Hello guru in the house!

Please I need your response on this;

I initially made a payment for a Visa fee B1/B2 category, I only scheduled an appointment with it hoping I will fill the DS-160 form and submit before the the interview date but unfortunately I couldn't fill it and submit due to some reasons which means I was unable to attend the interview on Monday.

my question is that; will I be able to schedule another appointment for F1 category? I learnt one can use it since the price of F1 and B1/B2 are the same. please how true is this? I didn't cancel the initial appointment, hope this will also not affect me? and also if they check my Visa fee receipt and see B1/B2 on it hope that won't affect me, though am sure if the MRV fee work for the F1 category the F1 category should be indicated on the appointment confirmation .

Please kindly help me out on this . I NEED YOUR RESPONSE PLEASE!

I have one more question to ask. Is it feasible to go with an old statement or no statement of account. And send one (e-statment) to them on request?

Also is farming business recognized by the US embassy?

Hello Beautiful people,. After 1 year plus as a pharmacist and I have been trying to apply for admissions in the US for either master's degree or PhD I haven't gotten any. It is always close. GRE 305 TOEFL 102.
I APPLIED TO KANSAS UNIVERSITY FOR PHD MOLECULAR BIOSCIENCE and just 2 weeks ago they replied me that I am on their waiting list and that they are waiting for some of those they gave admissions to reply back. They won't tell me how sure is it for me to get the admissions or even when.
And so I have decided to come here for my answers.

My questions are 1. How sure am I to get the admissions of the waitlist
2. When could that be?
3. Should I just face the other master's degree admissions because my agents after much pressure from me has started admissions in Arkansas Tech for emergency management.
I am starting to think something is wrong somewhere, for close to two years with a PharmD and fair test scores I still can't get admission.

Don't you think you are being a little risk averse applying to only one school? It's important to spread your application across different schools of different ranking so as to avoid plenty of stories. You can still seek out schools that are still within deadline and apply there while waiting for your choice.

Why do you want to bypass TOEFL and GRE?
If you don't have money, you can take the GRE only. There are schools that waive TOEFL for Nigerians.
Are you interested in going for a PhD after your master's? If yes, apply to straight PhD programs. With your first class and a GRE score of 300, you should get into good PhD programs with funding.
N.B- go through this thread and learn, then ask questions if you don't understand.
Send me a PM.

Hi, I have first class and GRE 310 but finding it difficult to get funding for PhD in environmental engineering. Michigan Tech gave me admit without funding cry
Please what can I do and suggest schools from your end. Thanks

I guess one of the reasons u applied to Michigan tech was cos they waive application fee but that school no too hold bar. You can try to find GA openings on their website

Not sure if these schools all have environmental engineering but certainly have something related.

1. Florida A n M and FSU joint engineering program. April 1st deadline. Clearly written that funding is not based on first come first serve.

2. Morgan State U. April 1 deadline.

3. U of texas at Arlington. Priority funding deadline is March 15.

4. If you can shell out $158 application fee, Texas A n M college station is open till April 15. Their funding is not also based on early application as long as u r d right candidate.

You might want to consider MSc too. That PhD, except a Prof asked u to apply, it is a hard.

It is not yet over.

Check out Tennessee Tech. Email Dr. Tania Datta in Civil and Environmental Engineering and see if she has funding.
You may also check the Engineering technology master's program at East Tennessee State University

To start with, Arkansas Tech that I know won't fund you. If you can apply to UAMS probably through a program with UALR, that will be a better option. I remember a guy was admitted to UALR but being funded by UAMS for a Biostatistics research, I don't know how he did it.
because my agents after much pressure from me has started admissions in Arkansas Tech for emergency management. This is what is wrong. You have to handle your destiny by yourself, apply to schools by yourself. Spread your tentacles, apply to different schools that fit your plan...remember, by yourself!

Your issue needs response from someone with technical experience to related or similar case.
Just wait and keep reminding at each page so it won't scroll off due to incoming chats...
Most of us who haven't responded seeing your request, perhaps have no idea on how to improvise...

Hopefully, we will get our dream of going to America for education...

Hello,
The visa fee payment you made is no longer valid since you didn’t attend your interview and you didn’t cancel the scheduled appointment before the interview date. On transferring B1/B2 to F1 category that is also impossible. The only option in your case is to make payment for another visa appointment, if you intend applying as a student you should ensure that only the correct category is indicated (F1- academic, M1- vocational and J1- exchange students). I hope your question has been answered. Good luck.

