to go out and vote in the sun....we that will see that day as a free day to have drinks at bars and co...and have analysis on every little issue....instead of hitting it at the centre.....The sophisticated lot now blame failure on the region that had the highest no of registered voters and also came out in droves to make sure their civic duty was done.... And all have now started the blame game... Make dem go siddon, dem never ready. |

tiwiex:The incontestable fact is that neither Atiku nor PDP were ready to take power. Politics as is played here is still very much pristine....You must be keen to beat your opponent in their own game. This election was won the day Buhari appointed Prof Mahmud Yakubu as INEC Chairman and PDP were intolerably too naive and let it slide. Compare PDP's insipid campaign thrust with the cataclysmic propaganda unleashed on Nigeria in 2015... In the final analysis, the difference between winning and losing comes down to desire...who wanted it more... Buhari is no Jonathan who, it must be said, was a weakling. He kept his eyes on the ball and was prepared to dismantle any obstacle/hindrance lying on the path to victory. PDP are proving to be a weak opposition....idealism has no place in African politics where the strongman syndrome is rather admired than abhorred. |

Poor Strategy for PDP,choosing A man who recently decamped and rubished ur party as your candidate,a known serial defector. When Buhari defeated him in APC primary that shld have been a signal that PMB is more popular. PDP repeated the same pmb hate campaign that made him more popular in 2015.They joked with d likes of shekarau and co in Kano, just as they allowed Omisore decide Osun in Apc's favour. 1 Like |

Atiku lost because since pre-independence, Nigeria has been rigged by the British colonialists to favour Northern conservatives. Sadly, in the eyes of the people that matter in the North, Atiku is seen as a Northern Liberal. |
