Good morning guys
I got my second refusal last week. I applied on the 29th of October

Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit
application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet
the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and
Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(a) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and
available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or
program of studies that you intend to pursue.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(b) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and
available financial resources, without working in Canada, to maintain yourself and any family
members who are accompanying you during your proposed period of study.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(c) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and
available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the cost of transporting yourself
and any family members who are accompanying you to and from Canada.

I was sponsored by my company and I submitted a SOA of almost 100M but I didn't submit my own statement of Account. Could this be the reason why I got refused or it's just that they still as foolish as they are lol. Even when I don't have any family member accompanying me ☺
I wish others waiting for their SP good luck. Keep hopes high and don't give up

I regret to hear your study visa was rejected. The red flag I can spot out from your application is the fact that you used a company statement of account (SOA) as the primary proof of funds for your study visa application. It's crucial to note that the Visa officer's at the Canadian embassy doesn't regard company sponsorship for a candidate (employee) seeking for career advancement in Canada and no matter the amount in the company's account, the applicant's application will still be turned down on the basis of financial insufficiency. Because of this, there are several questions which accompanies the company sponsorship like -

1-) How long have you been working for this establishment?
2-) Why do the company want to spend so much on an employee that is not sure will return back to the company after authorized period of stay in Canada given the current socio-economic situation of Nigeria?
3-) What impact have you made so far in the company that made you the right fit for this sponsorship amidst other employees?
4-) What does the company stands to gain as a result of this sponsorship?
5-) What is your annual renumeration in this establishment and what's the current position you're holding in the company?
6-) Did the board of directors signed a written agreement that they are aware and fully in support of this sponsorship and thus wouldn't pose to be a hindrance to funds accessibility and availability to you during the course of your study in Canada?

Were you able to answer the aforementioned questions accurately and persuasively in your last application? Now, you can see the reasons as to why your application was refused.

In a nutshell, I would advise you file for a reapplication next year using a close family member (father, mother, brother, sister, step-father, Step-brother/Sister etc) as your prime sponsorship and include relevant documents to show your current situation merit the issuance of a study permit.

It will end in praises.

Hi Mr Frank
Kindly treat as urgent!!!!

I was refused last week based on financial grounds only.....and was advices to re apply if I can show more finance for tuition..travel tickets and upkeep..can I apply immediately?... I am for winter Jan 2020 session...

Please don't take such uncalculated risk because the outcome won't be advantageous to you, considering that winter is barely 4 weeks from now. My candid advice is that you defer your admission to Spring/Fall 2020, gather additional information/documents to show you've more than sufficient financial resources to cover for your tuition, transportation and living expenses in Canada. By so doing, also cross all T's and dot all i's by making sure your purpose of visit and home ties to your country of citizenship are adequately well-substantiated even though it wasn't listed among the generic reasons for your visa refusal.

It will end in praises.

Hello good morning I was refused previously based on
1) travel history
2) home ties
3) current employment situation....

Ways I want to tackle them
2) home ties my dad wants to do a deed of gift of our two houses estimated to 70 million current market price backdated to 2017 in my name
Secondly a treasury bill account of about 15 million has been opened in my name asides the tuition fee and living expenses
My sis trad wedding is this Dec so a group family photo will be added
3) for current employment situation I started working with my brother with a salary of 180k since August ending..... He is the ceo while I am one of the directors
I don't know if this is enough

Good to know you're investing your time and effort in making sure your next application would be a success. As a result, the backdated deed of gift, investment in the bank in your name, being a director in your brother's company are good economic ties to your home country and should considerably prove to the visa officer that you've huge commitments back home.

Current employment situation, you need to include documents that would show you're gainfully employed in your current country of residence. These documents includes - 1-)Employment letter,
2-) Promotion letters,
3-) Salary increment letters (if any),
4-) Pay stubs for the last 4-6 months,
5-) Salary statements (if any),
6-) A detailed reference letter from your employer and
7-) Work ID etc.

Bear in mind that is not all about including these documents in your next application because the visa officer's aren't custodians of knowledge. Thus, it's mandatory that you explain convincingly in a succinct way as possible (SOP/LOE) how each of these properties are of upmost importance to you and how they are connected to motivate your return home, including your family members that are resident in Nigeria.