For an HND holder, since one cannot go for a masters programme direct, is it advisable one go an undergraduate programme in order to obtain Bsc

Hello
You should endeavor to read through this thread beginning from part 7 there’s an array of beneficial information that you’ll find invaluable. A lot of HND holders have been able to gain admissions directly into masters programme. What they usually do is to have their transcript evaluated by the credential evaluating body (WES). They’ll convert your GPA to the US scale and you should be good to go. Some people might have listings of schools that accept HND-Masters applicants. Or just read through from part 7 you’ll get the answers you need.

I actually wish to go Bsc in Criminology or psychology, but what is giving me concern is my age 29, thinking if it will not be a red flag for an undergraduate programme when am being interviewed by the VO despite the school would have giving me an admission if i qualify for the requirements, irrespective of my age.

Do you understand what I elucidated above? and I will love to get you opinion or advice .
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by kidUrbane: 10:29am On Mar 06, 2019
I think I understand your concerns. Applying to a BSc program at 29 is a huge red flag. However, about 5 years ago my cousin Who was 30 years old at that time applied to an undergraduate program and his visa was approved. My advise is that you send your HND transcript to WES and have them evaluate it. Once it is evaluated and converted to the US scale, you’ll have a somewhat levelled playing field with BSc holders who are applying to a masters program. If you choose to proceed with the undergraduate admission, be prepared to answer questions bothering on what you have been doing since you graduated from high school, if you’ve had any form of postsecondary education.

Hello brother!

I must confess I do appreciate the way you took your time to responding to my questions, giving your opinions and advice.

I have chosen to apply for the undergraduate programme. And I will be prepared to to answer questions from the VO on what I have been doing since I finished my high school. and I think my answers should be plain as Telling the VO after my secondary school I have gone for my diploma and also proceeded to work for some years. and also be able to answer questions on the course I will choose for the undergraduate programme, the schools, and how the course will benefit me when I return to my country and finally my sponsor. and most importantly be prayerful. I think am on point with all these

will be commencing on my application this week, and hoping to get admission from the schools within short time.

Thanks very much sir.

Hello guys, So my younger brother has always been a handy person. After he finished his WAEC in 2013, he did not further his studies but rather went and learnt plumbing. The institute he learnt it from is not a recognized institute so to speak bur he was issued a certificate. He is doing very well as he has worked as contract/full time plumbing staff with several companies. He is presently working with a firm in PH as a full time plumbing staff. We had a discussion and he told me that he would like to get added advanced plumbing certifications to his present certificate as that will afford him the opportunity to be picked for training/oversea by his employer. I have tried to make research on Schools in USA/IRELAND but almost all requires him to write IELTS/TOEFL/GRE and to be honest, I doubt my brother will pass if he writes any of them. He is just not academically inclined whcih was why he did not bother with JAMB and all from the beginning. Please is there any school in either US, IRELAND or any of the Schenghen countries that accept just WAEC for a certificate/diploma course(not undergraduate degree). I would appreciate it if i'm given any pointers. Thank you all.

I emailed a Professor after being admitted for MS fall 2019 to be considered as an MS candidate under his supervision with consideration for assistanship: The professor replied that he would be happy to consider me as an advisee, that i should send him my Resume,
Transcript and any publications/project report.

What does he mean by consider me as an advisee and is there a chance of getting a GA from an academic advisor?".

Good morning all,
I recently sent a prof. at cleveland state university an email for an opening in his lab but he did not response. Just today I saw an email for the department Chair offering me a teaching assistantship. The offer came as an attached pdf file with my name on the letter. He also sent me an advert to apply to the department. On the teaching assistantship pdf, part of the conditions is for me to apply to the the school. I am just confused about the whole thing. He gave me 9 days to accept the offer.
First of all his email checks out on the department website. How should I proceed please.

Hey buddy,

Congrats man, please waste no time in applying.

Am in Cleveland state university and if you have any question or doubts, please feel free to pm me.

I don't know the department the profs contacting you are in but if it's biology, I can vouch that it's genuine. Biology department in this school is a cheerful giver of funding once you have a decent profile. I have a Nigerian friend on full funding in the department.

The application fee is quite cheap ($40), they accept unofficial GRE results and unofficial transcript during application. TOEFL is waived for all applicants from Nigeria. You literally can start and finish the application in less than 30minutes.

All in all, the final decision is yours to make.

cheers.

They do. I submitted my official transcript when I resumed. Try to reduce the size of your transcript. You can use paint software to reduce the size of each picture then convert all the pictures to one pdf file online. Seems I had the same problem during my application too.

If you can, make sure the pdf file is not up to 2MB. Don't over reduce the size that it becomes blur o. If you can't, send me a pm, and i can help you resize it.
