LagosismyHome: You’re assuming that my sister. The Quote does not mean : ‘Children Born IN THE UK while YOU are in the UK’. It simply means what is says: ‘Children BORN while you were in the UK’ where they were born was never mentioned . You added that one yourself Anyway, the poster can spend her money and time and call home office. I did it. So. Nothing much to prove here. Cheers. 1 Like |

Mamatukwas: Actually it is English ooo. Born while you are in UK means you are physically present is UK. Also it follows by saying you MUST present a full UK birth certificate. Again for you to have that, the baby was physically born here and so is the mother . A child born outside the UK cannot have a UK birth certificate hence you see the word MUST But i hear you . If you speak on experience then nobody can argue with that. That facts and you state 2018 that current 2 Likes |

LagosismyHome: I understand. We were legally resident in the UK. Baby was born in America. We applied using her US birth certificate and passport. They gave us her brp. At no point was it made to look like a hard thing or something unusual. Which is why I refer to the meaning of the quote stated. Tbh I didn’t even google it before applying, I just did. I think sometimes we overthink things. It’s not that complicated truly |

danberg:Congratulations! Glad it pans out well, just present your British passport when you get to immigration, they wouldn’t stop you from boarding. Get your Nigerian passport though because it makes things easier when visiting Nigeria. |

justwise:Thank you boss. I really appreciate...I was becoming concerned because some folks said I would need to show a Nigerian passport too. |

Do not divorce. Return home and apply for the spousal visa. If you are denied over the supposedly lie, you can then fight to up turn it. Nobody may even notice the mistake, could be considered honest mistake with the drop down answers in the application. LuvlyIva: 1 Like |

See what i saw in the papers today. Apparently some are ditching their US citizenship, perhaps for tax reasons.Even our incoming prime minister gave up his about 2-3 years ago after the US slapped him with a huge tax bill. 2 Likes

The only major developed nation that taxes its citizens (and green card holders) regardless of where they live is the United States. So long as you hold a U.S. passport or green card, the Internal Revenue Service wants its cut of your profits and capital gains. The United States taxes all U.S. persons on their worldwide income. A U.S. person is a citizen, green card holder (who is a legal resident but not necessarily present in the United States), and residents. A resident is anyone who spends more than 183 days a year in the United States. dustydee: 3 Likes |

The law says both parent have to apply b4 a dependant Visa can be issued to d child. Pls is there any other way around it cos her father and I no longer communicate? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 3:24pm On Jul 23, 2019 |
Icesnow: Although i dont know much on this topic, Uk guidance is always so clear and online. Love the Uk immigration for that . I went to check and i dont think the law mandate both parents ........ ..... Watch out for the key word Sole responsibility . So the father doesnt have to be if the Mother can show proof that she has sole responsibility for the child . At least that how i read it . The rules will not want to encourage one parent kidnapping a child from the other and running off but if the mother/ father has sole custody then there is no case of kidnapping Copy and Paste from the guidance document For any dependant child applying; • both of the applicant’s parents must either be lawfully present (other than as a visitor) in the UK, or being granted entry clearance or leave to remain (other than as a visitor) at the same time as the applicant; or • one parent must be lawfully present (other than as a visitor) in the UK and the other is being granted entry clearance or leave to remain (other than as a visitor) at the same time as the applicant, unless: o The Main Applicant is the applicant’s sole surviving parent, or o The Main Applicant is the parent that has and has had sole responsibility for the applicant’s upbringing; or o there are serious or compelling family or other considerations which would make it desirable not to refuse the application and suitable arrangements have been made in the UK for the applicant’s care. Icesnow: Can you post the link instead of a screen shot... note any thing can be posted online and sometime although correct info but might be outdated still exist if you do a search THe absolute truth in this case is the official home office documentation. Which I might read and read it incorrectly too 1 Like |