I just contacted a student who is presently undertaking her Master's in finance program at McGill and she confirmed that GRE is the only mandatory requirement for the program. You may want to sit for the exam since you don't have one. She also had $8500 partial funding from the school.

Dear All,
Please I need your advise on how to apply for study permit. I got my acceptance letter today from college of North Atlantic (Geographic information Specialist post diploma) for one year program. I have BSC in Surveying and Geoinformatics. I have been working in a bank for five years now. Can my experience in the bank count since it's not related to the study program ?
After paying for my tuition fees due for Feb 13 2019 what documents do I submit ?.

It's better you silence the banking experience and focus on getting letters that would show you're still in the same geo-information discipline/field. To me and in the sight of the visa officer, this shows a logical procession between your passion, your previous studies, your current employment and intended program.

In order not to detail the thread with constant repetitive answers please check my post earlier this year forTHE LIST OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR A SUCCESSFUL STUDY VISA APPLICATION.

I'll like to think the problem is from your LOE.
The vo said your study plan is vague and poorly documented. You need to totally rework it. Introduce yourself, talk about the course you want to study, why you chose lambton, why you chose canada, conclude with why you will return home, justify why spending so much in canada will improve your job prospects back home. You have to explain with cold hard facts and make the story convincing.
Thanks a lot for your reply.May God Almighty Continue to bless you.I still expect more answers from the gurus in the house. Thanks

Just gut rejection notifcation today:

Some of these reasons given are a bit confusing to me:

Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada. After careful review of your student permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.

For the last reason given, I have three kids, husband and landed properties. Are these not enough? I don't have any relative in Canada.
Talimg about the limited employment prospect, I chose Computer Science. Is this not good enough?
Guys please advise me so I know what next to do.

Documents submitted to show home ties:
marriage certificate
Birth certificates of my 3 kids
landed properties documents with my name and husbands name.
Are these not enough to show home ties? All these were also clearly highlighted in my SOP.

Course applied for: Computer Science
Program: Undergraduate
Employment document showing current and past employment details (salary around #50,000 monthly)
Please how does this affect the prospect of my employability when I come back? Does it mean that Computer Science is not a viable cource of study?

I intend to reapply but this time for a post graduate studies, please will it affect my chances because previously I didnt indicate or added my BSC certificate. Can I reapply using my BSC certificate and not be denined because of that?

Hi I’m a newbie been a silent reader since I submitted in August . I decided to post to encourage everyone from the wave of refusals

Timeline: online route
Submission/upfront medicals- August 15th
Medicals passed- August 22nd
Eligibility review started- August 22nd
Bvl/approval/ppr- October 1st
Passport submitted-October 2nd
Passport returned- December 2nd

This was my first application although I got visit visa last year but it expired in June cos my passport expired

The last 2 month were the longest months of my life I kept thinking of what could have been wrong for my passport to be held but thank God

I didn’t write SOP/LOE

Docs submitted were:
* Letter of Acceptance and fee statement
* Receipt of 1st semester fees as well as telex copy (paid with zenith bank)
* Proof of funds: letter of sponsorship stating that the amount estimated by the school as living costs has been transferred to my account , my bank statement 3.2m (11CAD), parents bank statement not up to 1m, parents payslips and my employment letter .
* Then all the required forms

Course applied for is Post graduate Certificate at Seneca College.

All in all it was Gods favor cos when I read about all the SOPs that people submitted and saw closing balances I had anxiety. My application itself took 6 weeks and 4 days

Let's stop deceiving ourselves.
@frank If you like write letter of explanation to letter introduction to sound SOP. They will still deny. How many of the people you have advised to repackage and reapply that have gotten approval. My candid advice to fellow Nigerians, let's take a chill from study permit for now. If you like pay full year tuition, show all the millions, they are not giving. We have seen first class graduates been denied here. We have seen near perfect applications that are far better than mine, yet they come up with their generic refusal reasons. Some they just return the application without reason for denial. You have to mail them and then they will copy any r refusal letter on their screen and paste for you. Its ridiculous. Let's stop wasting our application fees.
Thanks.

SOP/LOE have never in history been a requirement for study visa application. Applicant's that include one in their various applications do so probably because he/she has vital information which needs to be clarified to the visa officer and thus facilitate their visa approval.
