Oluwasaeon:
Hello all,
Me and my Samsung S9 fell into a ditch on Sunday, I was out under 20sec and I switched it off, left my phone to dry by wrapping it with a handkerchief and dipping into a rice bag when I got home. Till now, my phone hasn't been OK. I managed to put it on this morning, wasn't working fine, it displayed quite fine and other times, it gave me a white screen. It did this intermittently.
I took it to Slot service centre today and they said the screen is damaged! And that'll cost me 85k to fix.
All along, my initial thought was that the phone needed to be fully dry and maybe everything will work fine afterwards.
My question is, is the screen really damaged or what It displayed fine and even when it went off and showed me white screen, the Always On Display worked perfectly. A supposed water resistant phone ?! Someone should pls help me as I've some indispensable info on the phone. Thanks!

Bro, I will suggest u take that fone to a competent engineer to check the screen if there is water left over making the glitch.. I will suggest u don't put that fone on again until what I said is checked. If the fone still display normal and then go whitish then u av small hope.

First did you buy the phone new? If yes then water shouldn't get in.

If you bought it UK used then there is no guarantee with the water resistant.

And if your phone is showing white screen then you need to get a new screen

Anyone has an idea on how much it would cost to fix a cracked S7 Edge screen? The functionality of the screen is 100% though just the crack alone that affects the screen.

I have s7edge screen

Engineers in the house please a need ya help.

So i got this "Japan used" Sharp-Aquos SHV37 phone a week ago. The phone is cool, considering the amazing price but i noticed some issues with it, guess the issues is why it's that cheap...

First is that the phone requires me to "choose dialing destination" asiin to add an international dialing code for all calls else the call won't go through.
It brings out a "dialing destination" dialogue screen each time i dial a number asking "To Japan" or "To Overseas" if i choose "to Japan" it will automatically add +81(Japan's dialing code) to the number inputed and dial but if choose "to Overseas" it will ask ask that u add the call destinatiion dialing code.
Even when I wan call Basira wey dey end of my street to ask weda her ewa agoin and agege bread don ready i must add +234 or the call no go go.

The main issue here is that there's no way for me to successfully dial any USSD code(*123#, *556# etc.) cause the thing go still dey require international dialing code and even if u add am(like +234*123#) it still wont work.
Incoming calls are working perfectly same also the browsing and its really fast(better 4G no be all those half-G wey dem tecno and infinix dey get) and the outgoing calls too so long i add the +234 to the numbers i want to call.

...and sim contacts too are not showing on the phone.

The seller still has more of the phone. If there's a way to fix the issue na to go buy the remaining ones be dat ooo.

You're probably being asked for phone password, not SIM card password. So, type your phone password there.
If your phone doesn't have a password, the default password is usually 0000, or 00000, or 1234, or 12345.

Try any of these, and let us know.

Okay. Let me try.
1. What software is the phone currently running?

2. From your dial screen or from contacts, or from settings, try to look for Call Settings. There, you'll be able to see some settings for international calling, TTY mode etc. Also, you may need to set home network/country to Nigeria, from the call settings.
That's one of the ways the phone will stop going to Japan.

3. You may need to take the phone to Ikeja, or go online to download the software for our region, so that it can be flashed on the phone. Just go to Sharp's website, for this, and pray that the phone is still supported

4. Upload screenshots of the dial pad, call settings area, and we can try to guide you.

Make sure you have the full email address and password of the previous owner. If you do, go to Settings, Accounts, and remove the icloud account there. When prompted for the password to the email, put it there.

Back up your apps, pictures, movies, music, docs, and other necessary data, then do a complete factory reset, to take the phone back to out-of-box state.

If that doesn't work, take it to Carlcare.

1. It runs on android version 8.0

2. From the call settings there's "int'l call settings" clicked on it and it has dialing codes of about 18 countries there with Japan the very first on the list. I added Nigeria's to the list and the problem is still there, replaced Japan with Nigeria and still the same... i deleted all of them and left just Nigeria's (+234) and I'm still having same issue.

3. There's no "software update" on the phone. could only find "system update" which is for updating the android version of the phone.

From your answer in number 2, it seems that flashing it is the only possible solution.
Search online for Sharp phone forums, if any, or any other forum where your phone may be supported.
Also, go to the website of Sharp mobile phones, and check if there's a possible software ROM for our region. You need to flash that Japan ROM out of the phone.
